Kael’s POV

I yanked my jeans up as I stood, the sheets still a mess around my legs. The girl on the bed sighed like she thought it would be enough to pull me back down. She started yapping about something and I blocked out her voice as usual, we have been here for barely an hour so only God knows what she found already to complain about. Some call her my girlfriend but she's just another girl in a long line who think they can get to the Alpha by opening her legs.

Misha sat up, holding the sheet up, her blonde hair all over her face. “Kael, are you even listening”.

I put on my shirt, fixed the collar, and looked at her in the mirror. “I’m not”.

I gave her a stare, daring her to complain. Her jaw dropped, she looked offended, hurt. I saw the anger in her eyes. For a second, my wolf was up, wanting her to do exactly that, which would give me the perfect reason to break things off. She has gotten too clingy for a while now and that was a problem.

She looked like she wanted to hit me, but she didn't. She wouldn't dare, not when I'm Kael Darius Blackthorn, next in line for the biggest, richest, scariest pack around. People know not to test me. So she just shrunk back, biting her lip, looking all sad.

I almost laughed but instead, I put on my watch, grabbed my jacket and gave her one last look. Her long leg were out of the sheets looking so inviting and for a moment I consider going back to the bed. One thing about her was she sure knows how to please me in bed. I walked out of the female dorms like I owned the place…….because, yeah, I kind of do. People stared as I walked by, surprised and curious, but no one would say anything. No one wants to be the idiot who snitches on the future Alpha.

The cold morning air hit me as I walked out, and I breathed it in like it was freedom.

“Kael!”

I turned around and saw my boys waiting by my black SUV. Dante saw me first, grinning.

“Well, look who finally came out from under his girlfriend”

“Girlfriend?” Jaxon laughed, running a hand through his hair, his eyes full of mischief. “Please. He doesn't do girlfriends. He does… activities”. He winked at me. They both started laughing, loud and wild. I walked over to them.

“Shut up”, I said, but I was amused.

Dante raised an eyebrow. “So, did you even talk to her this time, or did you just…..” he made a pumping motion with his hips, biting his lips.

I gave him a look that could kill. He put his hands up, still laughing. “Alright, alright, but come on, Kael, when are you going to start taking her seriously”.

“Seriously? She's already too clingy”, I said. “I will have to let her go soon, clingy is trouble”

Jaxon whistled. “You mean before she starts calling herself Luna Blackthorn”.

They laughed even harder, hitting the hood of the SUV. I growled at them, it wasn’t funny. They knew she would never be my Luna. I just needed her for the pleasure she can give. I couldn’t afford to have multiplies girls for now knowing what is at stake, me being the heir and all.

We got into the SUV, Dante driving, Jaxon in the passenger seat. I got in the back, laying on the seats like I belonged there because I do. The future Alpha doesn't drive himself. The engine started, smooth like a cat and we drove out. The windows were down, and the morning air rushed in.

Jaxon leaned out the window, whistling at a group of witches. “Looking good, ladies! Put a spell on me anytime!”

The girls giggled, but they didn't look mad. Witches like attention, especially from wolves with status. Dante was just as bad, smiling at a couple of vampires.

“Hey mi amor, you can bite me whenever you want. I like that”.

The vampires just stared, saying stuff under their breath. Dante and Jaxon laughed, I shook my head. They're idiots, yeah, but they're my idiots. Strong, loyal, and deadly when they need to be, just the kind of wolves I want as my Beta and Gamma when I take over. The SUV slowed down as we passed the admission building, and then I smelled it.

That scent, sweet, strong, addictive. Like honey in the sun with something darker, like a forest after rain. My wolf, Ghost went wild his claws digging into me. I breathed it in, closing my eyes. Jesus. What was that? I was drooling. Whatever the cafeteria cooked today must be something worth finding out. I never eat in the cafeteria, ever.

“Damn”, I said.

“What?” Jaxon asked, turning to look at me.

“Do you smell that?” I asked, out of breath. They smelled the air and shrugged.

“Cafeteria?” Dante guessed.

“Maybe they're cooking something, but… do they even cook on the first day?”

I shook my head. “I don't know but whatever they are dishing in there smells amazing!”

Ghost growled, wanting whatever it was so bad. I clenched my fists trying to keep him calm. Relax Ghost, Later. We will come back later.

We drove on, the smell fading but I was still restless. The SUV pulled into the residential area, and I sat up. This wasn't just the dorms, this was where the big shots lived. Every building just screamed power and elegance. The future leaders of packs, covens, and clans. Some of them are like, royalty and I fit right in.

Jaxon drove to our private garage and parked. As soon as we parked, something felt off and then I smelled him.

Vampire.

Not just any vampire but Adrian Veylor. He was leaning against the fence, looking all smug. His hair was slicked back, his smile annoying. I growled, my wolf ready to attack, I hated the bastard and his people. I saw flashes of my mom, her blood on the ground, her body torn open. I still hear her screams some nights. His family was to blame, they killed my mother.

“What the hell are you doing here?” I snapped, walking toward him, my fists clenched.

Adrian smiled wider. “Whoa” he raised his hands in surrender moving backward.

