In the darkest alley, past midnight, a woman was running to catch the last train to her station. The places seemed abandoned as no shops were open and hardly any person seemed to roam that hour. It not only increased her anxiety but built a tension around her. The timing for the train to stop was almost five minutes and the woman sighed that she finally made it in time.
Suddenly, she started to feel cold during the summer night and there were no air conditioners at the station either. She looked around to see if someone was there with her but as far as her sight went, she found nothing suspicious. She rubbed her palms together as she shivered. Suddenly, she felt a presence behind her but when she turned around, no one was there. She was confused. Her eyes were fixed on the digital watch, hardly a few more seconds and she will be inside the train.
The train arrived and she was about to enter when she felt a tap on her shoulder. The woman flinched and didn't look back and jumped into the train. Once she found the train was vacant, she took a seat and glanced outside to check if there was really someone or was she hallucinating? There was no one.
She was shocked that she was aware she felt a tap on her shoulders, which frightened her to the core. It made her feel uneasy. After a while, she felt being watched again and she turned around to see if someone was there. Still with no clue, she returned back to her seat and was scared as soon as she spotted a man in a black trench coat sitting in front of her. His face was covered with a devil mask which made the woman jump and run for her life. She wanted to meet the conductor but found the same man standing in the train, blocking her way.
She was perplexed how this man reached before her? As she tried to take her steps back, she felt being pressed against someone, it was dreadful and she almost fainted when the man partially removed his mask to reveal his sharp fangs.
The woman's eyes popped out from the socket when she felt those sharp fangs dugges into her neck. The man had covered her mouth so she couldn't scream and suck her blood only to drain her out completely.
Her lifeless body was found by the authorities later.
It's been a long time, five years, if to say seem a long time but time flies and when five years ended for Adrianna, only she knew that.
A Lot of changes she had seen and went through but she couldn't find any clue for the man who was father of her children. This thought made her depressed most of the time and now that the babies are growing, they ask about their father frequently.
She was sitting in the waiting area for an interview for a press company. She had been doing multiple jobs at a time to support her little family but she needed a stable job which could provide her all the needs. After a while, she was called inside and sat in the cabin of the manager of the company.
"Adrianna Cosgrove, i have read your resume and i must say you seemed to be a perfect candidate for the job but here is the take, you don't have practical experience for the job. Do you understand that? Henceforth, we cannot give this job to you." Said the manager.
It shook Adrianna's dream of getting a better job but she was determined to get this job at any cost.
"Sir, please, try to understand. I need to have this job…" Adrianna pleaded.
"I can't give you this job because you lack experience in this field, Miss Cosgrove…"
"What do I have to do to get this experience? I can prove that I am a worthy candidate for this job, just give me one chance." Adrianna begged him.
"Alright…" The manager sighed and instructed her, "if you want this job, you have to pass a test."
"I will do it…"
"There is a rumour that i have heard about the Knights & co, their CEO, Alaric Knight is having an extra marital affair with a woman. I want you to prove this rumor with solid proof and get this job…" said the Manager.
Adrianna was stunned to hear that but she had to get the job anyhow. So, she accepted the offer and left.
Her heart pounded inside the rib cage when she thought about the task. Knights were known to be ruthless rulers and they are way out of her league. How will she prove her worth? It wasn't a piece of cake that she could eat in one go.
She went to the supermarket to get some groceries and stuff for home. Hardly having enough money, she insisted on taking only necessary items and went to check out.
"Hey Adrianna, how are you?" The cashier was Adrianna's neighbour and so she recognised her.
"Cathy, I am good. Went for an interview today…" she responded…
"That's great, I hope you have done your best."
"Ummm… almost, the job is mine but…" she was hesitant to break the news.
"But? Is there something you want to tell me?" Cathy was concerned.
"Wait… My shift is about to end. Let me clear your balance and we will go to the cafe…"
Cathy was the only friend Adrianna had after leaving her family and home for good. She had supported her in bad times.
