I shifted immediately. Down on my knees in my human form, my arms covering my chest, I stared at the now dead guard with wide eyes.

“What… did you just do?” I whispered, and lifted my eyes to look at Lorenzo, “you just killed a man?”

He appeared indifferent, and casual like he had just chugged down a bottle of beer instead of committing murder. He jumped over the dead body of the man to get close to me, and then looked down at me with a smile.

“Of course. Anything for you.”

“For me?! FOR ME?!” I repeated the words. Why was he not making any damn sense?”

“Well, yeah!” he shook his head like it was SO OBVIOUS, “something is wrong with your wolf, isn’t it? You shined in the dark. Pretty sexy, by the way,” he smirked, “but whatever it is, I don’t want to know. He was calling his pals over to get you in trouble, I stopped him from doing that. So didn’t I just help you?”

My heart thumped with slight relief. He did not know about a the shining wolf tale. My secret was still safe.
