Sarah's pov.

I couldn't breath, as soon as I stepped further into the grand hall, the Alpha aura in the air pressed down upon me like an oppressive force.

It seemed to permeate the very air I breathed, making it difficult for me to draw in a steady breath. My heart raced at a rapid speed, and I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the authoritative power and dominance that filled the room.

Sure it wasn't a place for Omegas. I was too weak to bear it. It was making my stomach sick, and my legs weak.

Maybe I was the weakest omega, making me laugh at my own worthless self. It was really self-deprecating.

The discomfort didn't end with the overwhelming aura, but I could also feel a pair of disgusted eyes locked onto me. It was as if someone in the room was scrutinising my every move with disdain. But I didn't dare to look up and meet the eyes of Alpha's who were moving and gathering with grace.

"Stop!"

However, as I walked through the imposing hall, I was stopped in my tracks by the sudden appearance of a slender and exquisitely beautiful woman. The voice made me relax a bit as I looked up.

"What are you doing here, Sarah?" Megan asked worriedly.

It was Megan Brightwood, the Beta's daughter and, technically, my step-sister. She's really beautiful and like a princess. She was wearing a sleek black satin dress that underlined her elegance. She carried herself with the grace and poise of a true princess, I could only wish to be like her.

Megan was a figure of envy among the pack, a young woman who had enjoyed a life filled with adoration and privileges. She is a renowned supermodel, showered with fame and admirers, and her parents doted on her. She has everything from looks to loving parents. But she's also kind and pure who cares for everyone.

Unlike me who got nothing, was really nobody, unloved and uncared for, except for Rita.

"Sarah?" she shook my shoulder to jolt me out to reality. "Why on earth are you here? You can't sneak in. This place practically reeks of Alpha dominance, and it's not an atmosphere for an Omega like you," she inquired with worry.

"I'm here to serve Damien Silver," I met her gaze and replied.

Her eyes widened slightly as she took a brief moment to process my words. "What? To serve…Hunter? Do you even realise who he is?"

I shook my head, unconsciously gulping. And I don't even want to know him. "Mom sent me here."

She sighed and thought for a while before offering. "Alright, I can help you if you want. It's fine if you don't want to follow mom's order, I'll talk to her myself."

I let out a small smile at her kindness and care. "Thank you, Megan. But I don't want to make trouble for you. I'll do my duty."

"Okay..fine," She sighed. "But take care of yourself."

"I will–ouch!"

However, before I could take another step, I was struck with a disaster. I suddenly stumbled and fell to the ground, the tray I had been carrying tumbling down beside me with a loud nasty sound, its contents spilling across the floor. The hall fell into a sudden silence as all eyes turned toward me, and my heart hammered in my chest with embarrassment and anxiety.

I hissed in pain and extreme shame.

"Sarah, are you alright?" I heard Megan but she was cut off with a sharp scream that echoed through the hall. And before I could react, and look for the scream, a trail of cold water drenched me, soaking my head and dripping my face. It left me trembling and bewildered.

"How fucking dare you spill drink on my new shoes?!" The same sharp voice accused me, her voice filled with contempt and taunting. I looked up at her with water dripping from my soaked hair and clothes. My gaze set on that woman, who was clearly an Alpha who stood over me with an expression of pure fury.

"I'm sorry, ma'am! It was an accident. I didn't mean to–Ugh!" Before I could utter a word, the Alpha woman delivered a hard, stinging slap across my cheek. Pain spread out across my cheek from the impact, and tears gathered up in my eyes as I tried to comprehend what's happening suddenly.

"Accident or not you should know your place. Omega's like you shouldn't be allowed near Alpha's. It's a disgrace that they let someone like you serve us. And upon that a lowly Omega like you really have the guts to stare at me with insolence!" Her accusation continued with condescension.

I felt humiliated and weak. Suddenly I screamed when she grabbed me by my hair, her grip merciless. "Now clean my precious shoes with your tongue!"