Inside the cafe, Adrianna explained her situation to her friend.
"That's bad, the knight's are the most powerful influencers in the city and messing with them will land you in trouble. Along the line, you can't afford to lose the job.." Cathy remarked.
"That is the main concern, I have children to take care of and without money, I can't survive." Adrianna was depressed.
"I know it doesn't sound good but I think it will work…" said Cathy.
"What do you mean?" Adrianna was curious.
"My sister in law works in the Knight's mansion and I guess she could help you to get your ticket inside the house and she can drop more information about Alaric Knight."
"Are you sure? What if she lost her job because of me?" Adrianna was concerned about the outcomes.
"She wanted to leave that place because there were some shady things happening in that mansion…" informed Cathy.
"Shady things?" Adrianna raised her brows.
"Have you heard about recent killings in the city? Mostly women are the targets and they were found dead, blood drained from the body… my sister in law suspects Knights involvement in this case but she is nobody to raise her voice." Cathy told Adrianna about the murders.
"Yeah, I saw that in the news… I am scared too since I came late in the evening and the women who were killed were mostly corporate workers."
"Exactly, and if anything gets proved, except the rumour, you know you will be doing a favour to the world…" Cathy was hopeful about this.
Adrianna agreed with her plan and after meeting her sister in law, who willingly agreed to help Adrianna as well.
After making arrangements, she went to search for the Knights. Something stirred about her, she was afraid. She knew what she was doing and if she failed, not only did she fail to get the job but might end up in jail.
The Penthouse ScandalA few days later, in the knight's penthouse. With the help of Cathy's sister in law, she got information about Alaric Knight being here with a woman, and Adrianna had to catch them red handed. She hid inside the closet and set her camera to record everything she could. After a while, she heard someone coming inside the room. It was dark but when the lights were turned on, she could see them clearly. There was a man and a woman standing close to each other, basically arguing about something near the window. As the woman seemed upset, she peeked through the glass pane and avoided the man's gaze."Sydney, what are you talking about?" Asked the man.The woman stayed silent but closed the proximity with the man, her hands roamed over his chest and she observed him keenly. She bit her lower lips and looked at the man with her eyes filled in lust.Adrianna saw them talking to each other when the woman made her move first and planted kisses on the bare chest of the man.
Inside the conference hall, Knight's mansion. Alaric Knight attended an important meeting with elders of the council. There were five elders from each coven, standing tall and taking their thrones respectively. All of them looked old and pale yet dangerous and powerful. Their gaze was enough to make the ordinary coven members bow to them. When Alaric arrived in the hall, all of the elders started him curiously. He was the true vampire heir of the Knight's. Upon his arrival, the other coven members stood in respect and sat after Alaric passed the alley."Why am I being called here without any prior notice?" He stared into the eyes of the council members and demanded an answer."Such a disregard to receive from an honourable family. Alaric Knight, how dare you disrespect us? If it wasn't for your father, I would have thrown you out of this place." Lady Adna spoke harshly."Adna, don't throw empty bullets at me. If you mean your words, you better turn them into action. I won't get threat
Cathy went to the apartment, looking for Adrianna. She wasn't picking her phone and this startled Cathy very much. Her kids were anxious and worried and this made Cathy more concerned. However, she felt confused as the apartment was not locked but Adrianna found nowhere. She tried calling her again and noticed that Adrianna's phone was on the kitchen counter. What in the world made her leave her phone? She even forgot to lock her apartment? She never did that before.Suddenly, her chest puffed as her thoughts went to the negative side. More, the recent attacks and killings had got her. Without wasting another second, she dialed the emergency number and called the police."Hello 911, what's your emergency?" Asked the operator."My friend is missing… and the house is not locked and her phone is inside… I am worried.." Cathy was concerned."Mam, please calm down and let me know the details. Does your friend have been missing for twenty four hours?" The operator started to point the deta
