Mag-log inGwen POV
The moment Damian ordered my transfer, the whole newsroom became silent, and only the hum of the air conditioner was heard.
It seemed to me as if time stopped, and I was in the middle of it.
My body froze. I really did not know what game Damian was playing. Was he trying to give hints about our relationship?
Gwen POVMy knees buckled. I lost control of my legs and reached toward the bed. My hands pressed to keep my balance.I could not believe it.“How?” I asked, tears welling in my eyes. I wanted to ask a lot of questions, but that was the only word that came off my lips. My mind is in a jumble. I really do not know what to think.Damian has always been a fair man, and I had long puzzled over the hatred that his family has for him, especially Damon. They were twins. I had read somewhere that twins had a special bond. But not in Olson's case.Damon always believed the worst of his brother. He never once defended Damian from his family.“He found Damian and kidnapped him.”I shut my eyes, as an image of the brothers came into my mind. I could picture them arguing. They could exchange harsh words and punch each other in the face. But I can not picture one hurting the other with the intent to kill.Damon has always been a kind and gentle person. Caring. I can’t imagine him hurting his own br
Gwen POVIt did not take Baron long to haul us out of the hospital and into the airport, where a private plane was already waiting for us.At first, the hospital won’t let us until Dr. Chloe butted in. She volunteered to monitor my condition. It was only then that the hospital gave us her consent.“Thank you,” I told her.She shook her head. “You are my patient. Mr. Olson paid me to look after you.”I shouldn’t be surprised. Mason told me about it. I was just too stubborn right then to take advantage of Damian’s goodwill. I thought that by not showing up for my sessions with Dr. Chloe, I wouldn’t be indebted to Damian further. But I was wrong.“So please stop trying to hide from me, hmm.” Dr. Chloe said. She sounded scary, but that was expected. I never showed up for my appointments before.“I am sorry.”Dr. Chloe shrugged.“As long as we are clear on the matter.”And to my surprise, she smiled at me.I felt Jo grip my hand and bite my lip. I was glad that she was here.My gaze was fi
Baron POVGwen had been asking me about Damian. If it were up to me, I would call him and tease him. At last, it felt like the feeling was mutual. Unfortunately, I can’t.Damian would never hear about it because until now, he was still lying in a hospital bed.My expression turned grim at the thought. Right now, Damian is still fighting for his life.Until now, he was in a comatose state.Damon shot him in the chest in front of their parents and grandfather.Grandfather Ryan had a heart attack. He did not expect that Damon would kill his brother. He kept hoping that, despite the disagreements between them, they could still mend their relationship, but because this happened, the authorities had to intervene. The Vanguard Bureau captured Damon, and there was nothing we could do about it now.The decision on Damon’s fate was no longer in our hands. Initially, Damian tried to intervene for his brother, but now that Damian was unconscious, the decision depends on the higher-ups.And even i
Jo POVThe medic arrived. Baron relinquished his hold on Gwen and allowed them to place her on a gurney to be transported in an ambulance. Before Baron got inside the ambulance, he and Senator Adams shook hands. After he boarded the ambulance, Nick and I got in as well.He was looking at his phone and then at Gwen. I was waiting for him to call anyone between the Olson brothers, but he didn’t. Instead, he kept sporting a grim expression on his face.I remember, back in the interrogation room where we found Gwen, she kept asking for Damian. I know I had no right to ask why she was asking for him instead of her ex-husband, but I did not want to pry.Not when Gwen was obviously so out of it.She looked drained, and her face was pale. She also had circles and bags under her eyes. The ambulance stopped at the nearest hospital emergency room, and we all got out after Gwen in the gurney.Doctors attended to her immediately. I think it must be due to the presence of an esteemed senator that s
Jo POVWhen I heard from Baron that Gwen had been taken to a police station, I instantly alerted Nick.Like me, he was also concerned about her and would want to know if she was alright. We immediately filed for a half-day leave to go to Gwen.“The elevator has arrived,” Nick shouted. I was still on the phone trying to contact Gwen, but it just kept ringing. No one’s answering. That made me worry so much.Nick held the elevator door so I could pass through. “Who are you calling? Was it Damon?” He asked.Until now, we hadn’t forgotten that day when Damon Olson announced in the building that Gwen was his ex-wife. Nick was not there to hear Damon verbatim, but juicy information involving our employers wouldn’t find it hard to reach him. There had been too much speculation circulating around the company about Gwen and the Olson twins. I kind of guessed that it must have been the reason Gwen was forced to move out.She could not stand being the center of gossip. In the short time that I ha
Baron POVI bent to pull Gwen carefully to help her stand up, but her knees gave way. They buckled under her weight, and she lost control of herself.I held her arms and turned my head to look for the medics to call them immediately to help us.Gwen passed out in my arms. It must have been the toll of what she had been through. My teeth gritted when I realized what Monique and her brother had put her through. There were running footsteps, and the medic was already responding to us.“Careful,” I told them when they carried Gwen to place her on the gurney. It was a good thing we came prepared. While I held her in my arms, I noticed the bags under her eyes.Despite her assurance to Damian that she would be alright, I can see from her face that she was not. She did not fare well in our absence.I wondered what Damian would say to that when he saw her.A snort came off my lips. How can he see her when he is not here?I remembered Gwen asking about him, and I decided not to answer the quest
Gwen POV“Thank you. I will miss you.” I gripped the handlebars of my suitcase and faced Lou. I also tapped my carryall bag, where I placed my passport and other important documents. You guessed it right. We were at the airport. Today is my flight to Roadster City, which houses the main office of
Damian POVI had been waiting for her to call me. By this time, I knew that she already had an idea that I pulled some strings to let her work on her dream job.I hadn’t forgotten what she told me about her dreams and wants, and right now, I wanted to make them happen.I don’t know why I do that, I
Gwen POVI woke up feeling the sun’s rays hitting my cheek. When I looked at the window, I realized it was morning. The sun’s been up for hours, judging from the intensity of the heat it was emitting.I glanced at the bedside table and gawked at the time. I’d overslept.Damian must have left for th
Gwen POVHe left me after that.I was staring off into space because he was right. Life is not fair, and because it is not fair, I am now implicated in a crime that I didn’t commit.Urgency fueled my feet as I ran to follow him. He was already out of the door when I pulled him back.“What will happe
