Terry’s Funeral came up within the span of eight days. The cloud knew that a great hero has fallen down so there was a heavy downpour. Every member of Terry’s family starting from his grand children down to his children, brothers and sisters all pulled up for his funeral except Amanda. Men of Timber and calibre including his long time friends all came to celebrate his death with the media house and their team of reporters.
“Did you hear what Terry did to his wealth before he died?” one of the guest asked her friend whom she brought to the funeral celebration. “I don’t know what he did to his wealth. You know that i was out of the country when he passed on.” her friend gave her a quick response. “Oh! That’s true. Anyways, he willed all his property to his daughter,Amanda and gave only ten percent to his remaining children.” “Are you sure about this? I don’t know why i’m finding it this hard to buy in your story. But, why did he do that? Are you sure the remaining children are his? “How am i suppose to provide an answer to all your questions? How about you go ask the dead why he did that?” She smirked at her friend. Stella was over excited when she heard the murmurs of the crowd and what they think about the Terry’s sharing of his wealth. She put on a fake smile as she walked to the podium clinked a spoon on the glass of wine she held before uttering to the crowd. “May i have you all attention,Please? The crowd all stopped their murmurs and whispers as they all went silent in one accord. “First and Foremost, I want to sincerely thank you all for your support and for you accepting our invitation to be here today. Secondly, I want to…” A reporter cut her short, “Mrs. Stella, Is it true that Amanda is going to take over your father’s company even though you are older than her?” Stella breathed in and out, gave a sigh of relief before saying, “ I’m not going to bother myself with unnecessary things like this until I and my family have a proper discussion with my late father’s Administrations.” Another reporter threw at her another question, “Mrs. Stella why can’t we find Amanda here today being an important day in the life of you all?” Stella smiled and sipped her white wine before answering the reporter. “ How about you ask her whenever you see her?” As she continued addressing the crowd a black slik Lexus made a way into the cemetery ground turning every one’s neck to the back. “I haven’t seen anyone in this our city with a customized plate number just like this one.” someone said. The doors of the Camry were opened slowly, and Amanda stepped out oozing a breathe of sweet fragrance. “Wow! It is really Amanda!” The press and reporters all went towards her direction. After Amanda got out of the car ,she turned to the other side and helped a Young man who was fully clothed in a black suit out of the car as they both held hands like two lovebirds. “Is this not Andrew….? Wow! Indeed he is the one !” “You must be kidding. What the h*ll is Amanda doing with Andrew the most richest man in our city?” They were all in awe, one after the other. "I can't believe that the low life Amanda we all thought she'll never make it, is now the one we all run to." one of the guest said in a low tone "Can't you see that she is now with a better man? Andrew is every woman's dream man and we all know it in this city. Rumors have it that the both of them have given birth to kids." another one responded. "Mr. Andrew, how true is it that you and Amanda are in a relationship? " one of the reporters asked as she pushed her microphone towards his lips. "Will you also watch her take over her father's company under your watch?" Another reporter proposed the question. The security men were all at alert as they formed an alliance to protect Amanda and Andrew from the swam of reporters and their flinging microphone. Since Andrew became popular he has always removed himself from the media house and dodged any form of interview session with any journalist but this time around he has to do it to clear their doubts and speculations about the both of them. "Amanda and I are just friends nothing more to that." His response was so short and directive. The crowd continued murmuring as they watched Andrew and Amanda enter the cemetery under the protection of their body guards and security men. Amanda felt emotional and goosebumps laid down low on her subtle skin the moment she saw her father's coffin. Two beautiful kids rushed into the Funeral shouting"Mummy! Mummy! Aunty Jacy brought us to see Grandpa." "Mummy? Did Amanda gave birth to these beautiful kids?" Stella asked herself.Knock! Knock! The sound of the door was heard as it came with a knock not so loud.“Who could that be?” Dickson thought out loud as he tried finding out the person behind the door.“Are you expecting anyone in this house?” He asked Betty who acts like the second in command whenever Amanda isn't around.“I'm not expecting anyone, sir. As you can see madam Amanda asked me to watch over her son and that's what I'm being paid for.” She made her duties clear to him in a clearer tone.“I don't know if at all I'll be doing the right thing to open the door for the person behind the door to enter.” He stood up from where he sat and paced around uncontrollably.Betty watching the way Dickson moved spoke up, “You don't have to bother at all it might be that the knock was a mistake.”“That could be true as well. Let's hope that the knocker won't knock again.” Betty addressed him pointing her fingers to the chair instructing him to seat on it.Knock! Knock!“Did you hear that? I think I need to te
