Chapter 9

"Oh my god! Doc! She's awake!" A woman's voice resonated throughout the room, ultimately causing my eyelids to open and reveal an array of white. Am I dead? Is this the afterlife?

"It's a miracle," says another voice.

"Call the young master and inform him that she has awakened,"

 "Finally, you're awake."

More voices I heard nearby. Is heaven really this loud?

Still feeling the pain, I tried to turn around and saw women in white pacing the room, hurrying their every move. I looked around and noticed the structure's contents. The room is white and wooden. It doesn't have that design, but if you look around the room, it's clear that money has been spent. From the cabinet to the sofa to the paintings on the wall. There is also a large mirror near my bed that I believe is worth a thousand dollars. I'm sure this place is only for the wealthy. But...

What am I doing? What exactly am I doing here? I'm not familiar with this location... Could it just be one of my fantasies?

I closed my eyes and opened them again, but nothing had changed. I repeated it several times, but the location remained unchanged.

Where am I if this isn't a dream? Why don't I recognize this location?

"I'm glad you're awake now!"

I heard a woman's voice. I turned to face the source of the voice and saw a mid-aged lady who I also didn't recognize. "There are so many people who are waiting for you to wake up."

"W-who are you?" I managed to speak despite my difficulty. "I'm your doctor, hija," she said with a smile.

"W-why? W-why do I-i need a doctor? A-am I s-sick?" I stammered; it was still difficult for me to speak, and I can feel the pain between my jaws.

"You had an accident, hija, and you are very brave, you fought death," she replied again, smiling. What it says perplexes me. "W-what e-exactly do you m-mean? A-accident?"

"It's natural for you to be perplexed by what I'm saying; you've also been unconscious for two months."

What? I was unconscious for that long? Why though?

"W-where am I? W-what happened to a-me? W-why am I h-here? W-what accident?" I inquired, my face baffled.

"You are here in a private setting to be treated; you were hit by a car and sustained injuries as a result, which is also why it's hard for you to speak."

But no matter what she said, I remained perplexed. I can't remember anything, I'm not even sure what happened," I-I can't r-remember..."

The lady's smile disappeared, "Don't you remember the accident you were in, hija?" Confused, I tried to recall what she was saying, but no answer came from my brain. I shook my head. "How about your name? Can you tell me your name?" she asked again.

I was about to open my mouth and answer her question when I stopped,

"Why hija?"

I looked at her with tears forming in my eyes, "I-I don't know..."

"You don't remember your name?" I nodded, despite the fact that moving my head was difficult. The lady did likewise.

I'm not sure if she understood, but she nodded bidding her goodbye as she went to the women in white. I was left in the room, my mind befuddled by her questions.

I can't remember what she said by accident, and what's even more perplexing is how I can't remember my own name.

I looked around for answers when I noticed the bandage wrapped around my arm and the thick white cloth on my right leg. By having an accident, it appears that the lady was telling me the truth, but how come I don't remember it? Why am I clueless about my own identity?

I took another look around and noticed the large mirror on the side again.

Perhaps if I saw my own face, I'd remember who I was.

I forced myself to stand, but all I could manage was to sit on the bed's edge. It hurts, and I can't stand the pain that has taken over my body. I was in this position when I heard the door open loudly. Someone appears to have entered. I slowly turned around to see three attractive men.

They were all blessed with handsome faces, but it was the man who came in last that drew my attention. His eyes, which could melt me away with his gaze, captivated me in addition to his muscular and attractive face. But my admiration turned to fear when he began to speak, "Tell me what you see,"

My whole body felt cold. I didn't think his attractive face could frighten me. I'm not sure what I did to cause him to be angry. What did I do wrong? Why does he seem so upset with me? Even the young man with him, who had been smiling at me, was frightening to me. I was afraid of what they wanted from me.

Fortunately, the woman who identified herself as my doctor was able to get the men to leave.

My tears began to fall and I don't know why. Maybe because of the confusion I'm getting. I'm not sure what I did wrong... I'm not sure what he means; how can I respond if I'm not sure what he's asking?

What caused this to happen to me? Why don't I understand what they mean? Why had I forgotten my own name? What happened to me?

The woman in white forced me to lie down crookedly before injecting me in the arm without telling me what it was. My tears were falling as I tried to recall what the frightening young man had asked.

After a while, I noticed my eyes becoming heavy, and I couldn't stop them. But before I could close my eyes, I saw the creepy young man's face through the window, looking at me with anger in his eyes. What did I do?

------

"Are you sure about that, bro? You know I can take your place, just like we used to do on the mission," Kheed asked his friend as he sat on the sofa at one of Lucas' private rooms.

"No, I'm going to do it myself," Luther stated sternly as he lit a cigarette.

"Why do you have to go that far just to keep her close? Don't tell me, have you fallen?" Lucas inquired, cleaning his glasses next to Kheed. "I'm not."

"Then why do you pretend and waste your time with that girl? She doesn't remember anything!"

"That's right, when things need to be done, you just order us around; why do you want it done by yourself? Tell us the truth, you also find her beautiful, don't you?" Kheed joined the conversation, with a hint of teasing in his tone.

"Loving was the last thing I would ever do; my revenge will always be my top priority," the young man exhaled from his cigarette, turning to face the two. "She was a thorn I needed to take off in order to make sure our mission won't implicate."

"What if she doesn't remember anything? You'd be wasting your time instead of focusing on our mission. Remember Luther, this isn't just about your parents," Lucas said, still not agreeing with his friend's decision.

"I know, which is why I'm going to expose her little act in a matter of time, and this will not affect our mission; we'll continue as planned," Luther replied.

"But how are you going to do it? You have no experience with love," Kheed asked again, stopping the young man. "You know, pretending means you really have to act like his boyfriend, so you have to act sweetly towards her."

This caught the young man off guard. The only thing on his mind is keeping the girl close and preserving his secret hidden. "I don't think I have to do that... All I had to do was tell her I was her lover."

"How can she believe it? Dude, if you want to do your plan, you have to act. Now you know how hard my job is," Kheed said, referring to his frequent impersonation of Luther.

"Looks like problems are popping up on his way even before he starts his new mission," Lucas joked. The young man only gave them a dirty look, unable to retaliate because what he said was correct.

"Well, if you want, you can take classes from me for free," Kheed teased, adding to Luther's annoyance. "No need, I'll do it my way," he replied, then smoked another cigarette.

They just laughed, shaking their heads, wondering how their friend was going to carry out his new mission.
