Chapter Five

"Don't worry about me, I'm on vacation too, I will be here all month doing what I like." Jaxon replied.

"Ohhh…I'll only be here for a week." She said.

"You want to go somewhere fun now? We could go to an arcade around here."

"And then you say, 'bills on me'' Serena tried to mimic his much deeper voice.

"You can pay if you want to, I'm just being a gentleman." They were at the road that led to the hotel, how fast. How did he even know where she was going? She stopped abruptly.

"What's wrong?" He asked, raising a brow. She liked the way his face looked when he did it.

"It's nothing, we can part ways from here." Serena extended her hand to him in a hand shake gesture. He looked down at it. She wasn't so tall and not so short either, but Jaxon was quite tall with the way he towered above me. It was quite intimidating.

"I'll be seeing you tomorrow?" He said before shaking my hand.

She did a quick mental check of her schedule. She didn't have a schedule. She didn't have plans for tomorrow. "Yes." I said.

"Same place?" He asked.

"Same spot" Serena smiled as she noticed they were standing at the same place of the incident, but instead of shaking her, he leaned forward and brushed a finger over the corner of her lips. She shivered at his touch. He is too close.

"You enjoyed the burger so much," he smiled as he stepped back a bit and rubbed his fingers on a poster on the wall.

"Thank you." She smiled and walked away from him. Why was I shaking like that? She thought. He was just wiping off the leftover cream on her lips. Dang it! Why would she think he was going to kiss her?

Serena got to the hotel, it was already 7pm. It had been a long day, and it wasn't bad after all. She had to shower.

As she took off her hoodie in front of her mirror, her mind went over what had happened while she was out. The way Jaxon had pulled her from the road. She had to admit, he was a life saver. And how he offered to take her to a restaurant. Even though he seemed arrogant, he was sweet, and she loved it.

She began to wonder where they'd go the next day. She thought of cancelling, she didn't want to appear easy to him, but on another thought, she knew she couldn't avoid him. He seemed like he was always around every corner of the street. He knew Mareco better than she did.

They hadn't even exchanged numbers, it would be rude to leave him standing and waiting for her. She had to go. She wanted to see him again. She wanted to feel his presence around her.

Serena had to slap herself to stop dreaming of the stranger she had met. She had her bath and slipped into her night dress. As she went to draw her curtains, so she could go to bed, her attention was drawn to the room at the opppsite building again.

The light on the balcony was on. For some reason, it sent shivers down her spine. Why was she scared anyway? Why did she feel awkward about the room facing hers directly?

She tried to push the thought of someone watching her from there away. She yawned and willed herself to sleep. There were so many other things that could occupy her thoughts at that moment. And Jaxon was top on the list.

Serena woke up to her alarm the next morning. She smiled, and went about with her morning routine as usual. She went for a morning exercise in the hotel's gymnasium, showered and had breakfast in the restaurant.

When she felt it was time to go into the city, she opened her box and searched for something to wear. The temperature was quite good, so she picked a black dress with a little white daisy pattern that stopped just above her knees.

Unlike the previous day, she paid attention to her look. She didn't like that he made her feel the way she felt. After trying different shades of lipstick and not liking them, she wiped her face and used her lip moisturizer only. She was only going to see a mean jerk after all.

She got to the junction where they had met. He seemed to be nowhere around, so she thought of going into a nearby cafe. As she made up her mind to sit in the cage for a while, since she could get a good view of the road if hse stayed close to the window, someone tapped her on her shoulder.

There he was, and of course with the lemon scent. It wasn't as strong as before. Maybe she had gotten used to it

"Uhm…hey, hey" Serena waved as she turned to look at him. He was taller than her, but she had to cover her eyes, to prevent the sun's rays from entering hee eyes as she loooked up at him.

"What happened?" Jaxon asked.

Serena was quite confused. "What do you mean by what happened?"

His eyes moved from her face down to her legs. She was lost. "Looks like someone put in more effort into looking good today." Jaxon smirked.

"It's just a dress, you jerk." Serena retorted.

" I'm not arguing. You can't take a compliments or what?"

"Ugh" Serena grunted. "As if"

"I don't think I'm ready for another road argument." Jack raised his hands up in surrender. Serena rolled her eyes. "So what are your plans?"

Serena gave him a "what do you mean" stare. "I wouldn't be here if someone hadn't asked me to be here."

"Really?" Jaxon moved close to her, he was only two steps away. She began to question her safety in her mind. The way he stared at her was quite scary…then he smirked. "So I'm in charge. If you cooperate, it would be worth your while." He smiled.

Serena paused for a while. "I'd cooperate if you stop acting like some psychopath from a thriller."

Jaxon shrugged and got his phone from his pocket. Out of the blue, almost like the previous day, a cab pulled up beside them.
