Chapter 2: The Will 2

H&D Group is one of the top groups in the country and belongs to the Haywood family. Although Oiliver’s Haywood Cooperation is part of the list of the top companies in the country, it is still nowhere close to his grandfather's Group, even if his company has made him a self-made billionaire.

When Grandma May heard what the lawyer said, she wept silently because she knew that her grandson didn’t want to get married or have children. She has tried many times to match him with noble ladies in the country but has failed. How will he find a wife and have a child before a year and six months is over?

Oliver’s eyes went to his grandma, who was wailing silently. Knowing how his grandfather persuaded him to get married and to give him a great-grandchild when he was alive, he is not so surprised that his grandfather will do this. This is his grandfather indirectly punishing him for not giving him great-grandchildren before he died.

"Leave us," he ordered, and the butler, including others, bowed their heads and left the private living room. It was just the lawyer, his grandmother, and him that were left in the private living room.

"So what you are telling me, Mr. Edward, is that if I do not get a wife and have a kid before a year and six months, what is left for me by my grandfather will go to orphanages?"

"Yes, Mr. Haywood, and the time starts counting after the will is read, which is today."

Not that he cared about H&D Group, but it is his father’s legacy and something he has worked hard to build for years, so he can’t just watch and see it being sold and given to orphanages.

"Is there no place where it is stated that I can have a child and not get married?"

"No, Mr. Haywood, your grandfather doesn’t want you to have an illegitimate heir."

Oliver smirked. This old man of his is really smart, but there is no way he is going to get married.

Oliver stood up and adjusted his suit. "Then hand everything to the orphanages."

Both the lawyer, who is way over 50, and his grandmother were shocked by his statement.

Grandma May stood up and pointed her index finger at him. "You heartless bastard of a grandson! How could you..." Grandma May held her chest as she pointed her other hand at him.

Seeing this, Oliver quickly rushed towards his grandmother, including the lawyer. He tried to hold her and help her sit, but she hit his hand away and stood upright by herself.

"The spirit of your grandfather will hunt you, and if I die, my spirit will hunt you for the rest of your life if you allow the legacy and hard work of your grandfather to be in vain!"

"Grandma calmed down," the lawyer told her.

"It is nobody's fault that your late father chose to take the devil as a wife!" It is not your fault that such an evil woman was your mother! Yes, you had a horrible childhood because of her and was a victim of all her evil acts. It is understandable if you hate her, but you can’t transfer that same hatred to every other woman! Not every woman is like your mother.

"Enough!!" Oliver said with a clenched fist

Grandma May realized she had said something she shouldn’t have, and seeing that it got to him, she tried to touch him, but he turned around and left.

Seeing how dark their boss's expression is, neither the bodyguards nor the driver at the front said a word or did anything to get in his bad side.

Oliver’s fist was still clenched hard when his grandmother’s statement replayed in his head continuously.

*********************

Bang!! Bang!! Bang!!

In an underground basement of his mansion, there was a shooting studio.

Oliver aimed his gun at the head of the dummy, which was positioned far from where he stood.

The moment he pulled the trigger, the bullet hit the forehead of the dummy. He continued until there were no more bullets in the gun he was using for practice. He loaded the gun again and continued shooting. As he shot, he relieved his memory of the pains from the past—his horrific childhood memories.

Shooting served as an exercise for him whenever he remembered the past; this helped him forget.

After passing several security checks in one of the most secluded and luxurious estates of upper society, Ethan finally arrived at his boss's house very early that morning to give a report about his work. His boss refuse to pick up his cell phone since last night.

Coming to this estate alone is a lot of hard work since one needs to pass several security checks. He has been here many times, and he wonders why the security personnel still have to run a check every time he comes here.

When he got into the mansion, he met the head bodyguard, Jack.

"I’m here to see the boss."

"He is in the underground basement and asked that no one disturb him."

"Noted"

Jack walked away, and when he was sure the bodyguard had gone far, he headed to the elevator and walked in the moment it opened, then pressed the bottom to the basement level.

When he got to the basement and heard the sound of a gun, he sighed.

He wondered what made his boss remember the past.

Oliver stopped shooting when he heard someone coming. "I remember saying I don’t want to be disturbed," he said furiously.

"It’s me, boss."

Oliver turned and looked at his assistant. "I don’t remember calling you over."

"Yes, but there are some documents that need sighing, and you were not picking up your calls, boss."

"Drop it at the table in my study room when you go back up, and then leave."

"Okay, boss," Ethan said, turning to leave but stopping when he was called back.

"Just before I forget, I have a task for you."

"A task," Ethan widened his eyes. Whenever his boss used that word, it meant whatever he was about to do wouldn’t be easy.

"Yes"

"What could that be, boss?" Ethan said as his heart beat rapidly.

Watching how his assistant swallowed his saliva dryly, Oliver smirked.

"You have just 48 hours to look for someone you think will be suitable for me to marry without any dirty past or background. She doesn’t have to be educated; even the non-educated one is preferable. If you fail to look for someone within 48 hours, consider yourself jobless.
