FIVE MONTHS LATER
I won't aim the needle at her eyes, I won't, I won't.
But it's sure as hell hard not to send the tattoo needle deep into her fellow tattooist eyes. Doing her best to ignore the annoying woman over her shoulder she put the finishing touches to the red and bright blue butterfly her client requested. Normally, Tasha don't give a fuck about anybody's opinion or snide remake and she sure as hell don't give a shit about Dora's, who the hell name their kids Dora anyway? But Tasha was simply to tired, and don't have the tolerance to deal with Dora right now.
In all the close to six months she'd used here she has tried hard not to let the insult her fellow tattooist to bother her, they dish out insult with fake smile. Tasha had sensed the reason they gave her their patronizing smile and insult– she didn't belong. Tasha don't have multiple tattoo, and she's too thin, the only tattoo was the one in her back and she didn't think Dora's interested in looking at them.
And it is Tasha's fault that some customers want he too draw their tattoo?? Having her hanging over here shoulder's really getting irritating. Her wolf growl inside, getting irritated too. Her wolf, who doesn't like confrontation but was very quick in defending herself anyway.
If Dora knew she was an half shifter, Tasha imagine her hatred was going to be worse that this. She and her family belong to a group of human who believe in the isolation and controlling of shifters. They wanted the government to control, monitor all shifters. The matter's in court now and would be addressed five months to this time. With all that happening, Tasha had made sure no one knew that she was half shifter, no one that is but her boss and fellow half shifter– Jane. Even the local pack was not aware of there half blood, she had made sure never to be close to them to find out.
Tasha stayed out of the rader of the local pack because the Red Blood Pack's Alpha was a gang lord who dealt in all kind of drugs and weapons in the underworld. They were one nasty pack and she had no desire of "disappearing" like some of their pack members.
"How'd you like this miss?" Tasha asked her last customer for the day. She brought her equipment for cleaning and dress the newly made tattoo.
The "miss" who was maybe 21 turned to her and gave her an honest answer. "It's beautiful."
Dora made a noise at the back of her throat but Tasha was giving her any attention. Jane, her boss came over to look at it. "Wow, you sure know how to draw, girl."
Jane and Tasha had studied how to draw tattoo when they were in college, they became friends then, though they've lose contact over the years but she'd always asked her to visit her. When Tasha had called five months ago to ask if she could stay with her and she'd been very delighted. Jane had guess though after she arrived that that it was not just a casual calling, and Tasha liked that she didn't press it but Tasha had told her anyway– that she's hiding from someone.
Being the understanding friend that she was Jane hadn't press for more and wanted her new fresh life to be free of the past, not dwelling on the past, like the fact that she was rejected by the bastard of the year, Onyx. Tasha missed all her friends from home, she spoke to them on the phone but it's not the same thing, Tasha had started to feel unhappy. Not only about Onyx's rejection but about income as well, as much as she would wish otherwise her pay from the tattoo Job is not enough, and the house she rented is slowly falling apart, apparently, the landlord is good at not doing his job. And the stability and closeness that the pack provided was also missing, she missed that too but she had no intention of returning. Of ever seeing Onyx face to face again, even if he was the one that complete her soul.
Losing Onyx without even having him was hard, and it hurt her wolf too. She didn't understand why Onyx hadn't stake it's claim and she viewd it as rejection. Her wolf was angry at both of them, Onyx for not claiming her and Tasha for leaving, she wanted to be close to her mate, not knowing that Onyx had no intention of ever claiming her.
Snapping out her thought, she checked the time and then went to the reception to check out. Dora followed her, shooting her sharp daggers from her eyes. She had been trying to get a reaction out of Tasha since morning and Tasha was afraid she was going to get one, what with her wolf not in mood for this.
Tasha signed. "What do you want Dora? If you don't notice am going home and an tired because some of us actually work here."
Dora gave her a sharp look. "What? You've being here for like 1 minute and everyone's already your best friends?"
Jane appeared, saving Tasha. "That's enough Dora." Dora gave an huff, glared at her and returned back to the working room. Tasha rolled her eyes, another shift done and she had come very close to remove Dora's eyes. That girl have a problem.
