Chapter 6

MY STRANGE BOSS

His date, why? I said as I groaned sitting on my chair. He's a well-known man and I know by tomorrow I'll be all over the internet, people would want to know if I'm just his secretary, they'll make up stories.

I got back to work trying as much as possible not to think about the event I'll be attending with my boss later in the evening.

It was time for the first meeting of the day, which was with The Collins, so I took my bag and went to my boss's office. I knocked on the door and heard his deep voice telling me to come in. Against my will, my body tingled at his voice remembering the dirty things he whispered to me last night when he was inside me.

I cleared my throat, straightening the nonexistent wrinkle on my skirt and then I opened the door.

" Sir, it's time," I said as soon as I got in, he just nodded his head still busy with what he was doing.

If we didn't start going we were going to keep them waiting, my boss was an important man but one thing I've learned is never to keep a client waiting especially if the transaction is to your benefit.

" Sir," I tried to remind him again but I was surprised by his reaction.

" Did I tell you I'm deaf or something why can't you fucking get the hint that I'm busy," he angrily said to me and I couldn't help but recoil.

" I'm sorry Sir," I said as I just stood there waiting for him to finish whatever he was doing so we could get going.

When he was finally done he stood up taking his briefcase with him and I went to take it but he raised his hand stopping me.

Have I done something wrong?

Since I knew I would be driving with him, I didn't bother driving to work.

But to my utmost surprise Mr. Leonard, my wonderful boss, just got into his black car and the driver kicked off and to say I was shocked was an understatement, for a good one minute I just stood there looking at the spot where his car was before like a cold water was poured on me I kicked back into action.

My boss was behaving funny, that didn't matter, what mattered was I had to be in that meeting with him and we were already late.

I took my phone and tried to book a taxi but there was none available, just my luck.

When I finally got one we got stuck in traffic. If today isn't a wonderful day what could I possibly call it?

After spending fifteen minutes in traffic I was finally dropped at the location, in front of the Collins entreprise. I quickly paid for the taxi driver as I started running as fast as my heels would let me.

The security stopped me at the entrance so I just showed them my ID card and they let me in.

The receptionist gave me the direction of where the meeting room was and I got into the elevator wishing it could be any faster.

When I finally got to the front of the meeting room, I adjusted my hair which was hanging everywhere because of all the running I did to get to this place.

I opened the door and stepped in and all eyes turned to me. I felt like a dear caught in the headlights, but I refused to show anything I was feeling inside, that is one of the skills a secretary should possess, confidence.

" Miss Fredrick, any excuse why you are just joining us?" My boss asked like he didn't just abandon me in front of the company.

" I'm sorry Sir, that would be a waste of time we should just get back to the meeting," I told him as I took a seat beside him, calming my aching legs and nerves.

I could feel the questioning look of the other secretaries, they must think this happens all the time and I wasn't a good secretary like them but I didn't care.

The meeting continued and at the end, they had to reschedule the meeting because My boss didn't agree with their offer, told them to speak to him when they had something better, and then the meeting concluded as everyone started to leave the room one by one.

I went to pick up my boss's briefcase and thankfully he didn't stop me. We had a meeting with Mr. Kim in about thirty minutes, and I didn't know if I would be going with him to the lunch meeting.

When we got outside the Collins enterprise, I opened my boss's car and put his briefcase inside, then I stood aside for him to enter.

He got into the car and I was about to close it but his words stopped me.

" What do you think you're doing Miss Frederick?" He asked me as he raised his brows at me.

" I'm going back to the office Sir, I don't think I need to follow you for your lunch with Mr Kim,"

" What makes you think my secretary wouldn't be coming with me to a business lunch, don't you know your job or should I get someone else?" He asked sounding like he was mocking me. What was wrong with this man?

" I'm sorry Sir, I'll come with you," I said as I tried to close the door and he stopped me again.

" Where are you going?" I might soon go to prison for killing my boss.

" To get a taxi, Sir,"

" And why's that?" At his question, I looked at him as if saying like you didn't leave me behind when we were supposed to come here together.

" Get in the car," He said, I looked at him hoping I had heard him well. He sent me a glare and whatever confirmation I needed was forgotten as I entered the car and the driver drove off.

I was surprised to see my boss speaking Korean, I just stood there staring at both of them like a fool while they just talked and laughed. Mr Kim was nice enough to talk to me in the little English he understood.

Like telling my boss he had a beautiful secretary and my boss replied in Korea not giving me a hint of what he said.

I followed behind Mr. Kim and my boss as they both kept discussing until Mr Kim got to his car and they gave each other a goodbye handshake and said something and I guessed it was a see you next time.

Mr Kim waved at me before he entered his car and drove off.

We got into the car and then the driver drove us out of the restaurant, but I noticed that he wasn't taking the direction that led to the office.

" Sir, where are we going?" I asked my boss as I turned to look at him.

" If you remember, I have an event to attend and I need a new suit and…" he stopped to look at me,..." You need a dress," After that, I didn't say a word.

We got to an exquisite boutique and I couldn't help but gawk at how big the place was. There was one thought in my mind, never to let my best friend see this mall, or else we'd spend all our life savings shopping.

My boss just sat down while racks and racks of suits were brought in front of him, and then I saw another rack being brought and this one contained dresses.

My boss picked a black suit and white shirt and a very nice tie, everything was just perfect, he had good taste.

He suddenly turned to me and I was confused.

" Aren't you going to pick a dress?"

" I have a dress at home, Sir, I'll just get it, you don't need to buy me a dress."

" Don't get any ideas in your head, I'm not getting you a dress as a gift, you're representing the company and you have to look nothing but the best, and besides there's no time for you to go home, so go try the dresses so we can go back to the office, we've got things to do before the event,"

I scanned through the rack and picked four dresses to try on.

I wore the first one which was a black dress and came to show my boss and he asked me to change saying we weren't going for a burial.

I changed to the second one he shook his head telling me I looked like a granny, it was annoying and then the third one which was a white off-shoulder dress, he told me to change saying I looked like a bride forced to get married.

I was already getting tired and grudgingly I put on the last dress which was a red long dress that hugged my body perfectly, it had no sleeve and my boobs were pushed up making the dress seductive, it has a slit that went up my leg up to my hips and it flowed behind me, it was a beautiful dress but I had a feeling my boss would tell me it was too provocative.

Just to try my luck again, I opened the door and stepped out and immediately I wish I hadn't.

The look my boss had in his eyes wasn't anything professional, he looked like he wanted to devour me for the rest of his life.
