"where are we going?" I asked Jake as he entered the car while I fastened my seatbelt. 

"What do you want to eat?" He asked me as he started the car and then glanced at me waiting for my answer. 

"I do not know." I shrugged. "Burger?" It came out more of a question.

After a moment of comfortable silence with the radio playing in the background, "should you not be at work?" I asked and he glanced at me. 

I did not want him to take my tone as a rude one so I explained further, "you know, helping with my family and stuffs. You should have left your work behind." I paused. "What if your boss tells you to leave?" I asked.

"Yes, your boss." I replied pointedly.
