The elevator opened, and I was faced with workers who looked surprised at seeing me. They all stood, hesitating to get in. “Come in,” I said. They nodded, but only three dared to enter. “We will wait for the next one, so as not to crowd you.” A male worker spoke, and they all nodded in agreement. “If you say so.” The door closed. Usually, I had used the private elevator, but Gina had informed me that it was under repair. I was exhausted from last night's situation. I didn’t even know how I got home, but I had dragged myself to wake up this morning, and for the first time in two years, I took those drugs. I couldn’t bear to stay at home and rest. Working was my dandelion, an escape. “What happened yesterday? I kept calling you.” Gina's worried face came immediately after the elevator opened. “I slept off immediately after getting home.” I lied. She followed me inside and stood in front of me while I sat. “Why? You didn’t sound tired after you left the restaurant, and you didn’t visit the mansion after insisting on it. Tell me, is everything fine? You don't look so good this morning.” She said, her voice filled with concern. “Stop worrying, mother hen, I'm as good as ever. I'm a businesswoman and I am bound to be tired now. As for the mansion, informed mom that I'll be coming next week.” I spoke, looking through the documents on the desk. “Something happened yesterday, right?” She asked again, her eyes not leaving me. “Do you want something to happen to me?” I eyed her. “Of course not.” She replied almost immediately. A knock came from the door. “Come in.” Raya, my secretary, walked in with documents. She greeted both of us. “This is the list of companies we are working with for our upcoming projects.” She placed the document on the table. “What of M&M, what did they say about the sole collaboration?” Gina asked. M&M was a rising international fruit company, a perfect collaboration to expand my company internationally, but they wanted a double collaboration with another company, and it wasn’t beneficial for us, as we had all the resources. Gina has been the one in charge of the board members while I've been occupied with other work. “They won't budge, and the deadline is closing in. Everyone at the board has agreed with it.” Raya answered, and Gina rolled her eyes. “They are just being greedy. They can all agree to it as they want, as long as you don’t approve it, there is nothing that can be done.” I smiled. “You know that is business. Smaller companies will cling to bigger ones to climb to the top. M&M is doing exactly that, and good for them, they have more than one company to cling to.” I added. “If they won't yield, let's sign the contract since the board has agreed.” The room grew quiet. I looked up from the now-sighed document to Gina. “Aren't you wondering which company it is?” “Nope. As long as it isn’t among my blacklisted companies.” I went back to signing the remaining documents. “It's cordisR group.” I looked up to Gina as her words sank in. Stretching my hand, I collected the remaining document from Raya. Arthur's image appeared with his company's name on top. I flipped through the pages. “You may leave Raya.” I heard Gina said. “What is this?” “Initially, I rejected the project, but Raphael encouraged the board members to pursue the project. I didn’t disclose this to you as I wanted to persuade the company about making us sole owners, but they are hellbent on making a collaboration with cordisR.” “This shouldn’t be a discussion. Arranged a board meeting now, I will go speak with Raphael.” While I was the owner of the company and the biggest shareholder, Raphael was the third biggest shareholder, after my dear Father bought shares from one of my weak shareholders who had sold because of Dad's influence. I knocked on Raphael's door, but got no response. Knowing he was inside and probably fooling around to notice me, I entered without an invitation, and I wasn’t surprised. “Sis,” Raphael said, almost not in shock. The employee, in between his legs, rushed up in fright to fix her clothes. “Miss Carly.” She was flushed at being caught. “It's work hour, what are you doing here?” “I, I wa .....” She shuttered. “Don't be so hard on her, sis, I called her over,” Raphael said with a smile. He stood up and signaled her to leave. She nodded, about leaving. “Mrs Regal.” I read her ID card as she stopped beside me. She was from the marketing department. “A team will be coming to your department later. ” Realisation set on her face, and she nodded, her expression pained but she knew not to beg. She wasn’t the first person to fool around with Raphael and get fired. Though she looked sad, she bowed and left. While it may appear Raphael was interested in her, he wasn’t, it was to plant a mole among my workers. And if I didn’t see them today, someone would have reported it soon. Seeing she was out, Raphael walked toward me. “You didn’t have to do that, she did nothin......” I didn’t let him finish before using the document I had come with to smack his face. He staggered, his eyes realizing what I just did. I threw the papers at him. “I´ve warned you before to stop messing with my employees. Why don't you ever listen?” His brows furrowed in anger as he flipped through the papers. Raphael was younger than me by four years. While we had a striking resemblance due to our father. I couldn’t help but hate him. He act naive and timid, especially when he called me his sister. But that was all a facade, I knew not to trust his actions. “Why are you taking out your anger on me over this?” He yelled, almost whining. “Father was the one who signed it and spoke to the board, not me.” “Why would Father sign with cordisR when it's my project?” I asked, scooting to the floor to look at him. His eyes widened in fear seeing me close. “I don't know, he said it was a good project and working with cordisR leads us more into international market, and besides, the M&M project is of high stakes now.” I glared at him. “Then go tell father, if he insists on working with