I had thought today was going to be my happiest day. And from the way I gasped, you would have thought I ran all the way home.

I walked in to meet the elders seated in the room. Their presence was a strange sight, but I barely noticed them in my excitement.

I should have known something was wrong, but my joy blinded me.

“You’re pregnant,” the doctor had said earlier, and those words were everything. I was an omega, so being pregnant was a miracle.

But when I rushed in to share the news with my mate, the Alpha of Lilac Valley, the air turned cold and rage boiled in me.

I wanted to scream; my mouth was open, but no sound escaped my lips.

“No.” That was the only word I could mutter.

“Aiden?” I whimpered in a trembling voice as he stopped moaning and turned to stare at me. His eyes held no remorse but rage as he pulled out of the lady beneath him.

“What are you doing here, Lia?” he shouted, his voice laced with venom.

“I told you, you couldn’t show up here unless I sent for you. If you had just listened, you wouldn’t have seen this.” He hissed, not bothering to hide his erection as he wore his underpants.

I whimpered at the sight before me.

I had always believed a child would brew our relationship, but I didn’t even have the chance to share the news with him.

My gaze went to the lady on the bed, and a gasp escaped my lips when I had a closer look at her. Tania, my twin.

“Tania?” I whispered, still rooted to the spot. I was too shocked to move.

My sister had been bedridden, up till I went for my appointment. I couldn't understand what was going on.

The excitement from the news disappeared.

How could they do this when the preparation for my Luna’s Coronation was ongoing?

My body was consumed with anger at the immoral sight before me, and soon, I felt bile rise in my throat.

I barely made it to the toilet as the contents of my stomach came rushing up.

“Leave now. He doesn’t love us. Save your face and walk out,” Xena ordered, but I couldn’t and remained at the spot. I could feel my wolf’s anger, but I couldn’t leave. I had always fought for Aiden’s love, and I believed I would get it someday. He was mine.

My eyes fell on the scars from where Aiden had cut to feed Tania because we shared the same blood and since she was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia, she always craved blood which was strange to me. Werewolves don't take blood, but nobody viewed it from my point, but rather I was seen as an enemy.

Tania had always been pampered. She was my parents’ treasure, while I was a curse.

My mum believed that all the second daughters in our family were bad news. I was continually compared to her late younger sister.

I was still thinking about everything when my Mate announced.

“Tania is pregnant with my child.” That announcement broke my thought flow.

“What?” I muttered, but the question I should have asked was How? She had been bedridden, so how was she pregnant? There was a loud bang in my head as I spoke.

“Tania is my sister, you’re my mate. How could you do this? At least, respect the moon bond between us,” I demanded, but a force hit me, and I fell to my knees.

Immediately, it dawned on me that I had crossed the line, no one dared raise their voice at the Alpha; the pack’s system was quick to detect when the Alpha was threatened.

I crawled on the floor, in pain.

Some of the elders rushed in due to the commotion and just immediately, Tania burst into tears, moving the attention of the elders towards her.

“I can't be with her, never. I will have to break the bond.” Aiden, my mate muttered, while he consoled Tania.

“Tomorrow, you will be crowned my Luna in her stead.”

“Send the letters, there is a change now.” I was dumbfounded.

I lay on the floor helpless. Tania had won again.

Eight months ago, when Aiden realised I was his mate, she was overwhelmed with pain and had fallen, losing consciousness.

I was accused of pushing her, and now she suddenly wakes up, claiming to be pregnant and being intimate with him.

Everything felt like a hoax, and it dawned on me, this was an act to blackmail me.

All my life, I have been blamed for her misfortunes.

I had let my guard down again.

I should have noticed Aiden sneaking out of the room to hers every night, but how could I imagine him being intimate with her since the doctor claimed she was inactive.

For eight months, It was mandated that I give two liters of my blood every week to Tania after her accident, with the hope and promise of getting married to my mate.

I did everything he asked me to do. I was a toy he controlled; but he had only used me to revive her.

“Sister, aren’t you happy for me?” a sharp tiny voice asked. My hands went into a fist. How could she? She was back to her manipulative self. Her tiny voice made heads turn. She was special. How dare she ask such a question?

Tania had always known Aiden was mine, even before I knew we were mates. But she went ahead to befriend him and lock him around her little fingers.

Aiden accepted me because the law in Lilac Valley was clear, mates must be joined, no matter who they were. It was sacred.

But standing here and watching him fight the bond, I realized laws meant nothing to a heart that didn’t want you.

Still, the Moon Goddess had chosen me for him. Whether he liked it or not, destiny had tied us together, and neither of us could escape.

“Aiden, can I speak with you for a moment?” I disliked how my voice sounded, like I was pleading.

