CHAPTER 5

"Then should I just kill her?" this question completely baffled the two young men.

"What? Are you insane?" Lucas exclaimed in disbelief. "We vowed not to harm innocent people on this mission, that includes killing one, Luther."

"Didn't you think there might be a family waiting for her? How could you say such things?" Kheed's tone was surprisingly resentful.

"Then what do you think is good?"

"There must be something we could do, but let's help her first and clean up this mess you made," Lucas replied, shaking his head and looking at the woman next to him.

"Is she still breathing?" Kheed inquired, recalling a bitter incident because of the girl's condition.

"She is, but if we don't get there in ten minutes, she might die," Lucas replied.

" Oh shit!" Kheed exclaimed as he drove the car as fast as he could to the private rest house owned by Lucas's family.

They quickly brought her inside and saw a swarm of people wearing surgical gowns waiting for them. "Oh my god, what happened to her? And who is she?" exclaimed the doctor who had been assigned by Lucas to care for the girl.

"I'll explain later, but please save her," Lucas said, which the doctor and nurses did. They rush to care for the girl brought by the young boss.

"What happened? Is she still alive?" Kheed, who had just entered, inquired.

"She's still breathing, but I'm not sure what will happen next, the doctors are doing their job, let's just hope for the best," Lucas replied, looking around. "Where's Luther?"

"He left to avoid the possible exposure of his secret," Kheed replied, shaking his head. "Running away from his shambles."

"No, he did the right thing; it's better that no one sees him here so we can come up with an excuse for what happened without tarnishing his name."

"What are we going to do? Do you have any suggestions?" Kheed asked. Lucas then held up a card containing the girl's identity.

——

"What the fvck? She's gorgeous!" Kheed exclaimed as he examined the girl's identification card. "Are you sure she's a student? She looks more like an actress!"

"Her name is Samantha Lee Vasque, and she is a fourth-year musical student at RiverStone University." Luke's introduction, who has already memorized the card's content.

"She's fvcking beautiful, bro. Why didn't we see her in the contest? If only I had seen her, she'd probably have won that title," Kheed responded, still staring at the woman's photo.

"That's what's strange; she's a student from that school and we haven't even seen her," Lucas responded, "but there are two possible answers: one, she's a fraud, and two, she must be just uninterested in that contest."

"Well, she doesn't look like a fraud to me; she looks like my future wife," Kheed said, smiling like a creep.

"We don't know her yet."

" But, we can get to know her, right?"

Lucas no longer argued with his friend, knowing his personality, he never keeps his mouth shut, especially when it comes to women. "In any case, I'd like you to gather more information about her so that we can come up with a solution."

"Everything?"

"Yes, including her social status; we need to confirm whether she is an elite."

"Isn't it obvious that she's a student there?"

"She might not be, and we need to be cautious; just do what I said."

"Roger," Kheed replied, shaking his head as he returned the girl's identification card before obeying his friend's command.

Lucas was left waiting outside the room where the girl was taken care of. He took out his phone and dialed the number of the person who had caused the problem.

"Where are you?"

(Keeping an eye on Lopez) Luther responded.

Lucas let out a weak cuss, "Sorry, I forgot about the mission, I forgot we were in the middle of an operation." He apologizes.

(How's the lady?)

"She's still unconscious," he said, sighing, "but the doctors are already doing their best to treat her; we don't know if she'll make it."

There was no answer on the other end of the line. Lucas knew that his friend didn't want this to happen either; it was just that this mission is his top priority because there are so many things at stake. "How is the mission going?"

(Don't worry about it.)

"Are they suspicious of us?"

(No, they're clueless, but I'm not sure about that clan. )

His friend responded, referring to the enigmatic mafia clan. The Asano. The most powerful mafia family and the highest ranking position in X Organization.

This is their first encounter with that clan in their operation, so they have no idea what was going through their heads right now. They don't know if they suspected any of them or if they wanted to retaliate against the people who were in their path, which was them.

(But, I suppose this is a good time to begin introducing ourselves.)

