Alison looked stunned, but who looked even more shocked was Ella.

"Mr Richard Harrison!" She screamed out,"it's such a pleasure to--"

But Richard wasn't having any of that. He walked straight to Alison and Mira. Brad and his mother along with Lily all just stared in surprise.

"Alison, are you alright?" He asked calmly.

Alison looked surprised he had called her by her name so casually like they'd been friends. Finally, a smile worked it's way over to her face.

"Um, yes. Thank you, Richard." There.

She said Richard too without any titles. This made everyone extra surprised. Some were muttering; "She knows him??"

"Great. Let's head in then." Richard said.

"B--but she's here without an invite!" Lily yelled out."And she brought someone extra. This party is strictly with inv--"

"--this party is strictly my party." Richard cut her off instantly.

Maria knew she had to do something, anything at all. "Lily here is not quite alright. She is...sick. She doesn't know this is your party and you have the right to come with your guests."

Lily's eyes bulged open but she knew she dared not say a word.

"Really?" Alison took a bold step to Maria. "I thought as much that she must be dealing with some sort of mental illness. It must be a common thing with you all, seeing how you mistreated me earlier."

With gritted teeth, Maria managed to respond. "Is that so? We are sorry we made you feel like that miss Alison. I hope you are not too startled."

Richard stretched a hand forward and held Alison's. This sent a tingling feeling to her and she almost shivered. It had been unexpected.

"Everyone's waiting for you, the greatest author in town." He said with a charming smile. Brad was handsome, but he was nothing compared to Richard. There was a natural way he carried himself like some sort of fantasy king. And made Alison felt like a powerful queen.

She liked it.

"Thank you. And I hope my sweet Kari is in there waiting for me as well?" Alison said a little loudly as they headed inside with Mira behind.

Maria could barely even wait for them to leave before she spat out! "What nonsense! I can't believe she's one move ahead of us already!"

Ella said through her nose, "she's free to do whatever the fuck she wants, but no one gets close to my man."

"You better act fast. And right." Maria warned.

Brad ignored everyone and stormed in. Before he knew it, his family had joined in too. They were seated on a high table now with Alison and Richard.

Lily muttered in Brad's ears. "How is she able to sit on the high table with Richard and his family??"

Brad ignored. He fixed Alison a hard stare, but she pretended he hadn't even existed! She smiled, chit chat with the lady beside her as well as Richard.

Finally, Brad couldn't take it anymore. He got up to his feet. They were on a long dining table with the rest of the guests on separate seats. But this particular one was like for special guests. Brad didn't need to take the mic to announce. These people were just enough.

"It's such a pleasure to meeting all of you, really." He began to say. Maria flashed a murderous stare but he went on anyway. "A lot of you may not know this, but that young lady beside Mr Richard is none other than my ex wife."

Alison wished the ground would open up now and swallow her! "What are you--"

"--but we've both moved on. Or have we? Seeing you today and my heart still skips a bit." He chuckled. Some people smiled too. Lily winced in pain but kept quiet.

"Is that why you reported me to the dark one

? Because your heart is still skipping a bit when you see me?" Alison frowned slightly.

"What? I would never do that!" Brad lied.

"It doesn't matter. Because the dark one happens to be a distant relative of mine. And from now on, I'd like to say all is forgiven." Richard's voice was loud and firm, filled with authority.

Mira smiled and gripped Alison's hand tight in excitement. The dark one had been giving her some serious headache. Alison wondered how she had not linked Richard to being the mystery texter! She needed to have some serious talk with him later!

But Brad, he took this as an opportunity. "This is why you are such a generous man. And we the Cambridge are blessed to have you as an in-law! My beautiful sister can't sleep at night, always thinking about you!"

Ella smiled, proud to have been mentioned.

In a strict tone, Richard cut him off instantly. He didn't like how his daughter groaned in disappointment or the way Alison stared at him. "Firstly, this is just a simple celebration of the Harrison household's many many victories."

"And secondly, I am not throwing this party as a means of betrothal. I don't know your sister and have no interest in getting married or becoming your in law."

Alison chuckled. She couldn't help it. Traces of wrinkle lines from anger delineated Maria and Ella's face. But neither of them said a word.

