Juliet’s heart slammed against her ribs as the tall stranger stood up. Up close, his sheer physical presence was downright terrifying. He towered over her, broad shoulders blocking out the fluorescent lighting of the dreary civil registry office.

God, he's intimidating, she thought, her pulse spiking. And he smells like... dark sandalwood.

A sudden, strange flutter stirred deep in her stomach—a ghost of a memory, warm and heavy—but she forced it down instantly. She didn't have time for weird sensory glitches. The clock on the wall read 4:47 PM.

"You're actually agreeing?" Juliet asked, narrowing her eyes suspicious. "No arguments? No calling security?"

"You presented a logical transaction, Miss Sparks," Roman said, his voice a deep, velvety baritone that vibrated straight down her spine. He took the purple flamingo pen from her hand, his warm fingers brushing against hers.

Juliet involuntarily flinched at the brief contact, an electric shock shooting up her arm. She rubbed her wrist, staring at him. Why does his touch feel so strangely familiar?

"Let's get this over with," Roman added smoothly, uncapping the pen. "Before your fifteen minutes expire."

They stepped up to the wooden counter where a tired clerk in half-moon spectacles looked up at them with profound disinterest.

"Names?" the clerk droned, tapping an ink pad.

"Juliet Sparks," she said clearly.

"Roman Bloom," he replied, signing his sweeping, elegant signature across the official state marriage registry document with her ridiculous flamingo pen.

Juliet signed her name right beneath his, her hands shaking slightly as the purple ink dried on the thick paper. She waited for the sky to fall, for Karen to burst through the glass doors, or for Adam to crawl out of the woodwork. But nothing happened.

The clerk slammed a heavy red stamp onto the center of the document. APPROVED.

"Congratulations," the clerk rasped, handing them two printed gold-embossed certificates. "You are legally husband and wife under state law. Next in line."

Juliet stood there in a daze, holding the piece of paper that saved her mother's studio. She was married. She had actually done it. She was officially a wife.

They walked out of the registry office together, stepping into the cool late-afternoon air of the city plaza. Juliet turned to face her brand-new husband, clutching her purse tight against her stomach.

"Okay," she began, adopting her most professional, business-like tone. "First of all, thank you. You genuinely just saved my life. Second, we need to set ground rules for this contract marriage."

Roman leaned back against the stone pillar of the courthouse, crossing his arms over his broad chest. The fabric of his suit strained against his biceps, and Juliet had to forcefully drag her eyes back up to his sharp face.

"I'm listening," Roman said softly, a glint of dark amusement in his eyes.

"Rule number one: This is strictly a legal arrangement to satisfy my inheritance clause and whatever social problem you're dealing with," Juliet stated, counting on her fingers. "Rule number two: We live separate lives. No sharing rooms, no romantic expectations. Rule number three: In twelve months, we file for an uncontested divorce, clean and quiet."

Roman raised a single, dark eyebrow. "No sharing rooms? My, my. You're very strict, Miss Sparks. Or should I say... Mrs. Bloom?"

Juliet felt a sudden, fierce heat creep up her neck at the sound of her new name on his lips. "Don't call me that out loud unless we're in front of people who need to believe it."

She looked him up and down, taking in the bespoke suit, the polished shoes, and the expensive watch gleaming on his wrist.

"So," Juliet said, tapping her chin. "What do you actually do for a living, Roman? You're wearing a ridiculously nice suit, but you were sitting on a registry bench looking like you just lost your job."

Roman stared down at her, his expression entirely unreadable.

In reality, he was the primary shareholder and Chief Executive Officer of Bloom Enterprises, controlling real estate conglomerates, shipping lanes, and luxury subsidiaries across three continents. His personal net worth was estimated at roughly forty-two billion dollars.

"I work for Bloom Enterprises," Roman said smoothly, blending the truth with a masterclass in deception.

Juliet gasped slightly, her eyes widening. "Bloom Enterprises?! The massive corporate empire downtown?!"

"The very same," Roman replied smoothly.

"Oh, wow," Juliet murmured, her mind racing. "That explains the suit! Do they make you wear that for work? Are you... like, a high-level executive assistant? Or an executive chauffeur driver?"

Roman blinked once. A driver?

He thought back to the six hundred dollars sitting in his trousers pocket. First an escort, now a corporate driver. This woman truly possessed a remarkable imagination.

"Something like that," Roman said softly, his lips twitching with suppressed laughter. "I drive... very important people to very important places. And I handle executive tasks."

"I knew it!" Juliet said, clapping her hands together, a look of genuine sympathy softening her feature. "Corporate assistants and drivers have it so rough! They make you guys dress like millionaires just to represent the company, but they probably pay you peanuts and work you to the bone!"

Roman opened his mouth to speak, but Juliet cut him off with an earnest, protective wave of her hand.

"Look, Roman, you don't have to pretend with me," she said, her voice warm and fiercely sincere. "I know how brutal those corporate elite can be. My ex-fiancé's family runs a middle-tier logistics firm, and they treated their staff like dirt. If you're working for the big CEO—what's his name? The scary one who never shows his face on TV?"

