Chapter 4

Author: Wake Up
"I'll cut you if you continue to dilly-dally!" The kidnapper's voice rang again, bringing me back to reality.

I didn't know what to do. If I called Theodore, would the same tragedy happen again? I was panicking as my mind raced.

Just then, I saw a figure moving at the entrance. It turned out to be Theodore's assistant, Peter Zimmer.

I shouted, "Help me!"

"Mrs. Lambert, are you really here?" Peter walked into the cave unfazed—as if it were not a dangerous kidnapping scene but a boring tea party.

I almost cried for joy as if I had just seen my savior, but what he said next made my heart sink instantly. "Mr. Lambert asked me to ask what the kidnapper would need in return for the release of a drama queen like you."

The kidnapper was obviously surprised as he looked at Peter wide-eyed, but he soon regained his composure. "Cut the crap. A hundred million dollars or you can collect Mrs. Lambert's corpse!"

Hearing the figure, Peter paused for a moment before bursting out laughing. His laughter was especially loud in the cave. "A hundred million dollars? Haha, how dare you ask for that amount?"

Peter stopped laughing, his eyes full of disdain and sarcasm. "Mrs. Lambert, Mr. Lambert warned me before I came that you're a good actress. He knows that you're pretending to be pitiful to stop him from traveling."

"He knows?" I looked at him in disbelief, my hopes shattering instantly.

Peter answered coldly, "Of course, he knows. Mr. Lambert reminded me to tell you that he won't be coming. Why don't you pretend for a while more? I'll... leave first."

My heart felt like it was pierced by a sword, and tears could not stop flowing down. "No, no." I had to save myself, so I screamed, "Peter, you have to believe me. Please. I really don't know this man. I've been kidnapped."

The kidnapper was also angered by Peter's lack of cooperation. He kicked me hard and said through gritted teeth, "You really think I won't do it?"

"I don't want to die. Give them the money!" I crouched on the ground and groaned in pain, but my heart hurt more.

"Mrs. Lambert, you're not worth a hundred million dollars to Mr. Lambert." Peter snorted. His disregard for me made me aware of my inferior place in the family.

They did not care if I lived or died.

  • After Being Thrown into a Snake Pit by My Husband and Reborn, I Chose to Leave   Chapter 10

After I left, Theodore stabbed Rosalie with one of the paring knives on the coffee table. Finally, ambulance sirens were heard in the residential area, and Theodore was reportedly seen with a bloody knife in his hand, crying for help in despair. However, none of this was no longer my business. I had a new life. I had successfully changed the course of events in this life, and I was currently soaking in a hotel bathtub.I did not expect Theodore to show up a month later. When I opened the door, he fell to his knees in front of me. "Celeste, I was wrong. Will you forgive me? I don't want a divorce. I want to spend my life with you."I frowned. "Theodore, the world doesn't work the way you want it to."He answered, "No... I know I was wrong. I know you still like me."The once high and mighty man knelt humbly in front of me, but it only made me sick."Hold on, Mr. Lambert. There's no cure for regret. You killed your future children with your own hands. It serves you right."Yes, I

Rosalie could not help taking a step back. "W-What are you talking about?""Rosalie, what's going on? Who's that man?" Theodore looked at her angrily.Rosalie suddenly rushed up and tried to take my phone. Unfortunately, I was prepared. I easily dodged her and played another clear recording."Reagan, you're the only one I love. Please, let's get back together." It was Rosalie's humble voice. She acted like the queen when she was with Theodore, but it turned out she could be a simp for someone else. The guy named Reagan was indifferent. "You want to get back together with me? Aren't you with Theodore?""Reagan, I have nothing to do with him. Theodore is the one who keeps pestering me and following me around like a simp," Rosalie replied.Reagan's voice was still indifferent. "Is that so? You'd better not be two-timing us.""No, no. How can Theodore compete with you? He's just a backup..."My phone fell and was smashed to pieces. It was not Rosalie but an angry Theodore who smash

"Theodore, I'm scared." Rosalie rubbed her temples and fell into Theodore's arms. Then, Theodore threw me on the floor, and my belly hit the corner of the table. An excruciating pain hit me, and I clutched my belly with my hands as warm liquid gushed out between my legs. The dumbfounded doctor yelled, "Oh no, she's having a miscarriage! We must operate on her immediately."However, Theodore remained unresponsive. All he did was caress Rosalie's stomach."Why argue with a madwoman? What if your pregnancy is affected and it harms our son?"I was also carrying his baby, but he would not glance at mine. Instead, he treasured the one Rosalie was carrying.Even if it was my second chance at life, I still could not help feeling saddened.Theodore pointed to my nose and roared, "Celeste, stop fucking pretending! Get on your knees and apologize to Rosalie. If you don't apologize, I'll divorce you and throw you out. You won't get anything when that happens."I finally gave up. Even if my

"See. I told you she was faking it." A snarky voice rang out, accompanied by the click-clack of high heels hitting the ground. The next second, in came Rosalie.I was finally relieved that she was alive. I had finally changed my fate.As soon as Rosalie appeared, Theodore stopped looking at me and immediately turned into a gentle and kind man who held her hand. His loving look made it seem as though he were holding a priceless collection. "Why did you come here? You're more than a month pregnant. You should be resting."Rosalie twisted her neck, looked at me sarcastically, and provoked, "Oh, you didn't think we were going to cancel our trip for you, did you? I'm pregnant, and I live next door."Theodore said, "Don't hurt our baby because of someone unrelated. Let me help you back to your ward."I was so relieved to hear that she was pregnant. I could get a divorce from Theodore and escape from him for good.Just as they were about to exit my ward, the doctor came in head-on. "Who

I did not expect to die faster this time. Amid the chaos, I seemed to have returned to three years ago.…I checked into a hotel on a business trip. I opened the door with the card, and a man reeking of alcohol immediately pounced at me. Although his face was red, he had defined features and was handsome. The buttons on his chest had been torn open, revealing a strong chest. Before I could say anything, he threw me on the bed. He exuded a young yet intense love, and his clear eyes melted my heart. The first time we met, I was attracted to him with a primitive impulse."I'm going to marry you," he said. His eyes were like the moon, and his tone was seductive. I could not contain myself, and he had already begun to undress me.However, he sat on the bed and said nothing on our wedding day."Why aren't you in bed?" I asked him shyly."In bed? I thought we'd already slept together? Have you forgotten that our intimate photos were all over the news? Now that you've gotten the statu

Peter looked at me on the ground with disdain. "If you think that kidnapping yourself will change Mr. Lambert's attitude toward you, you're dreaming."It was what fate did sometimes; it would ruthlessly drive people into a corner.I struggled to prove that none of this was an act, but Peter was unmoved no matter how hard I tried. The moment Peter turned around, the kidnapper panicked. "Take one more step and I'll kill her.""Kill her. Hurry up." Peter turned around with a grin. He waved, motioning to the kidnapper to continue. "Mr. Lambert doesn't want this woman anymore anyway. Just keep acting and we'll see who has the last laugh."Before he finished speaking, a cold flicker gleamed in the kidnapper's hand as he sliced a gaping hole in my face. Bright red blood burst."Help me!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. The moment Peter turned around, my heart jumped as tears almost burst out of my eyes. However, before I breathed a sigh of relief, Peter laughed out loud.
