Hannah’s POV

We searched for that file from afternoon until nightfall, as though it might magically reappear if we just tore the house apart thoroughly enough.

Every drawer was emptied. Every cupboard was overturned. The study that once smelled of books and quiet authority was reduced to chaos. Documents scattered across the floor, drawers left hanging open, desk lamps tilted at awkward angles like they were watching our desperation in silence.

Even Micheal and Bryce joined in.

Micheal, still barely speaking to me since everything with Lenora, searched with a tense jaw and eyes that refused to meet mine. Bryce tore through the shelves in the hallway, muttering curses under his breath.

My mother hovered uselessly, wringing her hands.

“Maybe it was misplaced,” she kept saying. “Maybe it was moved to another drawer.”

But I knew better.

It hadn’t been misplaced.

It had been stolen.

When evening crept in and the sky darkened outside the windows, the house felt heavy, like it was holding it

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 159

Hannah’s POVI found myself in the garage, leaning heavily against the cold bumper of the Range Rover. The car’s glossy surface reflected the dim light of the evening, but all I could focus on was the storm raging inside me. Tears poured freely down my cheeks, hot and unrelenting, as my chest heaved with every breath. It felt as though something was lodged deep within my ribs, an invisible weight, pressing, suffocating, making it difficult to breathe, difficult to think, difficult to even hear the world around me.The emotions were overwhelming, crashing over me in waves so fierce I could barely stay afloat. My mother, after all these years, had finally asked for my forgiveness. For eighteen-year-old me, the girl who once prayed nightly for her mother’s love and approval, this was a dream come true. But the twenty-three-year-old woman I’d become had built walls, convinced herself she didn’t need her mother’s approval anymore. And now that it was here, in this fragile, broken moment,

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 158

Hannah’s POVThe whole family gathered around Adam’s dining table that evening, and the air in the room was thick with an unspoken tension. The warm scent of food, spices mingling with the savory aroma of slow-cooked meat and fresh herbs filled the space, trying to comfort us but unable to mask the heaviness that settled over our hearts.Dad, Adam, and I sat on one side, while Mom, Micheal, and Bryce sat across from us. The silverware clinked softly against the plates, the occasional scrape of a fork accompanied by the gentle murmur of small talk. But the words were few and far between. Mostly it was just the practical, the surface-level exchanges like “pass me the salt,” or “could you please pass the water?” Simple necessities to keep the dinner moving forward.Yet beneath those mundane words, there was a quiet undercurrent, something that hummed just below the surface. It wasn’t bitterness or anger. No, it was something closer to guilt. A shared weight that none of us quite knew how

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 157

Hannah’s POVWe were all standing outside the gate, locked out of the home that had once been ours. The cold metal bars separating us from what used to be familiar felt like the sharpest cut. My mother was already breaking down. She sat on the edge of the curb, her shoulders shaking uncontrollably, tears streaming down her cheeks.“How is this even possible?” she sobbed, clutching her hands as if trying to hold herself together. “How on earth did this happen?” Her voice cracked, and she covered her face with her hands.I looked at her and my heart ached. Mom was utterly shattered. “We’ve lost everything. Just like that… everything is gone,” she whispered between sobs.Micheal quietly sat down beside her, wrapping his arms around her trembling form, trying his best to be a comfort she desperately needed. I watched them, my brother’s protective embrace, Mom’s helpless tears and I wanted so badly to take the pain away, but there was nothing I could do. The cruel reality was sinking in fo

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 156

Hannah’s POV:My father’s face contorted in disbelief as he stared at the chaos before us. His voice trembled, betraying his shock. “What? Why would Maria do something like this?”My mother, equally stunned, shuffled her feet and shrugged helplessly. “I don’t know,” she admitted, her voice laced with confusion. “When she came home today, I asked where she was yesterday. She didn’t answer me, just started throwing our things outside. She told us to leave… said she owns the house now.”The words hit my father like a physical blow. His eyes widened, and he shook his head in disbelief. “She said she owns the house? That’s impossible.”Inside, my mind raced. Maria had to have been at Uncle Chen’s place yesterday, maybe even earlier. She must have known about his plan to overthrow my father at the company. That explained her sudden confidence, her audacity to throw us all out like we were nothing. But even then, how exactly had she gained control of the house? Just because Chen had taken ov

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 154

Hannah’s POVMy father looked up at me, the streaks of silver in his hair catching the slanted sunlight pouring in through the study window, it also highlighted his shoulder and head shadow. For a moment, he just stared at me like I’d spoken in a foreign language. Then his brows drew together slowly, his confusion giving way to a guarded frown.“What do you mean?” he asked.I took a step closer to his desk, feeling the weight of the words pressing down on my chest.“I mean that by tomorrow, you’re going to be voted out of power,” I said, my voice steadier than I felt. “Uncle Chen is going to take over the company. We don’t have time, Dad. We need to do something now.”He leaned back in his chair, the leather creaking beneath him, still studying my face as if he expected me to laugh and admit it was a joke.“Hannah,” he said slowly, “where did you hear something like this?”I opened my mouth to explain about Chairman Gus, about the coffee shop, about the look in his eyes when he told m
