Chapter 10. Troubled child

We sat in silence until the roaring of his bike became a distant sound. Flavia was busy skinning Nancy alive with her eyes for cutting short her time with Adam. My aunt cleared her throat and gave a shaky smile as she tried to revive the mood in the room.

“Well, let's continue our discussion.” She said, making contact with me to help her. I tried to speak but Flavia stood up and threw her napkin on the table.

“I am no longer hungry, I am going to bed early.”

“But you didn't eat much.” aunt peered at her barely touched plate and looked at her.

“I have lost my appetite, Lucia. I am tired and I have cheerleading practice tomorrow.” She went to her room without saying good night to any of us.

“I'm so sorry I ruined dinner. I was just so excited to talk about his achievements and apart from the girls throwing themselves at him in town, he has virtually no friends here.”Her voice trembled and her eyes were glassy as she spoke. “I didn't think he would react that way.” Nancy sniffed.