On the other end of the line, Luther stated that Lucas does not need to see to know that his friend is smirking because the group they were discussing is none other than the reason why they entered the world of the mafia.

The clan he has been keeping an eye on not only because of their wealth and power but because they are the clan who murdered his parents.

They are the reason why he has to experience nightmares every night.

Luther clenched his fist hard enough to crush the phone in his hand.

After puffing the last smoke, he quickly throws the cigarettes and gives the scene one last look, where Lopez's men are eagerly looking for the culprit behind the stolen goods.

------

"She is indeed a RiverStone University student," Lucas said as he examined the papers containing the information Kheed had gathered about the woman who had been run over.

"I told you, she doesn't look like a fraud to me," Kheed replied as he sat down after handing another folder to the young CEO who carefully reads the text and makes no audible comments.

"Her name is Samantha Lee Vasque, and she's an eighteen-year-old business administration student at RiverStone University, just like her ID says. She lives with her mother and one younger brother, and her father died two years ago." Luther came to a halt, thinking that the said year was so familiar to him. "And she does not come from a wealthy family; she is poor enough that she must work while studying."

"How did she get into RiverStone then?"

"Scholarship. She's poor, but she's brilliant," Kheed replied, smiling proudly, "Beauty and brain... Ah, just like my type."

Lucas nodded and looked at the paper, thinking they could buy the girl's silence. Her family is poor, the type of people who are easily bought with money. "Is there anything else?"

"There's nothing special about her; she's just like any other student, except she's poor," Kheed replied with a shake of his head.

"Then I think we'll be able to get through this," Lucas said. "We don't have to worry about colliding with large people, and no one will pursue us."

"She saw my face," Luther said abruptly, drawing the attention of two men. "Are you serious?"

"I'm not sure if she did, but she opened her eyes once and looked at me before she passed out," Luther explained after setting down the folder he was holding. "In that case, we need to silence her," Lucas nodded.

"You're going to kill her?" Kheed exclaimed, surprised. " No! What I mean is to buy her silence! She's poor, so it's simple for us to do it."

Kheed was relieved to hear that. "Looks like I have a different meaning of silence in my head, whew! She's stunning, and it's such a shame if that happens"

"We vowed not to hurt anyone on this mission, and I'm not going to stain my hands for him," Lucas said, pointing to the young man who was deep in thought about the situation.

" You're right. I won't either," Kheed agreed, "But how's beauty? Has she regained consciousness?"

"Not yet. No word from the doctors," Lucas replied with a sigh.

"Don't you think we should contact her family?" Kheed asked, taking an apple from Luther's table and tossing it in the air as he played with it.

"Not until we get good news from the doctor."

"I'm sure her family is concerned and is looking for her."

"Then should we tell them she's unconscious with no guarantee she'll live?" Lucas wondered. "They'll be more concerned knowing her life is between life and death."

"Then what are we going to do with her family? Got a clue?" Lucas was thinking about how they could justify the girl's sudden disappearance when he received a call from the hospital. "Let me take this," the young man said as he walked out of the office.

"If you only saw her face, boss. Ugh! She's a goddess!" Kheed sat in front of the young man who didn't seem to care. "Damn! Even in the midst of our operation, women are dying to get into you! You're the best!"

"Do you want to see her face?" Kheed persists in questioning the young man. Luther looked at it bored and said, "I'm not interested," before quickly opening his laptop and getting to work.

"Are you sure? You're missing out on a lot," Kheed asked but the young man brushed it aside. "It's probably better if you don't see her face, you might change your mind. "

Kheed tilted his head still thinking, "I really don't know how someone like you, with such a bad attitude, got lucky enough to collide with a goddess. Does the Lord now have favoritism?"

"That's something you don't have, he gets goddesses while you get flirts," Lucas teased after taking a seat next to him. "At least I'm not a mafia boss who has to obey his grandmother,"

Luther came to a halt and glared at his friend, "Shut up."

The two tried not to laugh as they remembered how he was forced to attend a competition. "Anyway, the hospital called, and the girl had gone into a coma."
