CHAPTER-2 Slade?

The ground was a blur of claws and fangs, wolves clashing fiercely with vampires under the pale moonlight. Growls, snarls, and the crack of bones filled the air. 

Alpha Zenith Beckham, stood back in his mighty glory, observing the chaos. "Pathetic bloodsucker!” He let out, voice calm yet tight. "They’ve forgotten who they’re up against."

Ruth, his wolf, scratched his mind. “Let’s join!” 

"Easy, boy," Zenith whispered, though his body was already thrumming with pent-up energy. Leonardo, his beta, was leading the pack, holding the line for an hour now, but Zenith knew tactics wouldn’t be enough. They needed something more. They needed fear. 

They dared to invade his territory and create havoc in his presence. Foolish Fucktards! 

Zenith inhaled deeply, then let out a deafening growl that echoed like thunder through the trees. Every head snapped toward him, and the atmosphere suddenly changed. 

He moved towards them with his massive intimidated body, his lethal aura suffocating the air as he emerged from the shadows, his forest green eyes burning with intent, freezing the vampires on the spot. 

Zenith stepped forward, his gaze locked on the nearest vampires. They faltered, fear palpable in the air. Perfect! 

He wanted them terrified and broken. Then, He would tear them apart. 

“Leo, leave them to me,” Zenith growled, his voice laced with arrogance.

"Fall back," He commanded through the mind link, and all his wolves obeyed instantly. Leonardo gave a nod, as he signaled for the others to stand down. He knew their Alpha had finally shown his interest in joining. 

Zenith with a savage leap, slammed the nearest vampire into the tree hard before he grabbed another. They were quick, but not quick enough as Zenith’s reflexes whose moves were more swift and faster than them. 

The last one foolishly lingered against him and Zenith pounced, pinning him to the ground. His eyes bulged, gasping for breath under his weight.

“Who sent you?” Zenith snarled, his voice like ice. Even though he knew who sent them but the real question was why they were sent to attack his pack. 

The vampire writhed, terror clear in his eyes. Zenith smirked and raised his hand with his long sharp claws and pierced the vampire’s chest, gripping his heart tightly in his fist. “Now now, would you like to bark!” 

The vampire's breath hitched in his throat as he let out a wail. 

“We… we were sent to find…someone.” He breathed out, trembling in Zenith’s hold.

Leonardo stepped closer, his gaze sharp. “Who?”

The vampire hesitated again. Zenith dug his claws deeper, drawing a scream out of him. “WHO?” His tone held Alpha's deep command that scared the Vampire boy who let out the truth. 

“S-Slade! We were looking for a wolf named Slade!”

Slade? Zenith’s left eye twitched, He exchanged a glance with Leonardo. It was the second time they heard this name but nobody knew who it was. The name meant nothing, but Ruth bristled. There was something off here.

“Why?” He leaned in, voice low and dangerous.

“I don’t know! We were just ordered to find it!” the vampire whimpered, panic in his voice. “That’s…all they told us!”

Zenith growled and was about to pluck his heart out when the vampire’s terror spiked. “Wait! Please.. I swear, I don’t know anything else. Just a name… just Slade! Please leave me!”

Frustration boiled inside Zenith. Killing him wouldn’t give him answers, not yet. He pulled back, his claws retracting. “Run,” He said coldly. “Tell your master that if he wants Slade, he will have to see me.”

The vampire didn't need to be told twice as he bolted, vanishing into the night. 

Leonardo moved to his side. He knew why his Alpha let the last vampire escape. They needed to find out why these vampires were attacking the packs and finding this unknown creature Slade. 

“Slade? Any idea who it might be?” 

Zenith shook his head, still staring into the darkness. “No. But we’ll find out.” 

“Vampires are hellbent on finding this Slade for the last few months, Zenith. They have been attacking all the packs in the Northern territory and today it was ours. But the fools don't know who we are.” Leonardo chuckled as they went back into the pack house. 

“I'm curious who their master is. Do you think he is the original last vampire about whom the rumours never stop?” Leonardo asked. 

Zenith nodded. “It can be!” 

“And he dared to send his bloodsuckers to meet their deadly fate in the Thunderfang pack, the one of the strongest packs in the whole territory!” Leonardo shook his head as their wolves walked into their respective houses, leaving few who cleaned the mess in the forest. 

Zenith stopped on his track and looked over at his beta cum best friend. “Then it must be someone important the Vampire king is searching for, Leo. Someone precious!” He mused. 

Leonardo frowned as to why this vampire king was hunting this creature, sacrificing his vampires in the process. Who the hell is Slade? 

“Tell Hunter to put more men to patrol the border from all sides. I want heavy security.” Zenith instructed his beta before heading towards the packhouse and directly raced towards his wing to his room. He took a hot shower to clean the ugly blood off his body. 

His thoughts revolved around this mysterious Slade and Ruth showed his interest in this creature. He wanted Zenith to find it because somehow Zenith felt intrigued by this Slade too. 

Is it some wolf or…

His reverie broke down by his phone’s ringtone. He walked towards the table and grabbed his phone to see his father calling. Zenith let out a tiring sigh and accepted the call. 

“Did you check how many times I have called you, Zenith? I understand how busy you are but family is important too!” his father, Ex Alpha Giovanni Beckham said from the other side. 

“What is it, Father!” Zenith asked ignoring his father’s words and Giovanni sighed knowing his son very well. 

“I called to remind you to visit the Darkmoon pack tomorrow to attend the Christmas party. We talked about it last week, you remember. Alpha Arthur had invited us respectfully and I want you to go there. They proposed the marriage alliance of their son with our Raya and I want you to see how capable his son Alex is for our daughter. And also try to get to know their daughter Keroline too. They are also looking for a suitable match for her. We are coming next week from the trip and I expect to hear your feedback by then.” 

“And I don't want to hear you won't go there, Zenith. As an Alpha it's your duty to socialize yourself with other Alphas and our communities.” Giovanni declared before Zenith could deny it and cut the call. 

Zenith stared at his reflection in the mirror and smirked. So his parents were indirectly trying to convince him to choose some random chosen mate huh. 

Again! 

Knowing very well how he hates mates. 

Did they forget what happened last time when they chose someone for him?