The degradation was unbearable. "Please…I didn't d-do it intentionally—" I sobbed and tried to explain myself as I begged for forgiveness, something I'm used to now.

The chaos got everyone's attention in the hall, as I heard their whispers and snorting with humiliation, but no one offered me help or even said a word, they just watched with scornful looks.

"Shut up! You runt!" Her voice echoed but no one said anything as if the plight of an Omega servant was beneath their notice.

"Sarah, please, obey her for now. Making a bigger scene won't help you," Megan urged, stepping forward and whispering to me. I turned my wet eyes towards and looked at her pleading gaze.

I should lick her shoes for something so small?! I didn't even do it purposely. I tried hard to hold back my tears but failed miserably. Feeling humiliated and overwhelmed, I nodded reluctantly as I was forced to kneel down, and my face getting closer to that dirty shoes.

The heavy feeling in my chest made me realise yet once again how the dominance and submission works in this world where small and weak runts like us have no place or value. The overwhelming feeling of powerlessness and humiliation weighed heavily upon me, and I knew that, as an Omega, I had no real advantage in this situation, no one would to stand for me, no matter how hard I resist and endure this pain.

No one would come to save me and no one would…

"LET GO OF HER!"

A deep voice cut through the tense atmosphere, which stopped me just as I was about to press my face against her shoe.

Suddenly, I felt a chill through my entire body from the voice, causing me to shiver but not from my wet clothes.

The room fell into silence, it was a dominant voice I had never heard before, or worse never made me so shaken.

The Alpha woman's grip on my hair loosened but not completely. I watched as all eyes turned toward the source of the commanding voice.

My heart was pounding, as I dared to look up to see who it was.

  • A broken Mate   You don't have a choice

The night didn’t bring peace. It never did.I didn’t realize when I fell asleep again.Or if I ever really did.Because the bond didn’t rest.It never quieted completely—it only dimmed, like something waiting beneath the surface, patient and watchful. And sometime deep into the night…It pulled.Hard.My eyes snapped open.Darkness.Cold.And something else—Him.Not physically. But close.Too close. My breath hitched as I sat up slowly, the sheets tangling around my legs. The room was silent, the faint glow of moonlight slipping through the curtains, painting everything in silver and shadow. But the bond—It wasn’t quiet anymore. It was restless.Unstable.He’s awake, Raven said immediately, her voice tense.“I know,” I whispered. But this wasn’t just awareness. This was… agitation. It crawled under my skin, sharp and suffocating, like something clawing to get out.“What is he doing…?” I murmured.Raven didn’t answer right away. And that scared me more than anything.Because Raven al

  • A broken Mate   I dreamed of him again

The rest of the morning passed in a strange, uneasy quiet.I stayed in the dining hall long after Hunter left, staring at the half-eaten food on my plate and trying to make sense of everything that had just happened. The bond still hummed in my chest, but it felt… different now. Less like a storm and more like a steady, unrelenting tide. I could feel him somewhere in the mansion, restless and pacing, the same way I had the night before. The connection between us had changed. Not softer—never softer—but more honest. Raw. Exposed.Adrian didn’t return.I was grateful for that.I wasn’t ready to face whatever game he was playing, whatever warning he thought he was giving. The way he’d looked at me—like I was both a curiosity and a threat—made my skin crawl. And the way he’d spoken about Hunter, about what the bond might do to me… it had planted a seed of doubt I couldn’t shake.*He’s not wrong,* Raven said quietly.“I know.”*But he’s not right either.*I sighed, pushing my chair back an

