Kimberly’s arms tightened around him before her mind caught up with what she was doing. The familiar scent of his cologne, the one she craved for reasons she didn't know, one that gave her that unknowing comfort, instantly wrapped around her, dizzying, grounding and overwhelming all at once.

For a heartbeat, Bryce didn’t move. His body was stiff, caught between surprise and restraint. He didn't see that hug coming.

But slowly, his hand came up to rest against her back, steadily and firm, as though he were anchoring her.

The whispers in the hall grew louder. Parents nudged each other, some were smiling knowingly, others wide eyed with curiosity, wondering who that woman hugging Bryce right now was.

Kimberly pulled back quickly, her face heating as she realized what she’d done. Her smile wavered into something softer, almost shy. “You came,” she whispered, barely audible over the chatter.

Bryce’s amber eyes held hers, unreadable but intense. “I told you I would come,” he said, his deep

Kimberly stiffened at first, startled by the sheer force of need in the way he clung to her. But then she melted into him, her hands finding his back as she pressed her cheeks against the solid wall of his chest. His scent..... that clean, masculine and achingly familiar one, wrapped around her, grounding and dizzying all at once. It stirred something deep in her chest, something she had spent years burying, something she wasn’t ready nor sure she wanted to name. For a long moment, neither of them spoke. The only sound was the whisper of the cool breeze and the faint thrum of his heartbeat under her ear.His body was warm. Not the kind of warm that soothed, more like the restless heat of someone carrying too much. Almost like a fever. Kimberly frowned slightly but didn’t pull away. When Bryce finally spoke, his voice was low, stripped of the control he always wore like armor. “You don’t have to say anything. Just… let me stay like this for a while.”Kimberly’s throat tightened. She

After spending close to an hour in the shower, relishing in the warmth of the water, Kimberly finally stepped out, the steam still clinging faintly to her skin. She wrapped herself in her silk robe, and walked barefoot back into her room. Sitting at her dresser, she smoothed lotion over her arms in slow, absentminded strokes, her gaze locked on her own reflection in the mirror. But her mind wasn’t really on her reflection. It was suddenly on Bryce.Since they returned from Keira’s play, she hadn’t seen him. Not once. He had headed straight to his room as soon as they got back, and that was the last time she saw a glimpse of him that evening. And she knew he hadn’t gone out, because every one of his cars was still in the driveway.Getting of the dresser, she slipped into her nightwear and her pair of light slippers, and stepped out into the hallway. The old grandfather clock in the upstairs living room chimed faintly as she approached, making her realize how late the time was. It was

“Kimberly?”She spun, and there was Bryce, standing close enough to have seen the storm in her eyes. His brows drew together, concern flashing across his face.Bryce's sharp eyes scanned her face, lingering on the stiffness in her posture, the way her hands were balled into fists. “Are you okay?”“Yes. I'm fine,” she replied too quickly, forcing a thin smile. “Just… waiting for you.”One of his brows lifted more, skeptical. He stepped closer, hovering over her in that effortless way that made it hard to breathe. “Kimberly,” he said quietly, “You're not lying to me, are you?”He could see it clearly in her eyes, that she wasn't alright. Her expression and composure said it all.She looked nothing like the Kimberly who was all smiles and happiness minutes ago.Kimberly's heart lurched in her chest. So he had seen.Sienna's words had affected her that much that she couldn't hide it.“I told you.... I'm fine, Bryce. I was just wondering why it was taking you three so long,” she tried agai

Kimberly rushed into the school building as fast as she could, praying with all her heart that her daughter’s school play hadn’t started already. She had come straight here after the shoot, which had dragged on longer than anyone expected, and now every second felt like a punishment to her.God, all she prayed was that she wasn’t too late. She couldn’t bear the thought of seeing that sad, gloomy, and disappointed look on Keira’s face. She had promised her daughter she’d be here early, well before the play began. The loud sound of her heels against the hallway tiles wasn't even helping the situation. They echoed in her ears like a countdown, each step tightening the knot of worry in her chest.“Hi,” Kimberly said breathlessly as she stopped one of the staff members on her way.The lady turned with a kind smile, her expression brightening in recognition. “Keira’s mom, am I correct?”“Yes, I am.” Kimberly mirrored the smile, though hers trembled with urgency. “Please, where exactly is th

Kimberly sighed in relief as she signed in at the reception desk. With another breath to steady herself, she started toward the exit, ignoring the curious stares that followed her. A few people whispered, acting as though they were seeing her for the first time.Rumors had already spread about Mr. Harrington being married now, but not to Sienna. That alone was enough to send tongues wagging and eyes searching, desperate to know who the mystery woman was.But Bryce and Kimberly had already made their decision. At work, they would behave like ordinary employee and CEO that they actually were, nothing more. Kimberly, especially, wasn’t ready for the drama and gossip that came with being Mrs. Harrington, not yet.Once she stepped out of the hall, she made her way down the coordinating wing. She hadn’t seen Cindy in over a week. They’d spoken over the phone, sure, but it wasn’t the same. Still work related, but for a week now, Cindy hadn't been at the agency. And Kimberly was really mis