“It should be AIDEN!!!, I want to speak with you in this instance. You don't act like a maid in your story.” My wolf, Xena, interrupted with much authority. But before I could react, Tania responded.

“I will leave if I’m interrupting.” There was a pause and she continued.

“Aiden, don’t be too harsh on my sister. She looks really pale.” My wolf roared, badly wanting to take control. We both knew what Tania was trying to do.

I waited for her to leave the bed, but she hesitated.

“Lia, you are nothing but evil. All Tania wants is your good, and you know she is the one I love, yet you keep forcing yourself on me.”

“Aiden, without me, you can’t live,” I yelled, this time not able to control the tears.

“I’d take my leave now,” Tania said, getting up this time, and Aiden immediately ran to her.

“No, kitty, you are not interrupting, and you’re not leaving. If anyone is leaving, it is her.” He kissed her softly as he spoke.

My wolf roared at the name. That name had been ours. Growing up, Aiden and I had been inseparable, but after his accident, everything changed.

I couldn’t bear it anymore, and I spoke. “I am pregnant, and you are the father. Take responsibility and stop this right now.” The room fell silent for a while.

“It can’t be my baby,” he blurted with a scoff after a moment of silence while he tossed the pregnancy results on the floor.

The system once again noticed the tension and brought me to my knees.

The thought of the Alpha rejecting his seed, sent chills down my spine. How could he say that? He was the only man I had been with all my life.

“I can’t get you pregnant unless you have my mark, and I haven’t marked you, Aurelia.” I could feel the world coming to an end. If he hadn’t marked me, then who did?

I was already marked, the only night he had been intimate with me, a night I wouldn't forget in a hurry.

But he stood his ground that he hadn't marked me, then who did? Who was responsible for the child in me?

“Tania alone has my mark, and she is carrying my child.” The silence was heavy.

“You should know by now I never loved you. I have never seen anyone as stupid as you. I knew you were evil and wouldn’t save your sister, so the only way to make you do it was to promise to marry your desperate ass. It’s so low-brow to think I would settle for a pathetic omega like you with no wolf,” he cursed.

The angrier he got, the more the system released more pressure. I was on the floor in pain.

And Xena wasn’t helping as she growled within me, the only solution was to put an invisible block between us, stopping her from transforming, that alone made me powerless.

My wolf was hidden; no one apart from my grandparents knew I had a wolf, and they had advised that it was best I left her hidden; otherwise, I would be in danger. Though I couldn't understand them, I had to listen, and my wolf Xena was hidden.

“Aiden, you're hurting the baby.”

“I’m your mate, you’re the only man I have been with. Don't do th..”

“One more word from you, and you're dead.” He threatened and I knew better than to keep talking.

“A Luna of this pack, sleeping around with men, and not knowing who is responsible for the child.”

“I reject you and cut all ties.”

Just like that. The elders who stepped out, walked in and nodded in agreement.

My dad's face lit up as I crawled on the floor in agony.

Aiden didn't bother holding a proper rejection ceremony for me, knowing the repercussions. I was automatically less than a servant.

No man would ever be with me.

“I’m giving you today to get rid of that thing in you or lose your life,” he added, and with that, the system released me.

“Leave now.” Without saying a word, I got up. But Tania’s voice stopped me.

“Aiden, I'm weak…”

She didn't say much again because he had already grabbed a knife and pulled me toward her.

I tried to break free, but he slapped me before cutting my skin.

Tears left my eyes as Tania sank her teeth into my flesh, desperately sucking my blood.

“That’s enough,” I begged after she had fed for ten minutes as I struggled to break free from her grip.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were hurting,” she lied, staring at me as Aiden patted her hair.

“Good job girl.”

I wanted to lash out, to make them feel even a fraction of the pain tearing me apart, but I couldn’t. They had the upper hand, and as an omega, I couldn’t do anything. It would take two hours before I could heal, so I lay on the floor, trying to catch my breath.

“Leave and get rid of that child in you.” Aiden said, his voice was already getting distant.

I was weak and slipping in and out of consciousness.

“I think we should call the doctor.” Tania said this time, her voice genuine but I knew it was all an act.

If anything happens to me, it would be difficult to find a blood that matches ours for her, since we had a very rare blood type. Blood Grey.

My wolf urged and begged me to leave now. I don't want to be used by them again, but I didn't have the will power to do that.

Soon, the doctor arrived and without a word, I was lifted onto a stretcher.

As Aiden's final words rang in my ears, ordering the doctor to get rid of my child.

My pleading eyes met those of the doctors and for some reason, I felt at ease. His blended green and brown eyes made me know there was more to him than being a doctor.

“Who are you?”

But he didn't respond, neither did he take his eyes off mine.

I desperately looked at him, and then he muttered.

“Mate.”
