Chapter 201

Author: Summer Knowles
Even though Richard doted on her, Lucy was still his real granddaughter. He could accept his granddaughter being taught a lesson, but he couldn't bear to watch her suffer indefinitely.

Sarah stood up, rubbing her numb legs from crouching. "Grandfather, because you've been good to me, I can be lenient. But I'm not sure she'll change her ways."

She had given Lucy multiple chances, yet Lucy kept stirring up trouble time and time again.

Richard sighed, "Don't worry, once she's out, I'll confine her to the old mansion. I won't let her cause you any more trouble. If there's a next time, I absolutely won't have the nerve to come asking for mercy again."

For an elder to plead on behalf of a younger generation was already quite humbling. The fact that he was asking Sarah made it an even bigger decision.

If Mrs. Chancer and James hadn't repeatedly come to beg him, crying and showing him videos, he wouldn't have gotten involved at all.

Sarah nodded. She could ignore James and Mrs. Chancer,

News spread through the business departments and management floors almost instantly. And of course, the gossip followed.A few employees took a break together, chatting over tea, repeating every rumor they had seen online—whether true or not—with dramatic flair.Charlotte, who had just arrived at the office for the first time in ages, happened to walk past just as one of the women said, “Honestly, our CEO’s daughter never learned to be content. She already has a kid and still can’t stay in line. No wonder he divorced her.”The words made Charlotte’s blood run cold. She stepped forward in one sharp stride, stopping behind them with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “Sounds like you’re having a great time. Want to hear something even funnier? I’ve got plenty of stories.”“Miss Garnett! We didn’t mean anything by it. Please don’t be upset. We’ll get back to work right now.”The group scattered like startled birds, disappearing down the hallway. They had only been repeating what w

Mrs. Garnett stiffened with worry the moment she heard the news. Her carefully maintained face tightened with genuine concern. “She didn’t eat? That’s not okay. Warm the food again and give it to me—I’ll take it to her myself.”The housekeeper practically sighed with relief. Miss Charlotte had been unpredictable these past few days—sometimes throwing things, sometimes shutting down entirely. The housekeeper was terrified of getting caught in one of her outbursts. She carefully handed the tray to Mrs. Garnett and quickly returned to her chores.Mrs. Garnett went upstairs and stopped at Charlotte’s bedroom door. She knocked. No response. With a frown, she pulled out the spare key and let herself in.The room was dim and silent.“Charlotte, honey, it’s Mom,” she called softly. “The housekeeper said you didn’t eat. I’m worried about you.”From beneath the blankets, Charlotte slowly lifted her head. It took her a long moment to speak. When she did, her voice was hoarse. “Just… leave t

“Yes,” Mia whispered, squeezing her eyes shut in pain.Zachary immediately led her out, glancing back at Sarah again and again as if still worried.Sarah slipped into her own car. She could already picture what the next morning would look like.Vivian’s imprisonment would sweep across the entire East Coast like wildfire, and Wilson Corp would once again become everyone’s favorite target.Harbour Crescent—once a luxury resort—was now nothing but rubble. In just a few months, the construction workers had abandoned the site, stripping the place of anything valuable. The once-glamorous Harbour Crescent Resort had become the most desolate property in the city. When Vivian was taken to prison, she didn’t even have time to understand that this was where she would spend the rest of her life. Her ambitions had shattered. Her grandfather was still unconscious. Wilson Corp was barely alive.Even her own lawyer had stopped returning her calls. And just as Sarah expected, the news broke tha

Vivian’s lawyer gave her a subtle nudge, signaling her to start apologizing.Vivian understood immediately. She lowered her gaze and whispered, stumbling over the words, “I… I’m sorry. It was my fault…”She lifted her eyes for just a second—first at Tina’s mother, then toward the gallery where Sarah sat—and then she saw Zachary. The apology died in her throat. She couldn’t say another word. Not with him watching. She had once told him the Wilson family had pride. Now, with all eyes on her, she couldn’t bear for him to see her beg.Her lawyer panicked. “What are you doing? Say it. Say it now!”“I… I…” Vivian’s voice broke off again. No matter how hard she tried, the words wouldn’t come out. Not while Zachary was in the room.Under his calm, distant gaze, she finally snapped. She sat down abruptly, lips pressed shut. Her attorney’s expression turned ice cold. “Do you have any idea what you just threw away? That was your chance. Why didn’t you speak?”“…Zachary is here.”The la

He had never imagined Vivian had committed this many cruel acts. This wasn’t one or two incidents—it was an entire trail of wrongdoing. If it were only the Michael Luther case, or even Tina’s situation, he might have found room to negotiate or argue for a reduced sentence. But with this many cases and a complete chain of evidence, there was nothing he could defend. When the court finally recessed, he was allowed a brief private meeting with Vivian.“Miss Wilson, things are looking extremely bad for you,” the attorney said.Vivian looked exhausted. Days of tension had pushed her nerves to the breaking point. Hallucinations and nightmares clung to her like shadows. Even in the courtroom earlier, she thought she saw a pale woman in the gallery—another with a disfigured face. She almost lost control, and only years of discipline kept her from collapsing.“Is there really no way to argue for innocence?” she murmured. The lawyer stared at her, stunned. “Absolutely not. Miss Wilson, wh

Mr. Hartman recovered first and let out a short laugh. “Since you’ve already dragged everything into the open, then we might as well tell the truth. Yes, two or three months ago, Director Churchill and I liquidated our shares. But the new owners gave us full proxy rights. In other words, we represent two actual shareholders. You have no authority to remove us from this meeting.”The room erupted. No one had expected the two men who had always appeared the most loyal to have secretly made the smartest move long ago.Mr. Churchill gave Henry a disdainful look. “The real issue here is you. As far as I know, you don’t hold a single Wilson Corp share. You have no right to question us. If anything, you’re the one who should be leaving.”Henry suddenly burst into laughter. “You still don’t get it?”He pulled two documents from his briefcase and tossed them on the table in front of Hartman.“Take a good look. These are the transfer agreements. The two shareholders you claim to represent a
