Ruby's questions had got me concerned, but I honestly did not have much to say. Everything I knew about my pack and my parent's death was told to me by my mother's friend, Liam, who was now like an uncle to me. I was only four years old when it all happened. I spent the best part of my life being cared for by omega's of lesser packs under Liam's protection. Liam moved me to the complex a few months before I got my wolf to keep me hidden, and I had remained hidden since then.

I had a lot of painful memories that I did not want to revisit. As vague as the memory of my four-year-old self was, I remembered my uncle beat my mother frequently because she refused to breed with him. He swore he would kill me twice, and that was all I could remember. One thing I knew was that my mother's life became hell when my father lost the death challenge. I swore never to be involved with a pack or anybody when I grew up, and I had kept that promise until I met Ruby.
