Chapter 10

Lauren stared at me, then laughed. "I want enough money for me and my dad to live like kings forever. I want you and your dad to apologize to me. And I want Matteo to be my dog again."

The room fell silent, every face darkening.

Tears streamed down Pamela's face. She shouted, "No way! I'd rather die than let my son go near you again!"

Lauren tightened her grip, and a trickle of blood ran down Pamela's neck.

Matteo screamed, "Stop!"

Tom's voice cracked. "Lauren, don't do this! Come home with me. You're my only daughter. You can't throw your life away."

Her gaze finally landed on him. She laughed bitterly, "Home? I hate you the most! You were never there when I was a kid. Then you showed up, claiming to be the richest man, promising I could have anything. But you're a fraud. Why aren't you the real deal? Why are you such a pathetic loser?"
