The highlight of school for me had been when my cousin broke up with the dork she began dating against aunt Lucia's advice. The thing was, after my aunt's husband left her four years ago, Flavia changed from the slightly spoiled child she was to a rebellious teenager whose sole intention was to frustrate my aunt. I knew aunt Lucia would be ecstatic because she never liked Vance for her daughter, so I was excited to give her the news because I knew Flavia wouldn't bother doing it, leaving her to assume she was still dating him.

As Martin drove me back home–Jane couldn't because her mother asked her to go get her brother from his school– he kept tapping the skin of his wheels with his index, a shit-eating grin on his face. I used the moment to study his features, taking in his brown hair which was sticking out in all directions, his blue eyes, large puppy ears and wide nose plus the small scar above his upper lip. He had the potential to be good-looking if he would just dump that
