Chapter 42

"Alright, send me the documents right away; I need everything; do your job right this time, Kheed."

I was awakened by a cold and familiar voice. When I turned to see where it came from, I saw the familiar wrinkled forehead of my boyfriend, who was sitting on the sofa and talking on the phone.

When he noticed me, he immediately put down the phone he was holding and approached me. "How are you?"

There was no hint of anger, but I couldn't catch the concern in his tone either. I looked up at his face, thinking that this was better than him constantly reprimanding me. "I'm fine," I smiled.

"Are you sure?" he asked again. "Or do you need more time to recover?"

This abrupt shift caught me off guard. We seemed to have an argument just the other night. How did it suddenly alter its attitude toward me? Is there anything I missed last night? Did I do something right?