On her way, returning back to home, Adrianna was depressed from the events happening in her life. She wondered what went wrong? Everything was going good till the day she went camping with her boyfriend. Everything turned upside down for her. It's been five years since she saw her family but what bothered her most was that her family didn't try to find her either. She sighed and took a turn to the building and noticed the police cars in the parking lot. Something stirred in her mind and she ran to get inside."We haven't found anyone yet, yes… the woman is short, almost five foot four inches and brunette with Hazel eyes." The policeman was explaining the features of a person over a phone call."What happened here?" Adrianna asked someone from the crowd."A girl went missing." She replied."Oh.." Adrianna was shocked.Suddenly, she spotted her kids with Cathy and she ran to them."Layla and Asher…" Adrianna called them."Mommy is back…" the kids ran to their mothers, so did Cathy."Ad
The birds around the cafe stop chirping, so does the air drop low. But the tension inside the fully air-conditioned cafe raised the temperature, it seemed odd to feel sweaty.Adrianna perspired as she was surrounded with bulky men in the space. When one of the investors molested her and got her fired without getting a penny for which she worked so hard, she got frustrated and slapped the man out of it. She realised what she had done but it was too late and the man already charged himself on her. However, before he could hurt her by hitting her with his hands, someone barged in time and grabbed the man's arm, pushing him away from her. Adrianna was shocked when the investor was thrown a few meters away, so were others. Her eyes landed on the man in front of her who was well dressed with a suit and tie. His hair was long and fell backward to his shoulder. He had a sharp nose and thin lips but he looked handsome."No matter what, a gentleman was raised not to raise his hand on a hand, a
Adrianna returned back to her apartment and she was excited to break the news to her friend Cathy. After preparing the meal, Adrianna left the apartment to get her kids back from daycare. She was positive and radiating, knowing that most of her problems will get resolved by the money. She picked her babies from the daycare and took them to the park. "Layla and Asher, both of you listen… play in the park and later, i will get you both ice cream." Said Adrianna."Wow, ice cream… thank you, mommy!!!" Layla appreciated the offer and then they both went to play on the swings.Adrianna watched them from the bench she was sitting on. She exhaled and picked her phone. She was going through her phone's gallery and looking at the photos when randomly a picture appeared and her eyes widened in disbelief. It was a picture of her sister, Laura along with Jason and her. The picture was from the camping night, from where everything in her life went down. She looked at her kids playing joyfully in
Those eagle's eyes pierce through her soul when she forgot to breathe, looking at him in confusion but when the realisation dawned upon her, she was forced to bounce back in reality. Not today, never tomorrow, she wanted to meet him again. There was always a feeling of getting ripped into pieces when his red eyes gazed at her. She gulped the thick saliva down to her throat and proceeded to start the conversation."I…. I….." but no words came out."Nervous?" Asked Alaric with an amusing expression decorated on his face. "Uh…." Adrianna was aware that the tongue tie was horrible and when no words came out, she sighed and lowered her head a bit."Are you really this innocent or do you act so well that I can't see your concealed emotions? What are you trying to hide?" Alaric fumed and glanced at her keenly. Adrianna glared at him because of anger and embarrassment, her face flushed crimson. "Will you let me inside?" He sighed and raised his brows at her.Adrianna was confused but let
Adrianna sighed loudly and returned to her room, her gaze landed on her two kids and a smile erupted on her lips. It was two in the morning and she couldn't sleep since she got disturbed by Alaric's arrival in her life. She rubbed her palms and put them on her face to calm herself down because she was restless. Drinking coffee wasn't helping, so she picked the blank paper and made an airplane with it.Alaric might have disappeared now but he will be back for her. Most disturbing thing about him was the way he made her feel for him. His touch sent jolts of currents in her body, to be honest, she started to crave for his touch, not him. That man was creepy and something about him was not right.Apart from that, he was a murderer and still roaming publicly without any proof. She wondered how many murders Alaric have committed so far? He didn't hesitate a bit before killing Sydney Drew. She took a long sigh and cursed her life for getting stuck in a situation like that. Moreover, that bl
