Chapter 9. Exposé

Adam and Nancy arrived with me still upstairs, hurriedly drying my hair after having to wash it to get rid of the fish smell no thanks to my food fight with my aunt. When I was done with my clothes, I quickly moved to pack my hair but I couldn't find the hair band I dropped on my table, which struck me as weird. I tried to look for it around the table but my search turned up empty. A growl escaped my lips when my aunt called loudly from below for me to come down. Sighing defeatedly, I let my brown hair fall to its full length, coated my lips with a gloss and walked out in a t-shirt and blue faded jeans.

I paused, almost taking the wrong step when I saw they were waiting for me in the narrow corridor that was directly in front of the stairs. I focused my eyes on Nancy and a genuine smile crossed my face. She wrapped her arms around me and pulled me into her. Her familiar scent of cakes and creams enveloped me and I melted into her warm embrace.
