Kendell

"I really need some money, Alpha Kendell," Kia said as he walked closer to me.

The other elders had left after I concluded the meeting. It was just me, George, Elder Dexter, and Kia, the pack cousin, who were left in the room.

"Oh really!" I shot the question at him while he scratched the back of his head.

"And here I was thinking maybe the leopard had lost its spots."

Clearly, our stay in this chamber wasn’t coming to an end very soon with Kia in the picture.

We headed back to our seats again.

"How much do you need this time, Kia, and what for?"

Kia stood like he was about to give an Alpha speech. "I'm sorry for taking up your time, my favorite cousin," Kia said.

I threw him a glance. Kia really had a few tricks up his sleeves—anything just to extort money from the palace without actually bringing anything in.

"Believe me, Alpha Kendell, I feel ashamed standing here before you. I really wish there was somewhere else I could go, but no, I couldn’t find any. A

GeorgeMy heart softened at the sight of Irikah. I never thought I’d be able to see her again. After the war, her right-hand man had gone back, but I never thought he had delivered my message to her."Please come in," I said, releasing her from the hug, leading her back to my chambers. The members of the Palace passed me a disgusting look.I know they might be wondering what a man who was supposed to be mourning was doing with another woman, but they wouldn't understand, and I wouldn't bother explaining. Everyone could just choke on what they believe.Irikah was unnecessarily cold and quiet as we walked back. "Uhm, do you want something to eat?" I said, realizing I hadn't exactly eaten myself. She shook her head as we continued to walk back. We were now at my door, and I hesitated to bring it open."My room... is a mess, please don't judge me." I fumbled. She didn't respond as she waited for me to open the door."I'm sorry I couldn't be here on time for her burial," she said, her voic

Alexa"Who's Irikah?" My brows furrowed as I turned to face Kendell, who was still holding onto me."Uhm..." he muttered, searching for words to say, but just before he could continue, someone interrupted."Irikah?" His voice was both filled with joy and surprise. The lady who had just had an untimely visit mounted down the horse, her face still masked, as she rushed to the rough-looking George."I'm really sorry for your loss," she cried out, her tone sultry though sincere. "I heard what happened," she added.George pulled her into a hug, and they stayed like that for some time. The situation soon became awkward, and Kendell walked away, taking me with him as we went into the Palace, leaving them by the gate side."Who is she?" I tugged on Kendell's shirt to grab his attention."A friend of his. She was here some time back. She saved George and also helped us with her army..." he said, shielding my belly as we walked up the stairs, leading me in a different direction."Where to?" I a

AlexaPain. It shot from every side of my head as my eyes shot open to the piercing sight of the sun."Luna is awake," someone muttered, as the ladies fanning over me got down from the bed, just as Kendell's reflection turned back to me.Maybe, just maybe, what I thought about Nana was wrong— all a very bad dream— as I scanned all through their faces to confirm otherwise. So far, all seemed good.I smiled as a striking pain hit my side again, and I winced in pain.Kendell sat on the bed as he pushed food into my mouth. He didn't ask if I was hungry or anything, and I was glad he didn't.The faces of everyone present pulled up to a smile, and my pups kicked at the food that dropped.Surprisingly, I found Kendell slowing, as I took the plate from him, feeding myself, not minding what they might think of me.Elora passed me more food, and I greedily took it, as if I hadn't eaten for days. Just then I remembered, and stopped eating, throwing the plate on the floor, its noise filling the a

KendellThis wasn't the Silver Wolves I knew. Even though we weren't the celebration type, it was now dead silent like a grave.I thought to myself, as I stared at the empty seats in my chambers—only a few were occupied. And my daily job, for the past seven days, was moving from George's chambers to Alexa's.They both had built a wall around their hearts, giving no room for another."We can't keep our dead bodies for long," one of the new elders I had assigned voiced out."He is right, Alpha. It's over a week now, and no arrangements have been made to lay them to rest," another chimed in.They were right. It wasn't proper to keep them lying around for too long.I sighed as I got off the throne. My guards—one that used to be my interpreter, and another—escorted me out in silence, and soon we were at George's chamber."Stay here," I said to them without turning back.I creaked the already opened door further as I walked into his chamber.Trolleys of food lined up in his room, barely gi

Alexa"Good morning, Luna. We heard what happened to Lady Nana," their sullen faces greeted me, accompanied by their croaked voices, Trisha even breaking into tears.Nana is dead. A harsh reality I might never accept. I'm in my room, hoping the next person who might enter will be her, but as always, I get disappointed."She was such a good woman. She cared for you and this pack so much," Diana said as she consoled me.Yes, I killed Nana. She died trying to defend me. I get that. But could everyone stop trying to make me remember..."Le...ave," I muttered with the little strength I had, my pointer finger slowly raising towards the door.I brushed against my cracked lips as I spoke. My pups may be unhealthy, but right now, I didn’t care. All I wanted was Nana.“Luna, you are hurting yourself,” Trisha broke the silence after they both disobeyed my orders. “I’m sorry if you don’t consider me worthy of being in your presence because my mom sold out your information, which got you kidnapped

KendellWe pulled up in a hug, Nana joining in."It's finally over," Alexa muffled over my shoulder."Yes, it is," Nana said softly, smiling in response—just before a frown formed on her face, a blade thrusting into her belly. She gasped, as her eyes flew to her bleeding belly."No..." Alexa screamed as she crumbled, taking Nana in her laps.Hector chuckled darkly, his sword dripping, "and you really thought it was gonna end happily?"I rose to my feet, as he swung his blade again, in an attempt to strike Alexa... but before he could, I reached him stopping him mid air, trusting my sword into his head, reaping it off his body. His body fell lifeless on the floor."No Nana, not you," Alexa cried, as she tried to stop Nana's bleeding, "please don't do this to me," she rasped, desperation in her voice.Nana smiled faintly, bringing her hand to stop Alexa's tears, "please don't cry.""You are back with Alpha Kendell now, that's what matters most. That was my life's wish anyway.""No Nana,