  • A broken Mate   you’re already tied to their Alpha

Sarah's POV The silence after that felt… different. Not empty. Not tense in the same explosive way as before. But heavy.Like something had shifted between us, quietly, dangerously, without either of us fully understanding what it meant.I forced myself to eat.Slowly at first—small bites, mechanical, just to prove a point. But the more I ate, the more I realized how hungry I actually was. The food settled something restless inside me, grounding me just enough to think clearly again.Hunter didn’t sit back down immediately. He stayed by the window, arms crossed, staring out like he was trying to keep himself together by sheer force of will.Or maybe trying to stay away from me.The bond didn’t like that.It stretched.Pulled.A quiet, constant pressure in my chest that made it hard to ignore him even when I wanted to.Raven stirred.*He’s distancing himself on purpose.*“I can feel that,” I muttered under my breath.Hunter’s shoulders stiffened.Of course he heard. He always did.Aft

“Breakfast?” he suggested, as if nothing had happened.“I’m not hungry,” I said.“You are,” Hunter said again.I crossed my arms.“You don’t get to decide that.”“No,” he agreed. “But the bond does.”My stomach twisted. And right on cue—It growled.Loudly.Adrian burst out laughing.“Oh, that’s perfect.”Heat rushed to my face.“I hate both of you.”“That’s fair,” Adrian said easily.Hunter just looked… satisfied.Which somehow made it worse.“Come on,” he said, already turning toward the dining hall. “Eat something. Then you can go back to pretending you don’t need anyone.”I hesitated.Every instinct told me to walk away.To put distance between us.To breathe. But the bond—It pulled. Not forcefully. Not painfully. But persistently.Like a quiet voice reminding me that running wouldn’t change anything.Raven sighed softly.*You can’t avoid this forever.*“I know,” I whispered. And with that—I followed them.Back into the heart of the mansion.Back into the storm.—The dining hal

  • A broken Mate   That doesn't sound reassuring

Sarah's POV The moment we stepped back inside the mansion, the air changed. It always did.Outside, everything had felt… distant. Manageable. Like the world had softened just enough to let me breathe. But here—Everything sharpened again. The bond. The tension.Him.The grand doors shut behind us with a low, echoing thud that seemed to seal something in place. My chest tightened instinctively, like my body already knew there was no escaping whatever this was.Hunter didn’t look at me as we walked. But I could feel him.Every step.Every breath.Every flicker of control he was forcing onto himself.Raven shifted uneasily.*He’s holding back again.*“I can feel it,” I murmured under my breath.Hunter’s head tilted slightly, just enough to show he heard me.“Good,” he said quietly. “Then you’ll know when to stay out of my way.”I stopped walking.“So that’s it?” I snapped. “We have one almost-normal conversation, and now we’re back to this?”Hunter stopped too.Slowly, he turned to face

  • A broken Mate   I can walk by myself

The stillness didn’t last.It never really did in a place like this.Even when everything looked calm on the surface—sunlight spilling through the trees, birds singing like nothing in the world was broken—there was always something underneath. Something shifting. Waiting.I felt it before I heard him.The bond tightened. Not painfully. But sharply enough that my breath caught in my throat.Raven stirred instantly. He’s close. My fingers curled into the fabric of my sweater as I sat up straighter on the bench, my spine going rigid. My pulse picked up, each beat echoing too loudly in my ears.“I know,” I whispered. And then—Footsteps.Slow.Measured.Heavy enough to belong to someone who didn’t bother hiding their presence.Hunter.Of course it was him.I didn’t turn immediately. I couldn’t. Something inside me resisted—the memory of last night still too fresh, too raw. His rage. The way his hands had tightened around the beta’s throat. The darkness in his eyes. And then the way he had

  • A broken Mate   Hunter doesn’t do kindness

Sarah’s POVI didn’t understand what was happening. One moment, I was bracing myself for pain—for the sharp slap that usually followed my clumsy steps, the way he would pin me against the cold tile and growl that an omega like me didn’t deserve to breathe the same air as him. For the cutting words

  • A broken Mate   Please hold me

I stood frozen in the doorway. He threw a shirt at me. “Go and take a shower. You stink.” My chest tightened with shame, hot and suffocating, as I clutched my arms around my waist. I stink?
