Chapter 4

Nessa’s POV

Matthew stood tall, staring intensely at me. He did not understand why a sudden, explosive anger consumed him the moment he saw me wearing such a revealing outfit.

"I-I'm sorry, Sir... This was the uniform given to me," I explained with a trembling voice. I forced myself to lift the tray to cover my chest as much as I could.

He did not answer me. Instead, he coldly turned his gaze to one of his bodyguards.

"Call the event manager up here. Right now."

The man by his side moved quickly. After a few minutes of me standing there like a statue, the manager arrived running. He was a heavy-set man who was completely drenched in sweat. He was clearly terrified of the billionaire's presence.

I stared in shock. This was not the manager I had spoken to earlier. Why was it someone else? I swallowed hard.

"M-Mr. Arizmendi! Is there a problem with the service, boss?" the manager asked, stuttering and bowing his head.

Matthew glared at him. His voice cut through the air like ice, "Who gave you permission to let waitresses wear this kind of garbage in my establishment?"

The manager looked at me, and his face instantly changed. Instead of admitting the truth, he immediately shook his head to clear his own name.

"I-I don't know, Mr. Arizmendi! That woman is the only one dressed like that! All the waitresses we hired from the province are wearing decent and formal uniforms."

My eyes widened in absolute shock. I could not believe what I was hearing.

"It looks like she changed her clothes to get attention from the VIP guests!"

I froze to the spot because of what he said, "Hey! That is not true! The manager was the one who handed me the bag with—"

"Quiet!" the manager shouted, cutting me off. "There is no other manager! It is just me!"

I turned to Matthew, almost crying from fear and the intense injustice, "Sir, please believe me. I did nothing wrong. I would never do this—"

Before I could even finish my sentence, Matthew snapped his fingers.

In an instant, before I could even take a step back, two of his giant bodyguards suddenly grabbed me by both arms. I dropped the tray. The champagne bottles shattered completely on the floor.

"Let go of me! You are hurting me!" I cried, struggling with all my might. Their strength was not human. It felt like being held by two stone walls.

"Sir, please! I am telling the truth! I am just working for my family!"

His face remained completely blank as he watched me struggle against his men. My tears did not move him at all. All he wanted was to get me out of the public eye before he completely lost control over the unexplainable fury burning in his chest.

"Take her to the basement," Matthew ordered coldly, already turning his back toward the VIP lounge. "I will handle her interrogation myself later."

I wanted to scream for help, but I knew no one would help me in this place. This was his territory. It felt like I had entered a lion's den, and I was just a helpless mouse.

"Please have mercy on me!" I said, crying, but they seemed deaf. As they dragged me toward a lift, an elevator suddenly chimed. I did not know which one it was.

The elevator doors opened. Everyone stopped, including the bodyguards holding me. Even Matthew slowly turned around. That specific elevator had the highest security clearance in the entire hotel. No one was allowed to use it except the owner.

From inside the elevator, a small creature slowly stepped out.

My eyes widened, and I completely forgot to breathe. Walking onto the luxurious carpet of the hallway was Zarek—now a large, golden puppy. He was furious. The fur on his back was raised, and he kept growling like an angry dog while staring straight at the bodyguards holding me. I knew that one wrong move, and he would attack.

CHAPTER 27 Nessa’s POV I was still kneeling on the cold lobby floor while Zarek’s warm hands held tightly onto my trembling shoulders. I was trying to catch my breath now that Lady Vanya’s deadly presence was gone, but before I could completely calm myself, an incredibly loud and deafening sound suddenly shattered the silence throughout the entire hotel. The massive glass facade and the automatic double doors at the entrance of the Grand Arizmendi Plaza Hotel exploded into millions of pieces of glass at the same time. The shockwave from the explosion was so powerful that I immediately wrapped my arms around Zarek and covered his body with mine to protect him from the sharp pieces of glass flying through the air. The Delta-tier guards who had been standing beside the pillars immediately dropped to their knees and lowered their heads to the floor. It was a miracle that none of us were hit by the glass. In an instant, a huge w

