LOGIN“We’ll never be happy.” “I’ll make us happy as long as you want.” I ran my hand through my hair. “Why do you want this?” “Because there was never a time when I didn't want you?” Arthur Wilder was once an apology I thought was sent to me, but he turned out to be a calm before the storm, a storm that almost cost my life and led to my biggest darkness, which still lingers in my soul. Years later, when I thought I was finally in control, powerful and unstoppable, he was back to take charge of my life. But how can I be with the source of my nightmare?

I rolled up the car at the parking lot, stepping out only to sigh at the car once more. It was a McLaren Speedtail this time, reportedly one of only two in the world, and I wondered how my grandfather had obtained it. A car so fancy that it draws attention was a typical way of my grandfather. Attention seeking, loud. “Ms Carly,” I looked at Mr Harrison, the manager of the 5-star restaurant. Gina must have told him about the date I had, for him to know the timing to come down. “We have prepared an excellent room for you. Your date, Mr Johnson, is waiting inside.” I nodded and followed him inside. Unlike others who had entered through the front door of the 5-star restaurants that stood in the middle of country S, I followed the back door to avoid unnecessary interruption. It was all part of keeping my image from the media. “Mr Johnson asked for a room that has a city view, though I insisted on you liking a close room, he won't compromise.” “Let it be, I will be done in a few minutes anyway. Please ask for a bottle of red wine to be sent later.” Mr Harrison nodded as we got to the room. He bowed slightly and I entered. Mr Johnson stood from his chair upon seeing me. He was handsome, his face cleanly shaved as if he wanted to impress. “Ms Carly, I finally get to see you. You look even better in person.” He said, stretching his hands for a handshake. I stared down at his hand and sat down, without taking it. “Your Grandfather said you frequent this restaurant, and I thought to bring you here. While it isn’t the top restaurant in the city, it sure has a great view.” He commended. “Hmm.” The city view wasn’t bad to look at. But unlike others who find great pleasure in this, I would rather stay in a space that is closed. “I'm Johnson Calanthe,” He tried again, introducing himself. This time, I looked at him. Before getting here, I've read about him. A young man who has an ambitious heart guided by his mother. Mr Johnson has daddy issues, and that was why I was curious to see him. The door opened and Mr Harrison and a lady whom I wasn’t familiar with entered with our meal. A bottle of wine sat beautifully in his hand. “Château Lafite Rothschild is our new collection. I hope you enjoy it. ” He poured the wine into a glass as the lady placed the food on the table. I took a sip. It tastes like sending my tongue to heaven. “You always knew the best wine for me, Mr Harrison. Thank you.” I said with a smile. “Always my pleasure. Now I will leave you to enjoy your date.” With that, they left the room. “You sure know your wine, Ms Carly. I personally enjoy white wine more than red wine.” He picked up his glass and took a sip, his eyes boring into mine. It was a conversation to have, but I didn't want to have it. Picking up my fork, I dug into the steak, taking a bite. “The media described you as cold and ruthless, but they failed to tell how beautiful you look.” He laughed at his words as I waited to be done with the date. These were all plans of my grandfather who was worried about me being twenty-four. He was worried that I would turn old alone, but my grandfather was a bad judge of character, and he won't understand that I chose to live this way. He doesn't understand that these people were fixated on our family wealth, they all saw me as a gemstone to be acquired. And once again, I listened as Mr Johnson spoke about the benefits of our marriage to the business world. I dropped my fork. “You told grandfather that you were interested in me.” “Uh, yes.” He gave a sheepish laugh. “I saw you the first time at a company opening, so I...” “Then you got close to my grandfather, and lied to him that you love me and wanted to talk to me.” “I did and...” “But you didn’t let him know that you only have eyes for my business, right?” I asked with a smile, and he swallowed. “It isn’t like that.... Ms..” He shuttered. “I wasn’t expecting much when I came in, and you didn’t disappoint me, Mr Johnson. Next time, when you want to talk about business, spare my grandfather and visit my secretary instead.” With that, I stood up, wanting to leave. “I'm sorry, Ms Carly, I shouldn’t have lied to your grandfather. I genuinely wanted to talk to you. Please give me a chance.” He stood up, attempting to stop me as he walked forward, standing between the door and me. “Mr Johnson, this was your only chance, and too bad, we have finished the meal.” I pointed to the table filled with barely touched food. I sighed. “I will ask someone to send a gift to your place later. Please make sure not to show your face to my grandfather anymore.” I picked up my bag. “Does being rich give you the right to act this way?” He suddenly yelled, and I took a step back. “You don't want to offend me, Mr Johnson. Please move away from the door.” My voice was stern but I was afraid of the sudden outburst. My words must have brought realization as he suddenly grabbed my left arm. “I didn’t mean to say that......” But it was a wrong move. I panicked and jerked my hand away from him, and glared at him, my eyes blazed with fury at his touch. I stormed out of the room. My eyes were burning with each step I hurried to the bathroom. I turned on the faucet and placed my arm under, letting the water rush over my arms as I scrubbed away his touch. Tears streaming down my face, as if the touch could be scoured away.Carly I stopped in front