CHAPTER 9

Nessa’s POV

I woke up lying on something soft. Slowly, I opened my eyes. As my vision cleared, I realized I wasn’t lying on the cold ground or on the woven mat inside our tiny hut. I was lying on a huge bed covered with white sheets. It was so soft that it felt like I was floating on clouds.

“Mama…” a soft, familiar voice called from beside me.

Panic immediately washed over me, and I quickly sat up. Beside me sat Zarek. He had returned to the form of a five-year-old boy, but he

CHAPTER 5.2 Matthew’s POV I take the plate from Nessa’s hands, my fingers deliberately brushing against hers for a fraction of a second. The sparks are instantaneous, a jolt of pure electrical current that shoots straight up my arm and settles deep in my chest. She flinches slightly, pulling her hand back with a cold expression, but I can hear the sudden, chaotic skip of her heartbeat. She is here. She is in my room, making sure I am fed, making sure I am taking my medicine like I am some fragile, helpless human boy. “Look at her, Matthew! Just look at our beautiful, angry mate!” Match is practically howling with joy inside my head, rolling around in my subconscious like a lunatic. “She baked for us! She brought us sweets! She pretends she is cold, but she is hovering over us like a protective woman guarding her recovering Alpha. This pampering… oh, I could get used to being poisoned if it means she treats us like this every single day!” I sit there, completely frozen, slowly chew

  • Abandoned by the Alpha King   Chapter 5.1

CHAPTER 5.1 Nessa’s POV The sunlight streamed through the enormous glass windows of the luxurious kitchen in the mansion, but it did nothing to lessen the strange heaviness in my chest. Even though every corner of this place was filled with luxury, my heart remained tied to the simple life we had left behind in our tiny apartment. To distract myself from the overwhelming worry and give myself something to do, I decided to bake. The scent of vanilla, melting butter, and freshly baked cake slowly filled the cool expanse of the kitchen. This was how I calmed myself, something familiar in the middle of a world that seemed to be slowly consuming us. I had just pulled a tray of cupcakes from the oven when I heard the heavy, synchronized footsteps of two people coming down the hallway. I was already putting icing on the cupcakes and was almost finished when I turned around and saw Zarek walking with Klien. Klien had already returned from his escape because he did not want to be seen in a

CHAPTER 5Nessa’s POVFor a while, we hurriedly packed everything. The remaining members of the High Court Council were waiting downstairs, guarding the perimeter while we prepared to leave the place we could no longer afford to stay in.Inside my room, as I looked at the last suitcase containing the old and simple clothes that belonged to Zarek and me, I felt my mother gently place a hand on my shoulder. I turned toward her, feeling the weight and exhaustion in my eyes.“Nessa, my child,” Mama said gently. “I know you are hurt. I know your heart is overflowing with anger and fear because of what Matthew did before and what happened again just recently, but remember that he erased his own memories just so the enemies would not be able to track you down. He did everything for you and your son, even if it meant it could cost him his life.”“Mama, it is not that easy to forget everything. I do not want to completely fall in love with someone who is not like me. It will hurt me even more

  • Abandoned by the Alpha King   Chapter 4

Chapter 4Nessa’s POVThe rain outside seemed to be finally stopping, but the strange atmosphere left inside our small living room remained. After the shocking and terrifying sight of the High Court Council strike team kneeling before my son and the resurrected king, Elder Garrow escorted them out of our building. Their departure was silent, swift, and filled with intense fear and respect. The elite warriors who had arrived to kill us left like dogs with their tails between their legs, carrying orders to prepare the palace for the return of the true ruler. When their auras finally disappeared from the area around our neighborhood, the mysterious golden light surrounding Matthew and Zarek slowly faded. In the blink of an eye, the three enormous wolves in our living room began shifting back into their human forms. I heard the series of cracking bones and muscles, but the greatest miracle was Matthew because it was as if nothing had ever happened to him. He was incredibly handsome. The s

  • Abandoned by the Alpha King   Chapter 3.1

Chapter 3.1 Back to Reality Nessa’s POV “Matthew!” The scream tears through the veil of my memories. My eyes snap open. The illusion of the past shatters, and the cold, harsh reality of the small apartment slams into my senses. The royal blood of my son is rushing through my veins, reacting violently with the remnants of the silver poison. But it is no longer destroying me. The hybrid blood, the perfect blend of my Alpha core and Nessa’s pure essence, is rewriting my biology. Match is not dying. He is evolving. A sudden, blinding golden light erupts from my chest, illuminating the cramped bedroom. The black veins on my skin instantly turn into glowing rivers of pure gold. I feel my bones cracking and reshaping at an impossible speed. I am shifting. I remember everything. “Finally! Your 3,067-year-old memory served you right just in time! Time for a show, Matthew! Where is the red carpet?!” Match roars inside my mind, his voice like deafening thunder. With a massive explosi

  • Abandoned by the Alpha King   Chapter 3

Chapter 3Matthew’s POVThe pain is absolute, tearing through my veins like liquid fire. As my physical body convulses on the bed, my fading consciousness sinks into a deep, dark abyss. The suffocating gray walls of the present dissolve, and suddenly, the freezing rain of the city turns into the humid, heavy air of a forest from six years ago.I am pulled back. Back to the nightmare. Back to the truth.“You are finished, Your Majesty,” a voice sneers in the dark.I remember the clash of claws, the snarling of wolves, and the bitter taste of betrayal. It was a rogue ambush, well-coordinated and vicious. But it was not the rogues who brought me down. It was him. My former beta. My right-hand man. The one wolf I trusted above all others to guard my back.“Why?” I growl, my claws dripping with rogue blood as I stand among the bodies in the clearing. My breathing is shallow.“Because a king who softens has no place ruling us. We do not want mercy! You punished the wolf who killed that old