"Roman Bloom," Roman offered helpfully.

"Right! That guy!" Juliet scoffed, shaking her head. "I heard he's an absolute tyrant. Cold, heartless, probably kicks puppies in his spare time. You must be under so much stress working for a monster like that!"

Roman stared at his new wife, utterly fascinated by the fiery conviction in her hazel eyes. "A monster, you say?"

"Totally," she agreed firmly. "So here's the deal: since we're married now, we're a team. I'm going to reclaim my mother's design studio tonight, get our contract work going, and make sure we both survive this year. If you ever need help with rent or buying new ties for your driver job, just tell me. I pay my debts."

She reached into her bag, pulled out a business card for Sparks Design Studio, and shoved it into his hand.

"Here's my studio address. I have to go confront my stepmother's lawyers before the 5:00 PM filing deadline. Where are you staying?"

"I... have an apartment nearby," Roman said, carefully hiding the fact that he owned the entire top three floors of the luxury high-rise towering right behind them.

"Great. Text me your address later, and we'll figure out how to handle the living arrangements so it looks convincing for the legal auditors," Juliet said, turning on her heel.

She took three steps, then paused and looked back over her shoulder. The afternoon wind caught her dark hair, blowing a few soft strands across her face.

"And Roman?" she called out, a soft, genuinely beautiful smile breaking across her lips. "Thanks again. You really saved me today."

With that, she sprinted down the courthouse steps, her heels clicking rapidly against the pavement as she hailed a passing yellow taxi.

Roman stood alone on the plaza steps, holding her small, colorful business card in his hand. He watched her taxi merge into the thick afternoon traffic until it disappeared around the corner.

Slowly, he reached into his inner jacket pocket. He pulled out the wireless earpiece, unmuted it, and placed it back into his ear.

Instantly, Mark's panicked voice exploded through the line: "SIR! IT IS 4:55 PM! THE BOARD MEETING IS STARTING IN FIVE MINUTES! WHERE ARE YOU?!"

Roman looked down at his signed marriage certificate, then at the bright purple flamingo pen resting in his palm.

"Mark," Roman said, his voice dropping into the cold, authoritative, and terrifying tone that made international boardrooms tremble. "Prepare the board room. Tell my uncle and the directors that I am on my way."

"Did... did you secure a bride, sir?!" Mark stuttered, breathless.

"I am legally married," Roman replied smoothly, walking toward his blacked-out luxury Maybach parked at the curb, where his actual personal driver held the door open with a deep bow. "And Mark?"

"Yes, Mr. Bloom?!"

"Issue an immediate corporate mandate to all subsidiary divisions," Roman instructed, stepping into the back of the luxury vehicle. "Bloom Enterprises is acquiring a minor stake in a local business called Sparks Design Studio. And if anyone named Karen or Adam attempts to interfere with that studio..."

Roman paused, letting a dark, lethal smile grace his lips as he looked out the tinted window.

"...destroy them."

The rear delivery door swung lazily on its hinges, the shattered brass lock hanging uselessly from the splintered wood frame like a broken jaw. A cold draft swept through the cutting floor, fluttering loose swatches of silk and sending a chill down Juliet’s spine that had nothing to do with the August weather. She stood in the middle of her back office, staring into the open, empty vault of the floor safe beneath her drafting desk. Her hands were shaking so violently she couldn't keep her fingers still. The velvet lining inside the iron safe was pristine, completely bare save for a thin layer of dust where her mother’s leather-bound master portfolio had rested only hours ago. Every s

While the rest of the fashion district slept, a quiet, desperate shadow crept along the rear brick facade of the building.Karen Sparks shivered beneath her oversized black trench coat, her designer heels squelching against the wet asphalt. Her eyes were bloodshot, her manicured nails bitten down to the quick. The past seventy-two hours had been an unmitigated disaster. With Miller Logistics facing a twenty-million-dollar lawsuit from Bloom Enterprises, Adam had completely spiraled, leaving Karen without a high-society fiance, without access to his corporate credit cards, and worse, completely cut off from the Sparks family trust."That little bitch," Karen spat under her breath, pulling a heavy brass crowbar from inside her leather tote bag. "She thinks she won. She

  • Accidentally Married to CEO Bloom   The Cheap Tie & The Collar Fix

The morning light streaming through the floor-to-ceiling glass of the penthouse was unforgiving. It caught every line, every detail, and in this particular instance, it caught the severe lack of professional neckwear on the man standing by the direct-access elevator.Juliet stood near the kitchen island, a mug of steaming black coffee held between her palms, watching Roman prepare for his supposed shift at Bloom Enterprises. He was wearing a clean, crisp white dress shirt—one he had brought in his understated leather duffel bag—paired with dark, immaculate trousers. The shirt fit him like a second skin, stretching taut across his broad chest, the top two buttons undone to reveal the strong column of his throat and the faintest hint of golden-bronze skin beneath. His long sleeves were rolled up past his elbows, exposing corded forearms laced with dark, prominent veins.

  • Accidentally Married to CEO Bloom   The Luxury Penthouse Adjustment