them, he should consider selling his shares out as well as the board members. My team will be ready to buy them all.”Carly “And then you lost your manners, and forgot to knock when it isn't your room,” Celia scorned, her demeanor changing like she wasn't the sweet Celia who was talking to me a while ago. But then if someone had tried drowning me, I would hate them too. “Come on Celia, you should boil down your anger. We haven't seen each other in years, that’s a whole lot of time for anything to happen, and change, right sister in law.” Celia, rolled her eyes." “Is that your new engraved mask?” She laughed, not the usual one, but a very awkward laugh. “Try again Selena, because though you have a new one, I'm sure your old one is still there.” She pointed at her chest. “The little part where the scheming little bitch is, can never be fixed.” Celia's voice is belittling, but Selena's? She only smiled like nothing was getting to her.As I watched both of them, one radiated anger, anger surrounding her space, and the other held a facade, and I wondered how deadly the deed was behind it. “Now tha
Carly Everyone started eating, and not wanting to seem rude, I joined in, picking at the food. I couldn’t just bring myself to eat. “Hm, sorry to cause disturbance, but Master Arthur asked to give this to Lady Carly.” A servant walked in with a little bowl in her hand, her eyes weaving, looking at us. Her hands clung to her apron. She was shy. And then her words settle in. Arthur prepared something for me? I looked at her, and our eyes met. Everyone seemed to have the same thought. “Master Arthur said you shouldn’t eat anything, since you ate breakfast. It’s better not to upset your stomach.” She said in one breath, her tone deepened as she tried imitating exactly how the message was delivered. Though nervous, she walked to me and dropped the plate in my front. Then bowed before leaving immediately. Looking at the plate, it was just sliced apples on it. If he was here, I had properly reminded him of what he prepared this morning. But there Arthur was being thoughtful, prepa
Carly “Celia, mind your language!” Older Wilder scolded with a frown. He stood up. “Everyone invited here is family, don't act that way.” “But grandfather-” Older Wilder cock his brows at her, and she zipped up. Though she wanted to say more. She turned, sulking, and walked out of the room, not without sparing me a glance. Whoever had arrived wasn't someone she liked. I turned to Arthur, but he held no expression. “Come child, my kids aren't so well-behaved.” Older Wilder stopped in front of me, waiting for me to follow him. I didn't even know he had walked to me. I stood up and followed him, and with Arthur walking behind us, slow, taking his time. We passed two servants who bowed at us, and I don’t miss the way they steal peeks at Arthur. And that sent a feeling I couldn’t understand to my stomach. They are humans, and should look at anyone, however, there should be decency. We walked passed them and headed downstairs. “Father,” A lady stood up from the couch, as she turne
Carly The ride to the mansion was loud. Not from us talking, but because Arthur decided to blast our space with music, and worse? He sang along, every bit, every piece. While I could only stare at the window. Not giving in to his words about me joining. At that moment, he had looked exactly like the Arthur of the past. We arrived in front of the Wilder mansion and stepped out of the car, then followed Arthur in. Only to be welcomed with another round of music filling the house, only that it was country music. My brows knotted, feeling annoyed at having sensitive ears. “Who did hell turn on that shit? I swear Celia.” Arthur suddenly yelled by my side and then moved passed me, heading upstairs, and leaving me behind. What was wrong with him today? He was so high-spirited. “Oh my goodness. I didn't know you were in already.” Celia came out from a room at the side, a grin spreading over her face. “We just came in,” I spoke as she came to stand in front of me. I’d only found out ab
CarlyI opened my eyes to the bright room. It was yet another day of our honeymoon. And I couldn't wait for it to be over. I sat up on the bed. Letting everything settle in. My eyes went over the bottle of drugs which I had taken from Arthur last night. I’d be scared thinking that I lost it, but then, getting down to get my phone, I suddenly saw Arthur entering with it in his hand. My heart had picnic, but then I remembered that I’d turned the drugs into my vitamin bottle after taking it from my mansion. I never knew he was a scary cat. Guess you can never trust the muscles and height. And the food has been good. Surprisingly so. Mother’s food was the only one I could taste fully, but now he has added to it. Evelyn has said it was because of my past with him. And I believed it, with how my body responded to his touch last night. If he had gone further, I’d turned to a needy mess. My core twitched. I groaned closing my thighs. I needed not think of such in the morning. Gettin
ArthurShe had reluctantly sat down. She must have caught on earlier that I won’t be freeing her if she doesn't. I placed the two bowls of rice and soup with perfect vegetables on the table, in front of her. Carly may want to deny it, but her body and her eyes won’t stop following me around. Dropping the glass of water on the table. I turned, leaving for my room, but I knew my dear Carly's gaze was fixed on me. She would think I was upset, but hell no. Though my heart twisted knowing she was touched, but from whatever’s word, it wasn't successful. His stupid ass even promised to do better, I’d cut off his dick before he does that. He was going to replace me? I scoffed. Remembering the bullshit he uttered out of his mouth. Yes, he was attractive, but he wasn't Carly’s type. He wasn't man enough. I'm the only one good and better for her. I entered my room. Taking off my clothes, then entered the shower, bathing off his presence from my body. I wondered if Carly was eating. I wo
