ALMA'S POV

What was that they said about when things finally start falling into place?

That part where it feels like, oh wow, everything's actually looking up. Looking good. Everything's finally feeling right.

That's how I felt.

How I felt coming into work on a Monday morning after the circus that was my weekend. Meeting such good news.

"All the pieces are gone."

"All our pieces, your pieces are sold out ma'am! They're all gone

ALMA'S POV If I wasn't sure about Valtier Gem International, I was most definitely sure now. After getting back to the office and receiving a query, receiving the confirmation email from the Valtier Gem International representative that everything had been confirmed from their end and contract awaiting to be signed. Everything so quickly done and nice.I made a good decision.A hard to come by decision, and I wouldn't let anyone make me feel otherwise about that. Not even he was CEO or my boss."We really have to thank this friend of yours, Ma'am!""Yeah. We had to." I agreed with Gwen, thinking fondly to my morning. My breakfast.I had to do something for him. Even if he'd already said I owed him, I kind of felt like I should get something for him for the meantime.I was still on that thought when a package came in for me during the afternoon lunchtime.A lunch. From him, Gabriel."Can't have you looking stressed again, My Goddess." His little note read.Making me smile and roll my

Damien's POV "Madam has secured a new supplier!"I paused, "She what?""She has secured a new supplier for the Heritage Collection. I heard her staff talking about it just now." Tony explained enthusiastically. One would think he was on their team not from my office."Weren't those same staff dejectedly strolling the halls few minutes ago? She hasn't even come in yet, had she? She hasn't reported in for the day.""Madam hasn't sir.""So how come the new supplier then?" I questioned, "Did she do it while in her sleep? It's barely 8am in the morning."I'd met her yesterday. Went down to meet her, talk to her, talk sense and reason into her but she?She only took all that with hostility. Glaring up and daring to exchange words with me.Something she'd never done before. The divorce issues and talks between us, aside. She was never one for strong-headedness. She always saw reason.Th

  • After I Gave Up On My Husband    Chapter 51

ALMA'S POV I spent the rest of the day and night looking through every possible solution. Every gemstone supplier in the region.None had a shade similar or even spot on with Bellamys. Was this some sort of bad karma I had accumulated? Some kind of punishment I was receiving, cause oh my lord! How could I be so unlucky right now??My phone kept buzzing on the side with text messages and info from my team, as well someone else interested in contacting me. But none could alleviate my stress.None.I could feel my spirit gradually drain out of me, leaving nothing but an empty shell of depression behind. Only then did I get up to find something to eat.Food.A real food that wasn't sandwiches or a bottle of water like I'd eaten back at the office. So it was past 2am, the world asleep, my eyes sad, stressed. Body physically in the kitchen, having no choice, and yet my phone kept buzz

  • After I Gave Up On My Husband    Chapter 50

ALMA'S POV Luckily, I made it back in time for our little celebration. Myself and the team. Making promises to do more, be more courageous and ensure our every project was a hit.Of course there wasn't much we could do, not when we couldn't control the universe. Or at least that's what the next few weeks taught me."Status report.""They're not taking calls any longer, ma'am. They're really pulling out." Angela started, panicked, following me in. Everyone following me in."They're pulling out, why? We're doing great, business is about to get good. Why pull out now??" Gwen questioned aloud , uttering the very question on each of our minds. Our team.I reached my desk, setting down my purse. "This isn't normal, Ma'am." Micheal said, shaking his head. "Nothing about this is normal, something's wrong.""They should at least meet with us. With you." "They should've given appropriate notice, not just dismiss us with one flimsy call." Gwen let out, pissed. "Or maybe they have a problem w

  • After I Gave Up On My Husband    Chapter 49

Damien's POV But other than that... nothing.I had nothing.I put the sketch down regardless, taking up another. Then another, and another. Noting more scribblings. More dates. The timelines more frequent instead of months apart. Some short words, brief sentences, dates."She made pieces and sketched almost everyday? Even while at work?" I wondered aloud, confused cause...How did she make sketches, sketches that most weren't used at work or submitted for review and yet still had time for her actual work?I looked through more of the sketched papers scattered on the table, looking at them intently now. Noting how different each one seemed to feel. Some had a delicate feel to them, sketches smooth and faint. But some, some the pencils were darker. Harder. Like she'd put in pressure to mark every curve, every line, sketched the design to life. The piece on the paper looking bold. Offensive yet pleasing to the eyes.

  • After I Gave Up On My Husband    Chapter 48

Damien's POV I went upstairs after that, stripped for a shower. A cold one. Staying under a couple of minutes then ditching that for a cool night drive. No driver. Not my normal optics, but still. As suddenly as it was, I found myself parked in front of 2 Avenue Street, Degmark. A certain studio. Alma's studio. "Why am I here right now?" I asked myself aloud for my ears to hear. Maybe provide me with a benefiting answer. But I got nothing. 20 minutes sitting there still, and I got nothing. But I did see the lights turned on inside though. Movements. Could she be in there? Not that I wanted to see her, I'd rather not. Deeply rather not. So why not leave? Why stay? I couldn't explain that part. I didn't know how to explain it, my feet eventually left the car and heading into the building. The small structure warm against the skin, air inside warm. Both in lighting. Much like our workshops back at the office. Her private studio. The place she talked about endlessly, espe
