Chapter 2: The Monied Kingdom

Starting with the background of their family. All rumors about her family associated with drugs or how they are right hands of high government officials were all lies rather they were a family of Royals. Read that again. Royals. All this time I was friends to a royal, before we head on with excitement. She tells us they are not the Royals that we call Kings, Queens and prince or princesses because her family refused being one. Their social ranking status were Duke and Duchess, Just below the King and Queen. Ever since her Grandpa died because of old age, they decided to leave the life of luxury. Even so, the title was still passed down so by law they are still richer than what we actually thought. Going back, she did tell us she has the bloods of a Royal. For the reason was his grandad was actually a prince! Which makes her a princess but her grandad didn’t want the title or rule over the land so he passed it down to his brother which is now, King of the Monied Empire, Known as King Francis Mrithun. The grandad before was known as crown prince or Prince Abel Mrithun. So Sasha’s Full name according to the Monied Empire practice was Duchess Sasha Mrithun of the North. From the start, I was questioning her family name, it was not common. It all made sense now. Oh the story does not stop there, Did you forgot Michael? So obviously the story was just getting started.

Now we all knew that Sasha is a Duchess of the Monied Kingdom. Here comes the mighty Michael. Michael is a candidate to be king, one of the 4 candidates to be exact. The night that I saw Sasha was actually the night her mother announced her marriage with Sir Michael. I prefer calling him sir. I can’t bring myself calling by his name when knowing who he is. She was crying her eyeballs out because the announcement was too sudden. When they left the Monied Kingdom, she thought she could actually live a more normal life. At least she thought she could marry someone she loved and not because of convenience. So the announcement took a toll on her and just went outside to cry. Fortunately, she knew Sir Michael since she was young. They were childhood friends. Just between you and me, she had a crush on him too. She says it was just infatuation, but from the looks of it she is head over heels for the guy. I couldn’t disagree, the person was perfect.

He is also a Duke but his territory is the West. In his place he is called Duke of the West or Duke Michael ET Blanc. Surely by the name you know he is not an ordinary person. Along with is how he is a famous bachelor because of is charismatic looks before announcing he is getting married. He was also known as good leader, a mathematician and called the best in the business. The sad part is I don’t scroll through or look up the royals from other countries. Which explains as to why I didn’t recognize him and why Belinda was not fazed at all by his presence. Also explains the ruckus in the hallway earlier, it was his fans bewildered why such a person is in school. According to him, He got himself permission from the principal to be able to pick up his fiancé. They also got permission to enjoy lunch there with the principal.

Long story short, Sasha and Michael are engaged with each other while keeping in mind my both of them are now candidates as King and Queen of the Monied Empire. Because Sir Michael was a candidate to be king and by marrying Sasha would make his chances higher to be chosen by the high council for Sasha on paper was a princess. Explains why the inside of the house felt like it’s not from around here. The Monied Kingdom can be found miles away from Plarie, Condaria.

The Monied Kingdom is known for its vast riches of gold and diamond. Despite being the 7th largest country in measuring their lands but their net worth per year is something else. They are #1 richest country with a net worth of 150 billion Dorrie per year. The country is also known for its tourism. If you plan to visit, you may need a year or two to have reservations for all hotels. Some say their secret for being the top country in the world is none other than how the rulers rule the land. The laws they implement are always met which is why they are also one of the five safest place to live in this modern day, where just close your eyes for 3 seconds expect everything to be gone in a flash. The Flash. Thinking now, it must be nice to live there.

“Well, all good news is always followed by bad news.” Sasha’s last words while tears are rolling down. She said she has three weeks from now before she goes back and marries Sir Michael. The wedding date is May 4, 2025. It will be official and her coming back to school would be a dream. She will be homeschooled to study politics and business affairs as to be ready to rule if she is chosen to be the next Queen of Monied Kingdom. If that doesn’t happen then she will still remain in the West to support her husband.

After dissolving all that information, I got the courage to speak. I interrupt her moment of crying and ask her “Just a random question. Are we invited?” She laughs then followed by the laughs of Sir Michael and Belinda. As always I know how to brighten up their mood. This is how I fit in this friendship.

“Well of course, I will get the Queen to write a letter to invite both of your families. I’m sure Aunt Grandma would love to meet you,” she said to us happily with her smile reaching ear to ear. Now everything has been cleared.

The only thing left was us to start packing. Her family was in-charge with our expenses and we would be staying at her estate for 2 weeks. The first week was just to get the things we needed in the wedding like the gowns, Hats and shoes. The first week will be hectic so we were told that a tour over the land was impossible. By the second week, we will have our time to explore and pick out some souvenirs. For in that time, the wedding is done so there is nothing else to do other than enjoy.

Gowns based on what Sasha explained, it was to showcase not only our beauty but also the status of families. And as for us who was commoners, we can wear anything we wanted as long as it was appropriate or not too flashy. This were bits of information Sasha revealed as I ask for more information. Truth be told, I am still bewildered on the situation. I mean can you even blame me. I am sitting to a potential King and Queen of the Monied Kingdom.

After we had our snacks, she informed us that our families are invited for a dinner to explain the situation. Dinner was on Friday. Belinda and I left her place. Our house were in different direction so we said our goodbye in the front gate then started walking. I may look okay on the outside but deep inside I want to scream. I have a talent for keeping a straight face despite all of this. Imagine I will be visiting the Monied Kingdom and will be meeting the Royals. I think this is what it feels like being the main character. Everything is ordinary then suddenly a life-changing event will happen to me. I put more thought into it.

No, I am just a side character. The one who will have a life changing event is Sasha. Sasha is getting married and on the top of that she may or may not become Queen. I was so excited that logic suddenly went out of the window.

 I like the thought of Sasha actually marrying Sir Michael because of love and not because of the contract. Seems the universe made its move. It would be hard for a random person to marry Sasha. Sasha is a handful. She sometimes gets too full of herself and do something stupid. Knowing that Sir Michael is the one whom she will be marrying. It makes me happy that they know each other so nothing will surprise him anymore, hopefully.

I should tell my mom about the dinner too. I wonder what the dinner will look like. Seeing how elegant everything just having snacks. Will we be eating something expensive? Steak perhaps? I wonder what the rich eats. I will make sure to savor it every bite.
