Chapter Twenty Nine

I kept looking back and forth between them as neither of them moved but all I could focus on was my stomach grumbling for food and my mouth watered at the smell of pastries.

Bad timing, Emma.

"Uhhh...I'm gonna get some food," I tried to excuse myself, not knowing if Austin wanted me to stay or not. Claire said she wanted to talk with him alone and I felt like an intruder.

"Stay," he said in a stern voice, his hands, gripping my waist tightly.

"Austin..." Claire started but he interrupted her.

"What do you want?" he hissed in anger, trying to keep his voice down as we were surrounded by people. Thankfully, the music was distracting them from noticing us.

"I didn't expect to see you here. I just want to tell you how sorry I am," she had a sad look on her face which made me almost feel bad. Austin scoffed in response, pinching the bridge of his nose.