The sixteen minutes work to home was uneventful, she let herself inside her the house, closed the door and hung her jacket on the rack, greatful to be off work. She kicked her shoes away with a moan of relief. She was about to go to her room when the scent hit her and it registered in the mind that she was not alone. She turned, jaw hanging open as she gaze at what she saw. A tingle of happiness hit her, making her breath catch. There, siting casually as if he belong there, with his am crossed and long legs sprawled was the very last person Tasha wanted to see – Onyx.
"Do you always leave your window open when you go out?"
She was so beautiful. It ache Onyx to look at her sometimes. Even though she was not small, she was elf like, Pettie with heart shaped face, small nose clear skin. And her freckles was begging him to trace them this his tongue. His wolf was content for now, he has been an angry beast for the five months of looking for her. His wolf felt alive than she had been with any other human. Onyx was the same.
He had finally found her.
A strong need, longing passed through him both physical and emotional, making his body come alive. "Hello, Tasha."
Tasha jumped, as his voice snapped her out of her thought. His voice was smooth and authoritative voice without appearing so. The voice, his voice make her submissive part come alive. "What are you doing here?" He looked as dangerous as always, always looking relaxed even when he's about to strike.
Onyx shrugged his powerful shoulders. "You are my mate, wherever you go I go too."
He said it like it was scientific facts, like it was that simple, the coil of lust that's slowly feeling her over shadowed her irritation. He was look at her like he would like to have her for dinner. His gaze was intense, just like the night they met, but this time determination burned there too.
Onyx looked at her eyes, blue ringed with gold, with usually twinkle with michviciouness but now filled with shock. "Do you really think I won't find you? You think I won't come for you? Don't look so surprised?"
Tasha felt a surge of hot anger at his words. What the hell was he doing here? He had no right! To find her when he had already rejected her. This is her life! She didn't need him to be shadowing her and mendleing in it! He didn't want her and he won't let anyone have her too, he'd proven as much when he scared off Royd when he thought they were dating.
And Tasha knew that even if he should mate with another woman, he'd still try to control her life. What choice does she has but to leave? He was trying to to mess up the life she'd just started building here? But her wolf didn't care about all this, now that the shock was gone her wolf wanted to run to him, touch him and allow him to claim her, to claim him too. Lovely.
"You've found me, and as you can see, I am also well. Thank you for the visit." She turned away before he had a chance to say anything she went to the table to fix herself a drink, ignoring him even when he followed her.
"I didn't come here to find you, I came here to take you home."
Tasha chuckled without humor, take me back? "An not going back to Sliver Pack, go back and do what? So you can know what I was doing always and keep scaring guys away from me." The very idea of her with some else made Onyx's blood boil, his wolf content and happy before growled at the idea. Onyx's voice was cool and dangerous when he asked. "Is there any guy, Tasha? I hope no because I really hate to kill, don't think I don't know that." The bastard, Tasha knew he meant it, she turned to face him. Noticing how his powerful presence practically dominated her small kitchen, Tasha didn't like it, it made her felt cornered, like a mouse facing a cat. Her gaze flickered to the door but Onyx that was studying her with an intense gaze moved to blocked it. Did he really think she'd run away? Well maybe he should since she was considering it. "Who I date is none of your business." He moved closer a step. "It'll always be my business – you're my business, you're min
"I came here to claim you." Tasha blinked at him. "Claim me? You've got to be fucking kidding." Before Onyx could process what she said she threw the empty glass in her hand at him, Onyx ducked but When he stood tall again, it was to see another stool coming at him. He caught that one, using it as a shield against the next stool. Then she was racing out of the room. Before she could escape from the house, Onyx dashed after her. But she didn’t open the front door. She reached behind the rack of coats in the hallway, pulled out a baseball bat, turned sharply, and swung it at his head. Motherfucker. He jumped backward, barely avoiding it. “Dammit, Tasha! Where had his sweet mate gone? Having a bad temper was one thing, but the female in front of him was a merciless psycho. Proving that, she swung the bat again—this time at his abdomen. Although he jerked away, he only managed to dull the impact of her swing. It still connected har