CHAPTER 26Nessa’s POVEvery word Lady Vanya said felt like a death sentence, proving that I truly had no place in this world. A Luna chosen by the Moon Goddess. I wondered how I could fight someone who was said to have been personally chosen by their goddess. I felt completely overwhelmed by the strength of her brown aura, and my hands on the counter were starting to weaken. My defenses were fading. How could I fight someone like her? I was only human, and every time they said that Zarek did not belong in their world, I felt small. We never forced ourselves into this place. We only wanted to live peacefully, but if they were going to kill my son when he could not even defend himself, I would not allow it."Your silence is highly appropriate, human," Lady Vanya said again, her smile growing wider as she watched my pale face. "A fragile creature like you should learn to bow when destiny enters the room. Bow to the true Luna! Now!""She will not bow to you because she was my father’s ch

CHAPTER 25 Nessa’s POV I woke up at six in the morning. I did not know if it was because I was nervous about my first day at work or because I was still carrying the weight of everything I had learned last night about what Zarek’s life would be like. I was grateful that Matthew had comforted me. He really had a kindness that was not easy to see from his appearance. At first glance, he looked like a handsome man who had gathered all the arrogance in the world. He seemed cold and uninterested in beautiful women, but he was not like that at all. He was kind, and there was something different about the way he drew me toward him. I was beginning to trust everything he told me. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I thought I looked decent. The maroon blazer and cream blouse suited me well. It was the official uniform for the receptionists at the Grand Arizmendi Plaza Hotel. I only felt a little uncomfortable with the skirt because it reached halfway up my thighs. Matthew might kick me

CHAPTER 24Nessa’s POVThe moment we entered the mansion after the grand assembly, I immediately took Mama to her room. I felt as though I could finally breathe again after facing hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of wolves staring at me in the courtyard. Mama sat on the edge of the bed, quiet but with deep understanding in her eyes as she looked at me.“Nessa, my daughter,” Mama began, her voice soft but full of warmth as she held my trembling hands. “I know you are not telling me the whole truth about this place or about Matthew. I saw everything outside... there were so many people, and the way they looked at you was strange. It was as if a huge responsibility had been placed on your shoulders earlier.”I lowered my head, unable to look directly at Mama because I was afraid she would see the overwhelming worry in my eyes. I was afraid I would betray myself. “Mama, I’m sorry. Everything is just so confusing right now. Matthew made me his Luna, supposedly for Zarek’s safety from the

CHAPTER 23Zarek’s POVThe holographic display of the Manhattan defense sectors projected a pale blue glow across the strategy table. I studied the data, counting exactly forty-eight primary patrol squads currently moving along the northern boundary lines. The failure rate of the perimeter grid had dropped to zero percent since Papa eliminated the abnormality in the mainframe room.“The tactical deployment is solid, Zarek,” Klien said, his fingers hovering over the glass tablet. “But you are still leaving the eastern river corridor out of your primary calculations. If the Council launches an airborne attack, they will use the low-level thermal currents over the water to bypass our radar cones.”“Thank you,” I replied calmly. “I will redirect Beta Squad to cover the river delta immediately.”My memory instantly pulled up the structural layout of the Lycan Council’s standard tactical gunships. I calculated the exact route they would likely take if they returned with a formal confiscatio

CHAPTER 22 Nessa's POV The silence that covered the entire house after the council left was even more unsettling than the loud security system sirens earlier. I was sitting on the edge of Zarek's bed, tightly holding his large, warm hand until my knuckles turned white. The red emergency lights had already returned to their normal brightness, but the shadows in every corner of the room still seemed to warn me of danger. I could not understand what was happening. Couldn't Zarek just be human and be mine? No one would deny him as a human, unlike this. But I knew it was not that simple. Purity Orders. Hybrid. Abomination. The words the old man had spoken kept echoing in my mind like a horror movie. Garrow had looked at my son as if he were not even a human being. To him, Zarek was nothing more than a mistake in their system that needed to be erased. "Mom," Zarek's serious voice broke the silence. He was already wrapped in a thick blanket, staring at me with his large, dark eyes. My s