"It seems Brad is making a mistake of the idea for this celebration. You must mean to use that speech for a different party." Alison said. This raised some smiles from the guests in the room.

Brad swallowed. He didn't know what to say again.

Lily decided to be the brave one instead. "So Alison, you are very successful, so it seems. Who's the lucky man behind this success? Because three years ago, everyone knows you were just a simple poor lonely orphan."

Silence filled the room. Richard glanced at Alison, then his lips parted to speak but Alison didn't let him start. "I'm a successful romance author. In fact, I'd love to share my story with everyone.

"But before that, why don't you tell us the level of therapy you're currently going through? You know stealing your best friend's husband is not something easy to do. I know you must have had a lot of regret, despite me telling you I've forgiven you."

It was like a big bomb that was just bring dropped! Lily roared out in anger.."I have no regrets!"

"Wait, Mr Cambridge, you are presently married to this young lady? And you confidently talk about your heart skipping a bit. Geez, you are a proud flirt aren't you. Ha ha!" Richard said, then smiled at his daughter. "This is an interesting story."

"I don't think this child should be listening to adult stories like this." Maria said at last after being silent for so long.

"I might be a child. But I know the good people. And bad people of this story. Alison, you must have been through a lot." Little Maggie said.

"We're not bad people dear," Maria said."We--"

"Let's make a toast!" Richard said. "In fact, we're making a toast to my favorite author. Author Alison, cheers!"

  • After Divorce:Ex Husband's Regret.   An Extra Guest

Brad shouted, not caring if his words her hurt Lily or not. "I don't give a fuck about you! You're tired? Then fucking sign the divorce papers I've been throwing at your face since eight months now. I want kids, you can't give me that. We're running on the edge of bankruptcy, and you can't even save me too!"Tears had filled Lily's eyes. "Please, you're making noise. Brad, I'm sorry-"His hand slapped her face as she got closer. It was a hard slap that instantly left a cut on her cheek bone. She cried out in pain. Now, Brad had not meant to hit her. But then, he didn't care. "Go, get the fuck away from me!" He yelled out unapologetically. Then stepped into his car and stormed off. He didn't know where he was going to. He dialed his phone to call Peter, who had been somewhere else working on a mini mission for him. "Did you get it?" He asked."Yes sir. I was able to find a location on her recent post. We tracked the address and found a place. I'm in there now. Although, there isn't m

"Cheers to Alison?" Maria replied bitterly."My husband and your father are very good partners. And we're not even on the list? You --you...""Stop shouting!" Maggie yelled out."Or I throw you out." Richard hadn't even understood why the Cambridge were at his party. Sure, his father was always a business man and made friends with just about everyone, as long as they were rich and powerful. But the Cambridge? He had done his research and found out how dirty the family was!And as for him getting married to Ella? His father preached that to him almost every morning but he pretended to be deaf to that matter. "Hey..it's okay, Maggie." Alison sounded sympathetic and soft. "We're okay. We're just talking."Maggie shook her head."I don't understand adult. This is not talking, it's fighting!""It's not, my sweet Kari. In fact, if you find it not to your taste, we can leave here after this first meal. I'm sure our lovely guests can understand why." Richard said.No. He doubted any of the gue

  • After Divorce:Ex Husband's Regret.   Mystery Texter

Alison didn't have enough time before the first man got closer and squeezed her hand tight, dragging her out. "Hey, let go of me!" She demanded. All this while, Mira was grunting beside her while Alison warned her with serious side glances. Not yet. Of course she knew that the Cambridge were here and would want to cause a scene. That was why she needed a form of attention. And she was clearly getting it. This wasn't the first time she had been to big parties like this. She and Mira had been waiting outside for a while now in the car, watching the guests arrived. Now there were prestigious personnels and even she had seen Richard and little Maggie entered before setting up her plan in action. "What is wrong with you!" She demanded again, making her voice sound strong and helpless. "You're a filth. You don't deserve to be here. You and this other slut!" One of them men yelled out. "You must be such a fool. Do you even know who we are?" Mira scowled. The other one threw his head

