Alina’s POV

The next morning, I was seated in my father’s chambers, while he paced around the room. He had summoned me earlier but I was too nervous to go see him.

Back at the high priestess’ house, he almost walked away because he thought I had gone back to loving Zach again.

I almost cried at the high priestess’ house, because I couldn’t bear to see that my father wouldn’t want to trust even a single word from my mouth.

I tried to explain several times that we had only met by accident. I wouldn’t even want to have a conversation with Zach. But the fact that Roy had gone missing that evening got me curious.

“Why didn’t you tell me Zach came around?” He asked, his voice calm but cold. “You shouldn’t go near him for any reason.”

“I tried staying away from him but he wouldn’t stop coming, he wants to see his son,” I responded almost immediately.

“I hope he doesn’t come here searching for you,” he muttered. “
