Amber POV

At first, I thought the satellite feed was malfunctioning.

One command center exploding could have been an accident.

Two was suspicious.

Three was impossible.

I stared at the screen as another red marker vanished, replaced by smoke rising above the jungle.

"What the hell is happening?"

One of the guards stepped closer to my station.

Before either of us could say anything else, every screen in the cave suddenly turned black.

A deafening alarm echoed throughout the island.

WARNING. WARN

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   A baby

Amber POVThe doctors were not happy about me flying to River City.Jason was even less happy about it, which was impressive considering he was the one who ultimately arranged the flight, the medical clearance, the additional security, and enough monitoring equipment to make me feel as though we were transporting a critically endangered species instead of a six-months-pregnant woman. But there was no possibility of me staying behind.Rose and Iris had decided to speak publicly, and if they wanted me there, I would be there. All of us flew to River City together. Mr. and Mrs. Sun came with us, and Grandpa was already there. Mr. Stait and Emory had traveled ahead to coordinate with military and police officials because this wasn't going to be presented as a family dispute or another scandal between wealthy families. This was a criminal investigation. The statement would be given from a government facility, with representatives from the military, police, and investigators standing togeth

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   it's not only the Beckers

Amber POVJason contacted the trustees of the St. Johns family the following morning.I expected the process to be complicated considering the amount of money involved in the trust, but complicated turned out to be an understatement. The trustees had apparently spent decades preparing for people to appear claiming some distant relationship to the vanished family. There were protocols for everything, including exactly how a potential heir's DNA could be collected. The test couldn't be done privately. There would be witnesses present during the collection, representatives from the trust, an independent laboratory, legal observers, and enough documentation to establish an unquestionable chain of custody from the moment Jason's sample was taken until the results were certified.Jason listened to the explanation without complaining."When?""We can arrange the collection in three days," the trustee told him through the video call. "However, Mr. Sun, you should understand that the results w

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Not because of the fortune

Amber POVFor once, my phone ringing brought good news.I was in the living room, comfortably trapped beneath a blanket with my feet elevated, when Pamela's name appeared on the screen. Jasmine was already connected when I answered, and the expression on both their faces immediately told me they'd found something."Please tell me one of you is calling because you've finally found my merchandise."Jasmine grinned. "We found your merchandise."I sat up so quickly that Jason, who was working a few feet away, immediately looked over."Where?"Pamela actually laughed. "You're going to hate this."That wasn't encouraging."Where, Pamela?""Inside one of your own warehouses."I frowned. "You already checked the Asher Corporation warehouses.""Not Asher Corporation."I stared at her. Then it clicked."No."Jasmine's smile widened. "Yes.""Asher-Phoenix?""They've been storing everything inside the Asher-Phoenix building."For several seconds, I couldn't say anything. Then I started laughing.

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Ember

Amber POVThere was no useful information about the disappearance of the St. Johns family. That alone bothered me.Jason had activated every Chronos contact he trusted and searched through private databases, government archives, old university records, corporate registries, property transactions, newspapers, and decades-old society pages. We could reconstruct the St. Johns family's history almost perfectly until one particular point. Then they simply disappeared. There was no public collapse, no bankruptcy, no mass funeral, no announcement that the family had left the country. Their companies didn't gradually fail, and their properties weren't publicly liquidated. A family wealthy and influential enough to leave footprints everywhere suddenly stopped leaving them at all.The one thing Jason managed to establish with certainty was where the St. Johns family had originated.Sum."The St. Johns were from Sum," Jason said one afternoon.I looked away from the reports I'd been reading. At

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   St. Johns

Amber POVJason was stressed, but beneath all the confusion, anger, and questions, I could see something else in him that I hadn't expected.Relief.It felt strange to call it that when we'd just discovered that the man Jason had believed was his biological father might not actually be his father, but I understood where the feeling came from. For years, Jason had tried to understand how Mr. White could have given him away so easily. Even after we'd learned that the Vincents had pressured him, even after Mr. White claimed he'd been threatened and hadn't truly been given a choice, one fact remained impossible to excuse. He had accepted money for Jason. There were softer ways to describe it, but I wasn't interested in using them. If someone gave you money in exchange for taking away your child and you accepted it, you sold your child. Whatever threats had accompanied the transaction didn't erase that fact."I hope he's not my father," Jason admitted quietly. We were in our bedroom, where

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Who is

Amber POVWe waited until evening to tell Mr. and Mrs. Sun.We simply asked them to meet us in the living room.Jason was firmly enforcing my bed-rest restrictions, so walking downstairs apparently required the level of supervision normally reserved for transporting a head of state."I can walk.""I know.""Then stop holding my arm.""No.""I'm pregnant, not ninety.""Your blood pressure was high.""You're raising it."That made Mrs. Sun look up from the sofa as we entered."He's right."I stared at her."You don't even know what we're arguing about.""I heard enough."Mr. Sun laughed from his chair.Traitors.All of them.Jason helped me settle onto the sofa, arranged a cushion behind me, and only then sat beside me.Mrs. Sun looked between us."What happened?""The babies are fine," I said immediately. Her shoulders visibly relaxed."Then what is it?"Jason handed her the DNA report.Mrs. Sun read it.Her expression slowly changed.Mr. Sun noticed and leaned closer."What?"She hand

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Plan

We moved quickly through the hallway. Adrian walked behind me, gun raised, covering the corridor while I forced Henry Watson forward. The mansion was quieter than expected. Too quiet. Which meant either the guards were regrouping… or Jason was already on his way. I glanced over my shoulder.

Jason POV Marcus nearly slammed the brakes. “She shot the camera!” I leaned back slowly. Marcus looked at me. “What the hell was that?” I ran a hand over my face. “She said hello husband before she shot it.” Marcus stared. “…Okay.” Silence filled the car. “…What does that mean exactly?”

  • A Woman Worth Billions, Dated the Wrong Brother   Drama

Family drama. Honestly, I was getting tired of it. I shifted slightly in the chair, letting the ropes around my wrists rub just enough to make the guards think I was uncomfortable. In truth, they had tied them loosely—political kidnappers rarely knew how to do proper restraints. Across from me,