  • After Divorce:Ex Husband's Regret.   Embarrass Her

Alison's mind had already began to race. That matter of urgency was giving her a heart attack already. What could have possibly gone wrong! Was it the Dark man raging war on her already! Because he was a local thug..no one messed with him.Once outside, she had already summoned confidence and was ready to deal with whatever she saw. Only to have found...big balloons. Lots of them! And some photographers all flashing their annoying lights at her. There were band singers and the whole place was indeed filled with crowded. It was like one of those moments when she wanted to do a photoshoot, or take pictures with the crowd. All of which are normally in her author's page account. But what was happening now! Then, like someone had made a million dollars deal with Santa, the gifts began to appear. There were huge men carrying boxes filled with presents and behind them, appeared Mira. She was smiling and cheering on!"This is to celebrate you! For being the best author in town, and world wide

  • After Divorce:Ex Husband's Regret.   Fake Tears

Lily faked the tears and was outside for more than five minutes, preparing to fake a depressing emotion. Brad had to believe her! After a while, she walked in and crashed the couch next to him. He looked tired, but she needed to gain his attention still. "Oh my goodness! I have never been more embarrassed in my whole life before. I hate her!" She cried out, silently waiting for his reaction or response at all. Brad ignored. He had other things on his mind. How had Alison been so cold to him like that! She looked so confident. It was starting to irk him. It wasn't until her name was mentioned from Lily before his attention was bought. His eyes lit up, not really in excitement or anger, really. He was just surprised to have heard about her. "Where did you see her? You mean the same Alison Ford?" He asked, curiosity filling him. Lily was not sure she enjoyed this urgent reaction but she nodded. "She humiliated me today. In front of a tiny little girl who was just trying t

  • After Divorce:Ex Husband's Regret.   An Old Friend.

Everything was happening all at once now. The irritating voice kept on calling her name, and poor Mira, who didn't know she was about to die by Alison! Kept on calling for her attention too. Suddenly, something overpowered Alison, and like a horror movie character being possessed by the devil himself, she began advancing to the door. Her purse was now clutching on to her arms as she reached for the door to shut it tight. "Wait there, I'm on my way." She said to whoever the hell was on the phone now. Whether Mira or Lily. The address of the bar was sent to her by Mira, and within a couple of minutes, the taxi arrived at the entrance. Why was she still feeling so enraged like this? She didn't even take a moment to heave in a deep breath before bouncing in like she owned the bar. She could feel a few faces fall on her as she walked in, but Alison was determined to find Mira and Lily. A familiar voice called out her name. Mira. When she turned, her eyes met with the demoness

  • After Divorce:Ex Husband's Regret.   Simple Message

The message was simple enough. She was to attend a party that Saturday by some dude named Harrison, but if she considered going to the party, the mystery figure would reveal his identity and she could finally see who had been behind the mask all these years! Who could it be? Being an orphan, she was clear she had no family anywhere at all, and her only friend had been Lily, who she had grown up with. Then Brad, but why would Brad ever want to help her?? That moron was trying everything to ruin her at the slightest chance he got. "Wait," Alison read through the message over again, picking in the little details. The owner of the biggest automobile company in Maeville, Harbord company, was the one celebrating his birthday. But then, she had just gotten an invitation from that handsome man at the mall! Not wasting any time, she hurried to check her purse, rummaging through it to find that invitation she had gotten from Richard. And there it was. Richard Harrison. Thirty-fifth bir

  • After Divorce:Ex Husband's Regret.   Home Alone

Alison clicked on the light switch as she stepped inside. The whole room was a large beautiful space of silence. For a long while, Alison had been used to staying alone. While she was married to Brad, she would be by herself most of the time with Brad going off on some adventure and lying it was work. And when he started seeing someone, Alison knew too. But it just didn't make sense that someone would be Lily. She was supposed to be her best friend... The sound of her phone jolted her, "Mira?" Alison could not believe. "What part about privacy do you not understand? We're closed, it's goddamn late. No work stuff for crying out loud." Mira's voice was calm. "Ma'am, it's only past eight." Alison sighed. "Okay then, what's wrong? Your calls are always frightening, you know that right?" "Well...I'm sorry but this is frightening. Remember the Cambridge household, you canceled the deal for selling the mansion. I got a complaint that he's pissed off and is even making threats, ma'
