Chapter Five

When Alexander finally went back to sleep, Amelia took the opportunity to do the same. During the early hours of the morning she heard a movement in the room, imagining it to be one of the nurses.

As soon as dawn came, Amelia felt a hand grab her arm and shake her awake. As she opened her eyes, she realized that it was Ethan.

"Amelia, good morning. Can you walk me outside?" he asked in a calm, low voice and Amelia quickly nodded in agreement, getting up.

As soon as they were out of the room, she realized that Ben was also there and immediately hugged him.

"How is he?" Ethan asked, he could see the tiredness on his face.

"He's resting, but he's fine. I was able to get him to throw up most of the meds and when we arrived, he had a wash. " Amelia informed, turning her attention back to Benjamin.

" But why are you here?" She questioned curiously.

"Ben was with me. We were having dinner when Mrs. Smith called and we took the car here." Ethan answered for him and Benjamin just nodded.

As soon as Ben let go of her, it was Ethan's turn to hug her, which surprised her immediately.

" Mister Alderidge... " She said in a shy tone.

"Amelia, I don't know how to thank you. You saved Alexander's life. If it hadn't been for you he would have... "Ethan took a deep breath, trying not to cry. Benjamin rested his hand on his friend's shoulder as he comforted him.

"Mr. Alderidge. " Amelia said as she released the hug.

"Call me Ethan, please. " He asked and soon she nodded in agreement.

"Alexander needs to get some psychological counseling. His mind is broken. "She said, sitting down in an armchair outside.

"I tried to convince him, to push him, but he never wanted to," Ethan replied, putting his hands on his head. "This isn't the first time he's tried that. My brother is sinking deeper and deeper.

"And it won't be the last if he doesn't follow up. "Amelia replied, perhaps too harshly as she looked at her own wrist and then at Benjamin.

" I want to help him, Ethan. There are ways for him to get through this grieving process.  "She spoke up, taking Ethan's hand in hers. "We talked in the early hours of the morning and he opened up to me. He told me everything about the accident. And he seemed willing to try. Alexander can't live with the pain anymore, but he needs to understand that pain doesn't last forever.

"If you succeed, I will be eternally grateful to you, Amy. "Ethan replied. "I'll pay for your education and anything else you want.

Amelia stared at him, denying it with her head.

"I'll do it not for the money, but to help a friend," she replied. "Sometimes we just need a stronger push from a friend." Amelia looked directly at Benjamin who smiled and nodded.

"Ethan said, getting up and walking into the room and closing the door behind him.

A few seconds later Amelia turned her attention back to Benjamin, staring at him suspiciously.

" A little late for dinner, no? " She questioned facetiously, looking suspiciously at Benjamin.

" What do you mean, Bumblebee? " Ben asked, getting defensive.

" Do you have something you want to tell me, Benjamin Thiberius Jones? " She asked, raising one of her eyebrows at him.

"No, Amelia Josephine Jones. "He answered.

"Are you sure?" she insisted.

"What a drag, Amelia! Just ask what you want to know! "Benjamin spoke a little irritated.

Amelia stared at him, analyzing the whole situation. Finally giving up.

"No, if you don't want to tell me, I won't insist. "She replied, shrugging her shoulders. "I need some coffee.

Ethan and Benjamin left after an hour and Amelia promised to let us know if anything happened.

She returned to her room with her coffee cup and some of Alexander's belongings that Mr. Smith had brought with him that very morning. Amelia arranged Alexander's clothes and belongings in a wardrobe in the room, it was a luxury room after all. She soon saw that Alexander's documents were together with his cell phone, which she left on the table.

She didn't dare touch it.

She stayed up for part of the morning reading, she wanted to be awake in case the doctor came for a visit.

She was starting to get sleepy again when Alexander's cell phone started vibrating frantically on the table.

She saw from afar, through the light, that some messages began to appear on the cell phone's screen.

Figuring it might be important, she silently got up and picked up the cell phone. However, when she saw the messages there, her body froze in a mixture of horror and anger. After all, he had no right to do that.

"Good morning Mr. Alderige, I got what you asked for," said the first message that appeared on the cell phone screen.

"Her name is Amelia Josephine Jones, you will enjoy the interesting things I found out about this girl, especially why she moved so quickly from her old town. I will send you a folder soon. " " The man named Jonas had typed it out, causing Amelia's stomach to grow queasy.

When she finished reading, Amelia left her cell phone on the table and felt the air missing in her lungs.

She quickly left the room, she needed to stay away from Alexander at that moment.