“Francisca can’t be left alone. Look after her!”Anna nodded solemnly. “Miss Amanda, don’t worry. I’ll take good care of her!”“Then I’ll take my leave first!”“Goodbye, Miss Amanda!”Amanda did not say anything else. She took her bag and left in a hurry.Dickson followed closely behind.Amanda arrived at the parking lot and reached for the car key in her pocket, only to realize thather car was still at the studio.Dickson was the one who sent her and Francisca to the hospital.“Uh…” Amanda frowned and resentfully put the car keys back into her bag.She was about to hail a taxi when a car stopped beside her.“Get in!” Dickson rolled down the window and looked at her casually.Amanda was stunned.Even though she didn’t want to get into his car, she knew he would go crazy again if she rejectedhim.Helpless, Amanda obediently got into the front passenger seat.In the car.Amanda did not say a word, Her expression was cold and indifferent.Dickson glanced at her from time to time, his g
Seeing that Francisca had recovered, she could not help but lie on the bed and fall asleep. She took a nap in a daze and felt someone putting a piece of clothing on her shoulder.Amanda was shocked and quickly opened her eyes. She turned around and saw Dickson. He was holding a suit and putting it on her at that moment.Amanda suddenly sat up straight. “Dickson, why are you back again?”Seeing how nervous she was, Dickson chuckled. “You still owe me a bowl of noodles, so why can’t Ibe back?”Amanda frowned in frustration. “This is a hospital. I can’t make noodles for you!”“When are you going to make it for me?”“When my daughter recovers, I’ll make it for you when I have time!”Dickson chuckled. “Alright, I’ll wait for you!”“There’s nothing else here. You can go back now!”When Dickson heard this, he raised his eyebrows and smiled. “No, I want to accompany you here!”“I don’t need your company. It’s already so late. Hurry up and go back to sleep!”“Don’t worry. I’ll make the noodle
Seeing Dickson had found Eric to confront him, Amelia was frightened and uneasy.Dickson’s face was covered with a layer of coldness. “Why are you so nervous?”“I’m not nervous!” Although Amelia denied it, her heart was about to jump out of her throat.Dickson examined Amelia with a sinister expression.“Dickson, don’t look at me like that. Do you… not trust me?” Amelia’s body went numb from hisstare. As she spoke, her tears fell again. She looked weak and helpless.Dickson did not say anything else. He just smoked silently and waited. While waiting, Amelia became even more uneasy. She wanted to find an opportunity to call or send a message to Eric to warn him not to spoutnonsense.Unfortunately, Dickson was watching her. She had no chance at all.Half an hour later!Eric was brought to an office. There was a huge double–sided mirror in the office.Dickson and Amelia were behind the mirror. They could see Eric’s every move. However, Eric could not see them.Seeing Eric, Amelia’s fac
Amanda rolled her eyes and pushed open the door to the ward. Standing outside, Amelia appeared lost in thought. It seemed like she had been standing there for quite some time, her face reflecting a mix of despair and sorrow. Amanda, taken aback, questioned, "What brings you here?" In response, Amelia mustered a faint sneer, casting a cold look at Amanda and retorting, "Why wouldn't I be here?" Unperturbed, Amanda urged, "Feel free then," and proceeded down the corridor, avoiding any interaction with Amelia. However, Amelia's tone suddenly turned sharp, demanding, "Halt!" Reluctantly, Amanda turned back with a gloomy expression, making it clear that she had no desire to encounter anyone from Anderson’s family."What is your intention?" Suddenly, Amelia forced a miserable smile, resembling an injured little white rabbit. "Why do you have to meddle with my boyfriend?" She questioned with a gasp, her trembling nose bridge resembling a pitiful, dehydrated goldfish."Amelia, I'll say it aga
Dickson looked at her from head to toe. His hawk-like eyes seemed to be seeking credit.Amanda took a deep breath and swiftly breathed in and out.She didn’t want to say anything now–not a single word.Seeing she was still silent, Dickson arrogantly pursed his lips and confidently approached her from the opposite side of the bed."Your daughter might have been dead without me! Don't you think you should express your gratitude?" he said. Facing Amanda, Dickson remained shamelessly self-assured, as if his actions were entirely expected.Amanda took a deep look at Dickson and had mixed feelings. She was naturally grateful to him. However, after hearing what he said, the gratitude suddenly turned into ashes."Say something!" Dickson insisted, reaching out to encircle her shoulder."What are you after?" Amanda questioned, her pupils narrowing, revealing a subtle sharpness.“Judging from his expression, he probably wants me to compensate him with that again!” Amanda thought. The last bit of
