That damn door!

The squeaking noice was loud enough to make me still in fear. And to my horror, I saw Leila’s eyes snapping open. Since it was dark, at first she did not see my face, and called out loudly, “Who is there?!”

Then her eyes met mine despite the dark for one brief second and it was like my heart stopped in that very second. I immediately pushed away from the door.

“Lorezo!” Leila’s voice rang in the empty house, “wake up. Someone is in the house!”

“What?” Lorenzo was half sleepy, half awake. He must be shocked too by the way there was urgency in his voice.

“I- it is August.” she said in lower voice but I could hear her words as Lorenzo and Leila were scrambling out of the bed and running out of the room to catch me, “I saw her face. It was definitely August.”

FUCK!

Since I was barefoot, thankfully my steps did not make much noise. I ran like hell, trying to find a way out but I knew that I will never make it out of the main door because Leila had already seen me.