“Relax wolf boy, I’m just being neighborly. I wanted to invite you and your little group to my party tonight. It's tradition, you know. First party of every semester year.

He didn't come closer, which was smart. He knew not to mess with me.

“Take your tradition and shove it”, I growled.

“Still touchy, I see” he said. “Was hoping by now we can let bygones be bygones, no?”

I growled showing my teeth, Ghost hit through my defenses trying to break free. Not yet, even though I would love to rip the throat of the son of a bitch but my hands are tied.

“Alright then, see you around, Kael”. He walked off, hands in his pockets, whistling.

I stood there, shaking. It took everything I had not to rip him apart. Dante put a hand on my shoulder, snapping me out of it.

“Let it go, man. Not today”.

“Not today”, Jaxon said.

I breathed out, pushing the anger away. “How dare he come here, acting like we are friends?

“Soon”, Dante said. “When you finish the semester year and you're the Alpha, we'll deal with him…..all of them”. He said looking in the direction Adrian went.

I nodded. Ghost was still angry, we will get him soon and take our revenge, don’t you worry. He whimpered. We went inside our house, it is a modern building, fit for kings. It was empty except for a small worried omega, how old is he? 15/16…..uhhhhh who cares. The school sends about two to three omegas to our residence every year to serve us. I rarely make use of them and they stay out of my way the way I like it.

I needed to run. Ghost was going crazy, ready to tear everything apart because of Adrian. I took off my clothes, my muscles tight, and let the change happen. Bones cracking, fur growing, paws running across the ground as I ran through the woods.

Kael’s pov The cafeteria smells wrong. It's not that the food is bad, it's actually really fancy, like always. Shiny silver trays, all polished, with steam coming off roasted meats. Thick sauces simmer in crystal bowls, and the bread is warm enough to make the glass lids all foggy. Fruits are cut perfectly, and the desserts look too pretty to eat. It all screams money as it should be, the school gets paid enough money for its upkeep. My wolf should be happy, and I should be hungry. Instead, I just feel annoyed. None of it smells like the food I caught a whiff of earlier. That smell stuck with me all day, rich and warm. It wasn't just food, but comfort, home, something I didn't know I wanted until I smelled it. Now, looking at this buffet, I know it's not here. Whatever they cooked earlier was gone. Ghost growled in disappointment….. yeah, me too buddy. “Changed your mind?” Jaxon, my Gamma walks up. He loads his plate like it's his last meal. “Or are you going to keep looking at the

Aria’s pov The line inches forward. I’m shaking from nervousness, my palms are sweaty, and I keep rubbing them on my skirt like that will stop me from shaking. I could feel my heart pounding against my chest. The boy in front of me finally moves, and suddenly it’s my turn at the admissions desk. The room is huge, like a cave. The windows are super tall, letting in sunlight that makes the old stone walls look golden. It smells like polish, old books, and something else… something sharp, almost like magic. I can feel it buzzing under my skin, a tingle in my arms. Behind the desk is a woman who looks like she was made out of the building. She has silver hair in a very tight bun that looks almost painful, thin glasses on her nose, and lips pressed into a line that says she won't stand for any funny business. Her name tag reads: Ms. Evelyn Morrison – Registrar. She looks up at me slowly, her eyes cold and sizing me up. It’s the kind of stare that sees right through you. I almost trip w

The morning I left for Evermoor Academy was colder than I thought it would be, even though the calendar said it was still summer. My packed bag sat by the door, reminding me this wasn’t a nightmare I could just wake up from. Every time I saw it, my stomach flipped. The bag was too small for what I was feeling. Just some shirts, jeans, shoes, notebooks, pens, and the necklace Dad gave me for my seventeenth birthday, that’s all. It didn’t seem like much, but it felt like I was carrying my whole life. I made pancakes anyway because it felt wrong to leave without giving Dad something warm before the day fell apart. Dad was already at the table when I walked in, holding his coffee mug with both hands. He hadn’t taken a drink. His eyes looked far away, sad in a way that made my chest hurt. “Morning,” I said quietly, putting the plate in front of him. He blinked, like he’d forgotten where he was. “You didn’t have to do this, Aria.” “I know.” I sat down across from him, resting my chin o

“Leave her”. The voice was scratchy, like rocks grinding on metal. “She's just a child”. “She has their blood”. The other guy hissed, sounding cold. His boots crunched on the ground. “We can't let anyone live. You know the rules, finish the job. I didn't get it then. I was too young to even talk right but I knew that voice. It was scary. The night smelled like burning wood. Even then, I knew what fear was. I squeezed under the car, shaking, and put my hands on the oily ground. It was quiet except for the men walking around. My parents were behind them in the grass, they weren’t moving. I tried to do what my pa told me to do in times like this. _Hide Aria and don’t make a sound_. I tried to make him proud, he would come get me soon. “Don't be a wimp”, the cold voice snapped. A knife came out reflecting the moon. “She dies too”. “She can barely walk”, the other guy mumbled. He bent down, his shadow going under the car. “Look at her, she doesn't even know what's going on. I didn't s
