"Yes? What do you want to talk about?" I asked. I could feel my heart racing with nerves, but I did my best to mask it behind a calm and composed exterior.

"Alpha Frederick told me something so absurd that I thought it couldn't be true, and I just remember that since you've been around, I haven't learned about where you come from at all," Dante responded.

I'm not surprised since I figured Frederick must have mentioned my past to him.

"He said that you were his mate and he’s going to take you back to his pack." Dante continued.

That's when my eyes opened wide in surprise. I thought Frederick would say that I was his slave, his prisoner, or something like that, I never expected him to tell Dante that I was his mate.

I had rejected him and we no longer have a bond. The fact that we were destined mates was also useless since he would never accept me anyway.

"Is that true, Nika?"

"Of course not!" I couldn't help but raise my voice even though I was taken aback. "I'm not his mate. H-h
