AMIRA

I used to brag about being the most patient person in my friend group back in the day, but now, I was contemplating whether that was even true.

I lost count of how long I have been lying in bed with my back on the sheets, my eyes staring at the ceiling while the moonlight bled into my room, illuminating the space as the noise from the night creatures surrounded me.

My fingers twitched against the bedsheet as the silence crept passed and nothing happened.

There was no vision, no power, no revelation that Astrais, who had gone silent since I jumped into bed, had promised.

I let out a loud and frustrated groan as I got tired of waiting. I threw my arm over my face and let out a sigh that represented me trying my best to keep my act together.

“Astrais?” I hissed, listening for her “You said I was going to discover out new power, but it’s been hours, and nothing has yet to happen. Did you forget or fall asleep?” I gritted out as I tried not to snap at her.

“Unlike you, I

SOREN I shot up in bed. My skin was slick with sweat despite it being cold. My breath came fast and shallow and my mind was reeling from the dream or nightmare I had just woken from. My dreams were usually the same every night but not this time. I pressed my face into the palm of my hand. My heart was still pounding in my chest and my entire body trembled with something I couldn’t pinpoint but I knew it was primal and new. “Ignis” I called for the other part of me, and he stirred beneath the surface of my mind. “I’m here” his gruff voice spoke in my head. “You felt that right?” I asked, hoping he would be able to tell what I meant. He took a long pause before he answered me. “It was a dream, Soren. Just like the others” He said but I shook my head. He was lying. He had to have felt it as well. “No,” I disagreed “It felt different. It was different. It felt like Amira was there, It didn’t feel like a dream. It was as though I was in a memory, but it wasn’t that. I don’t kn

AMIRAAstrais words brought so much pain. I struggled to gasp for air as the vivid images of what I had seen caused my chest to ache with a pain that pulsed deeper than any wound I had ever known.I hit my chest, hoping to ease the pain I felt but failing miserable. Tears streamed down my face as my other hand tightened around the blanket. The memory of Soren’s voice, the look in his eyes will forever haunt me. “I still love you.” He had said. I should have been happy. It was what I always wanted to hear. Except that when I remember the look in his eyes as he spoke those words, it wasn’t something to celebrate. Soren had spoken those words like they were something he was forced to say. The word on his tongue sounded like a confession he hated. Something he was desperately wanted to bury but couldn’t because the words were carved into his skin. Into the bond. He looked at me with anguish. Like I was something he wanted to get rid off but he couldn’t.I covered my mouth as anothe

AMIRAI gasped in horror and fright at the scene before me and stumbled back as the flame before me lashed out, almost hitting me in the face. “This is Soren’s dream?” I whispered, horrified at the sight. It was deadly, terrifying and haunting. The sky above was grey and devoid of light as a thick storm that threatened rain that wouldn’t dare to fall to quench the fire on the field that stretched endlessly in every direction. Every inch of the field was covered with fire. The flames glowed scarily, with flames flickering from the scorched earth. “Don’t be scared. The fire wouldn’t hurt you” Astrais, in her white wolf form, appeared beside me, giving me some calm and reassurance. To prove her word, fire erupted from the floor beneath me, but it didn’t burn me. It didn’t mean I didn’t feel the heat, though. “Look. Soren is in the middle,” Astrais told me softly, and I followed her gaze to the middle of the field. Soren sat in the middle of the inferno. His back was hunched, his h

AMIRA “Staring at the same spot won’t bring him back,” Astrais whispered softly. It was then that I realised that I had been standing in the same spot since Soren turned and walked away from me. The bite mark on my neck burned, and I reached out to touch it. The mark hadn’t reacted since I came back, but I guess what happened tonight was a trigger? “Do you think he would ever forgive me?” I whispered, caressing the mark softly to ease the pain I felt, “I’m not asking that we become as close as we used to be because that is almost impossible, but I don’t think I can take it if he keeps treating me this way” I confessed. My heart was hurting, and I used the other free hand to rub against my chest. I know I deserved it, but it didn’t stop it from hurting. “He will. Remember what I told you? You belong together. It may take time, but everything will go back to how it was,” Astrais replied softly. I really wanted to believe her, but the way Soren looked at me filled me with doub

AUTHOR’S POV Ivannah ran as fast as her legs would take her. Far away from Amira. The fear that engulfed her when Amira’s eyes flashed blue was the same one she felt when Soren would attack her or get angry at her. She hated it. She hated how similar they were. She hated how they felt perfect for each other. “They can only get together over my dead body” She growled, tears of frustration prickling her eyes as she ran. “I hate her” Ivannah screamed, startling some of the pack members who were close by. Once they saw the mood she was in, they all scrambled away from her but it was not from fear, they didn’t want to be bothered by her tantrums as she had heard many of them call it. “It’s all because of her” Ivannah growled as she came to a stop in front of the pack house. It was because of Amira she couldn’t be happy. Amira always wanted what she had. She took their father’s love, took the pack’s respect and love, and now she had Soren, her husband wrapped around her fingers.

AMIRAI walked away from the house as fast as my legs would carry me. I was so mad that it prompted me to only walk faster until I was along the edge of the forest, close to the path that led to Inara. I wondered if I should just go there and have her tell me what to do. She always knew everything and would be less judgmental that Ruelle would be. I shivered involuntarily as the cold air brushed my skin. It was colder than I expected. I guess winter was close. “Ami, you need to slow down before you burn yourself out” Astrais warned with a soft tone, but I ignored her and moved faster. I had no direction, just the need to move. Maybe I thought I would feel better when I was exhausted but all I knew was that I wanted to get as far from the house, my father, the confusion as much as I cold. There were so emotions clawing at me and I didn’t know how else to control them or react.“Ignoring me won’t solve anything” Astrais forced herself to the front for a minute and forced me to slow

SOREN Everything was out in the open, and my mind was a land of chaos. At least my parents had accepted her back, and she agreed to stay with my sons. I would have fought her if she decided she wanted to leave. There was no way I would have let her take them away again. Even though I wanted them to stay with me at the house, I held back against suggesting it because there was a problem I needed to deal with first before I began to war of letting my children leave with me. I said it was a war because I knew that Amira would not let it be easy for me. She wouldn’t want them to stay with me, the same way I wouldn’t want her under my roof. Not after she abandoned me. I was barely through the front door when the loud shrill of Ivannah’s voice cut through the quiet house. “So, you are going to let her stay and pretend like I don’t exist?” She screamed, storming towards me with her eyes blazing with unneeded fury. I inhaled slowly so that I could ground myself. I didn’t want to la

AMIRAI held Ezra while my Dad carried Elias as we went back home. Alistair and Leonora wanted the twins to stay over but they didn’t want to. Alistair and Leonora were still unfamiliar with them and Ezra had started crying as soon as I tried to leave so with a sympathetic smile and a promise to bring them back the next day or later, Dad and I took them home. Besides, Ezra needed to take his follow up medicine that Meridia had prepared for him. I also had to let her know she he had woken up. I smelled someone inside the house before we entered but I didn’t panic since I knew who it was. We opened the front door and Valeria sat inside, crossed leg like she still owned the place and didn’t abandoned the house to go live with Ivannah. “What are you doing here?” Dad growled “I’m not here for you, Noah. You already made it clear that you don’t see me and my daughter as family” she sneered then turned to me “I’m here for Amira” “What do you want?” I asked repeating my Dad’s question.
