Today was my birthday. I woke up feeling both excitement and anticipation as to what would happen. Would I get my wolf? Dad said it was okay if I didn’t get it today because many people didn’t get their wolf on their 18th birthday anymore since mates disappeared, but I wanted to get mine today.
The sun was already up, and it was a beautiful golden colour. I believed it would be a beautiful day for me, so I stretched and got out of bed, hoping to get the day started with a big smile.
I got out of my room and ran straight to the kitchen where Dad was placing my favourite grilled lamb on the table.
“Happy birthday, princess” Dad gave me a kiss on the forehead “I made your favourite food today” he gestured towards the table that was filled with all of my favourite meals.
