Three days of calmness and re-strategizing is what Harold had. However, it was not the case with his sworn enemies; the werewolves. They were in mourning. They had lost many in the last battle. Though most of the vampires were slain by Michael, they did a number on the wolves. 

The strategy of silver guns was what the wolves did not foresee. As much as they were well prepared or rather believed that they were, guns were not expected. The wolves still needed a solution to the silver guns issue. In case Harold decides to arm himself with the guns. 

Harold also lost his own army of mutants. he was equally hurt but still hopeful. As the conniving and sniveling wizard he is, he set to work again. Before escaping from the burning science research facility, Harold had secured all the samples. It was his most priced possession. Therefore, he could not leave it behind.