Oh no. When I come at you, I’ll come at you from the front.”Her sassy response made his smile widen. “That’s my girl.” Sitting on the armchair again, he watched as she struggled against the cuffs. Sighing, he dug out the key from his pocket and unlocked them. At her suspicious look, he shrugged. “I think at this point you’re as tired of all the running around as I am…although it was fun to chase and spank you.” “Had you honestly expected me to be quiet and compliant like a good little girl? I might be submissive, but I’m not a pushover.” “Oh, you’re definitely not a pushover,” he agreed. “I never, for even for even one minute, thought that you were.” She had the strength of will to match any dominant female, to match his. “You can’t ignore me for months and then expect me to welcome you with open arms.” “I didn’t ignore you—” “You didn’t even look at me, let alone speak to me or—” “Because I didn’t trust myself not to pick yo
Reaching the end of Tasha's driveway, Onyx exhaled a heavy breath. Well, things could have gone a lot worse. The bat could have knocked off his head, for instance. That merciless streak had been a shock. Maybe he should have paid more heed to her yard warning sign: TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT, SURVIVORS WILL BE SHOT AGAIN. And then there was the COME BACK WITH A WARRANT doormat. Yep, it was fair to say there had been some hints. The fact that he’d had to place his mate unconscious for his own safety was something he’d never forget. Both Onyx and his wolf loved that spark of fire in her. Despite being a submissive wolf, she hadn’t hesitated in challenging him verbally or physically. That was a good thing—it was important to him that his mate never feared him or his level of dominance. It would cut him open if that were to ever happen. As he walked a short distance and rounded the street to find his motor home, which had been his place of residen
She was going to be late for work again. Groan. On the upside, it was the earliest that she’d ever been late. In pretty much a daze after a crappy night’s sleep, Tasha left the house and began walking briskly down her driveway. And came to an abrupt halt at the sight of something parked at the end of it. It looked like a humungous bus. Coming close, she tried to peer through the blackened windows, but they were too high up. Seeing movement in her peripheral vision, she swerved to see a Mercedes convertible pulling up behind the bus. Then the bane of her existence was waltzing toward her, carrying Starbucks takeout. Again he looked dangerous and indomitable. Again he emanated an unflappable confidence. Again he had her traitorous body heating and tingling, readying itself for him—so not good. She scowled. “You’re still here?” At his presence and scent, her wolf stirred and stretched out inside her, her dark mood lifting. Onyx
"No, I chose to put your safety above everything else. It didn’t change the fact that the only person I wanted was you.” If that was true, he was going to be seriously pissed off by her answer, and then she’d be stuck in a car with a raging, too-damn-dominant alpha male wolf. That was never a good situation, and her wolf wasn’t looking forward to it. When he raised a questioning brow at her, she averted her gaze as she admitted, “I dated a couple of times.” She braced herself for an explosion. There wasn’t one. Risking a glance at him, she saw him looking calm and cool. Only his white-knuckled grip on the steering wheel betrayed his inner turmoil. “Why aren’t you yelling?” “How can I?” His words were like crushed rock. “All you were doing was trying to get on with your life.” And now she felt bad. She shouldn’t. She knew that. If he’d yelled at her, she could have rightly pointed out that if he hadn’t wanted her to date anyone else, he s
He got his wish. Onyx had just finished buttoning his fly when four dominant male wolves entered the restroom. Not intimidated by their scowls or aggressive postures, he ignored them, went to the sink, and washed his hands. As he dried them, they formed a semicircle around him, blocking him in. Turning, he looked at them all curiously…like they were bugs. They didn’t like that. The one in the middle stepped forward slightly, tilting his bald head. “Who are you?” “You guys are confronting me. I’ll ask the questions. What do you want?” That seemed to have knocked his confidence a little. Good. Stupid shit was dominant, but he wasn’t an alpha, and yet here he was practically challenging one, endangering himself and his packmates. He should know better. He should have been taught better. “Our Alpha would like to speak to you.” “Really?” drawled Onyx. “And why is that?” “You’re on our turf.” He clench
You seemed a little distracted today,” Jane told Tasha as they were slipping on their coats at the end of a long shift. “And you look real tired.” She gave her a sardonic smile. “Such a polite way of telling me I look like shit.” “Come on, tell me what’s wrong. You’re supposed to confide in me and make me feel important and special.” When she didn’t, she hit her in the chest with her own purse. “Spill.” Hanging the purse over her shoulder, she frowned at her. “Hey, I don’t harass you about your private business. If I was going to do that, I’d say shame on you for flirting outrageously with another one of your clients.” “I wasn’t flirting. I was being particularly nice to a particularly hot.” “Uh-huh. Just try not to sleep with this one, okay?” Her mouth fell open. He followed behind her, spluttering, as she headed for the door. “I did not have sex with him.” “No, of course not.…He ha