of the building, and came down from the car, with my glasses protecting my eyes from the sun. The door opened and my therapist stepped out. Her work clothes were the usual black office skirt and a baby pink shirt topping it this time. I was sure she loved the dress the most because it revealed her curves. She smiled brightly when she set her eyes on me. “Oh, my dear Carly. I wasn't expecting you to fix a meeting so soon.” She walked towards me and, of course, pecked me on both cheeks. I smiled. She was so forgiving, and she never failed to show that. “Something came up so,” I shrugged, expecting her to complete the statement. She smiled. “That's what I'm here for. Now, let’s go in.” She held my hand and I followed her inside. The something that came up had to be with everything that happened yesterday night with Arthur. I had spent the night thinking about it. Thinking about my reaction towards him. Fear that something was wrong with me as Arthur
CarlyOur eyes locked for seconds, and maybe it was my head because I heard the clock tick.I broke our gaze and turned, walking to my drawer. I brought out my hand gel and applied it to my nails. It stung, but I didn’t flinch. I could feel Arthur’s eyes following all my movements.I wondered if Olivia was still in the building, or she was in his room? That won’t be shocking, though. He had even allowed her to cling to him tightly. He was so disrespectful.I wondered what he wanted to say. Was it to rebuke me for slapping her? He shouldn’t because I won’t hesitate to do it again.“How does your hand feel?”My head whipped to look at him. Was he seriously concerned now about my hand? I turned back to close the bottle of gel.“You shouldn’t bother with it. You should care more about your girlfriend's face. After all, this hand,” I raised my hand to his face. “Did hit her.”I took out my drawer, then took a hair band, before putting it over my head to make a ponytail.“You have changed.”
CarlyMy palm hurt after slapping her, but I stood boldly. Olivia held her face, her face red with anger.“How dare you!” She yelled, and I flinched, but I didn’t show it.I didn’t want to tolerate being insulted. I didn’t want anyone ever looking down on me. And I didn’t want anyone ever making me feel rejected, and that’s why I had slapped her.“You crazy bitch! How dare you slap me?” She yelled, tears swelling from her eyes, and I don’t know why it made me feel so good. So happy to show her where she belongs.“You,” I poked her chest, and she slapped my hand off.Maybe my temper was all over the building due to my medication. Because I suddenly felt the need to slam her head on the wall, as smoke covered my head. I stared at her. I couldn’t do that, so I shoved her to my door.“Bitch?” I laughed. “You are a crazy bitch to think you could come here and act however you like.” I shoved her again, “Who told you that you could speak to me however you like?!” Now, I yelled, and it felt s
CarlyI didn’t want to let her in as I watched her. She seemed so pissed off as she glared at the camera, as if knowing I was watching her.The memory of the last time we met wasn’t a good one, especially since it was meeting Arthur after so long. And now she was here. She hit the button again, and my sensitive ears flared at the noise, and I opened the door.Olivia looked surprised seeing me, but it soon shifted as she narrowed her eyes.“Wow,” She scoffed, her eyes travelled down from my face to my legs. I was still in my night gown, which was barely above my knees.“I can’t believe this is happening. Where is Arthur?” She asked, her voice high-pitched. Impatience to be answered.“Don’t you think it’s common courtesy to let me know who you are and what you are doing, after continuously ringing the door?”Yes, I acted like I didn’t know her. And that flared her because she opened her eyes.“Are you seriously pretending not to know me now?” She snapped. Her inability to stay still ge
CarlyI walked downstairs to the refrigerator to get water. Opening the bottle, I drank from it and then closed it back to put it inside the fridge. It was morning, and the sky was still filled with blue clouds. As always, I woke up so early, unable to sleep fully after spending all night looking at the room. It wasn’t anything new from my house, though the environment was different, the room was designed to look like my room at my mansion. Yet it felt so foreign. I placed my hand on my head, noticing that I was burning. All night, I couldn’t get my drugs. I’ve searched, over and over again. But had later concluded that my housekeeper must have kept it away from the men. Yes, she knew of my condition and knew to protect such as it could cause damage to me. The CEO of multiple companies who couldn’t live without drugs. Who had freakout without drugs? That had made a crazy headline. Just like now.It was just a night that I couldn’t get my hands on them, yet it felt like my head was
GinaThe call ended immediately. My heart beat louder as I rushed downstairs knowing fully well, who it was. But how come he was here? I didn’t hear him driving, and I had thought he was with people, but all this time, he was in front of my house. I opened the door, my stupid head, not thinking of the danger that would have been if it ended up not being what I expected. But it was, because Liam stood tall, his hair brushed backward, his green eyes zeroed on me as he looked down at me, with his over six feet figure. I wanted to scream at how perfectly he was built. He didn’t say anything, but his eyes did everything as it looked from my chest, still on my half showing breast then down to my shorts, and when it moved to my left finger, like he knew the finger which I had used to pleasure myself, my cheeks flushed. “When did you get h-“ I gasped as I was lifted, over his waist. My legs wrapped around his stomach, my head above his, and my chest right in front of his face. His han
