Loren’s POV

I groaned, running my hands through my hair as I stared at the mess in front of me.

I had only four days until the divorce and I still hadn’t found my mother’s documents.

I spent the past few hours searching the entire house,

but every attempt led to a dead end.

I paused, tears pricking my eyes until they landed on familiar brown double doors.

It was the only room I hadn’t checked in the entire house.

Asher’s room.

My heart skipped a beat, but I still pushed the doors open and entered.

I didn’t waste a moment; I started opening drawers and searching the room.

I crouched, checking beneath the bed. Just as I spotted a black box beneath the bed, Asher’s voice drifted toward me.

“Are you lost?” he snarled, narrowing his eyes.

I slowly got up, meeting his eyes, I glanced around, searching for an excuse until I realised…

He wasn’t alone.

Lovie emerged from the walk-in closet, dressed in silk nightwear.

She walked over and Asher immediately wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer.

They had no shame at all. Just when I thought they had stooped low, they managed to stoop even lower.

“I was looking for something.”

It wasn’t a lie. But it wasn’t exactly the truth.

Asher scoffed, adjusting his cuffs “Stop searching, I have something more important for you to do”

My forehead creased. “What do you—“

“Take a couple photos of us.” Lovie said,” You used to love photography, didn't you?” She stepped forward, her meek smile turning into a smirk. “Though I wonder if you can even manage it now with your hands shaking like that?"

She laughed, gesturing at my trembling hand.

I glanced at Asher but he simply pulled her back into his arms, his eyes hardening.

“Did she stutter?” He challenged.

My photography skills aren’t meant for people like you.” I spat.

“Hey! Are you trying to insult us?” Lovie snapped. “You're a cripple; I'm giving you an opportunity here—don't be ungrateful, Loren.”

I glanced at Asher before scoffing. “Forget about it. I’m not taking photos of either of you. If you want them so bad, hire someone.”

I was already halfway toward the door when Asher spoke up.

“That’s exactly what I want to do.” He said. I frowned as he continued, “Besides, you love money a lot, so after the shoot, I’ll just hand you a fat wad of cash,” he strolled toward me, offering his hand.

“Deal?” He flashed me a smirk leaning against the wall.

I glanced at his hand— I didn’t want his money.

But I needed something else. I had searched everywhere but in his room and I couldn’t find my mother’s documents.

It could only mean that it was here and if it was there, Asher knew where it was.

“I’ll do the shoot.” I decided.

Asher’s eyes darkened, “I knew it. Name your price—

“Not for money,” I stepped forward, our eyes locking as he raised an eyebrow.

“I’ll take photos of you if you return my mother’s files,” I said. “I know you have them, so give them to me.”

Asher stared at me for a while, like he was debating it before he spoke up.

“Fine,” He said, “I’ll give you after the shoot.”

“Hurry up, we’ll meet you in the lounge.”

I exited the room, letting out a breath as I strolled toward my bedroom.

I retrieved my camera and gadgets, my hand trembling as I swallowed the lump in my throat.

I was about to take a couple of photos of my husband and his mistress — The situation was laughable.

My grip on the camera tightened but I sucked in a sharp breath and turned, walked toward the lounge where they were already waiting.

Lovie had already changed into a revealing dress when I arrived.

Asher pulled her against his chest as I pushed the doors open, whispering into her ear.

Lovie’s giggle filled the room before she shifted her attention to me. “Let’s start now.”

I shook my head at them, setting up my camera.

“Come closer, Lovie. Your face is glowing,” Asher murmured, brushing his cheek against hers.

“Unlike that cripple’s face,” he growled. “I feel nauseous just looking at her.”

My grip on the camera tightened, my knuckles almost turning white.

"That's the difference between a real woman and a cripple,” Lovie sneered, shooting me a glare. “Forget about skincare, I’m not sure she can—“

“Next shot,” I spoke up, swallowing the lump in my throat.

Asher grabbed Lovie’s waist, tracing her bare skin as he pulled her even closer. “You’re blessed with amazing curves baby.” He said, rubbing his nose against hers.

“I must have been blind to marry that cripple instead of you.”

I didn’t bother asking for the next shot at that point.

I just continued taking photos, watching as they brushed their lips, and finding no words to express how I felt as time passed by.

I just wanted the shoot to be over and done with. It felt like a noose being wrapped around my neck and every three seconds I had to remind myself that I was doing it for my mom.

My throat tightened as they pressed their foreheads against each other.

“That was the last shot,” I found my voice. “You can select your photos now.”

I projected the photos on the large screen in the lounge.

Asher walked over, a smug grin on his face as he checked the photos.

He glanced at me, a spark flickering through his green eyes.

“If you beg me enough,” our eyes met. “Maybe I’ll consider taking a set of photos with you.”

I averted my gaze, pretending I hadn’t heard him speak at all.

Just as I moved to leave, the sound of a loud thud shattered the silence, forcing me to turn.

My eyes widened as the stack of my heavy equipment cases— which had always been securely piled up – came tumbling down.

The last thing I saw when I tried to move was Lovie’s smug smirk before everything went black.

Loren’s POV I paced to and fro, my heart pounding in my chest as tears leaked from my eyes. I glanced at the hospital door for the millionth time, the image of Killian crumbling, the rush to the hospital, the stretcher wheeling him in. I dragged him into my mess and now, he was hurt. It was all my fault.“You’re so shameless, it's disgusting, Loren.”I froze, my gaze narrowing to Asher’s. What was he even doing here? “Who let you in?”“You’re not happy to see your own husband? Why is that Loren? Is it because you're crying for him?”“Look at her, everyone!” he raised his voice, causing people to turn. “She’s my wife but she's not upset about me,” he stepped into my place. “She's worried about her lover.”My hands curled into fists at my sides. “Leave. Right now, Asher.”“And what if I don’t?” He snarled, stepping even closer. Our eyes locked, and he leaned. “You know what, Loren?” he sneered. “Cry all you want, I wish he dies in there!”Asher's face snapped to the side before I

Loren’s POV “I don’t think this is necessary, Killian,” I said, glancing at him as the driver pulled out of the Estate. Killian didn’t look at me. “Of course it is,” He answered. “Whenever something good happens, It's important to celebrate it.”He finally glanced at me. “And we just closed a major deal. It's only natural that we celebrate.”My heart swelled, a small smile breaking at the corner of my lips. He could call it whatever he wanted. But I knew what it was. I knew this was an attempt to cheer me up after Asher’s call. Just when I thought Asher couldn't stoop lower, he proved me wrong. And then, there was Killian. I couldn't help but think about the call again, the way he had calmly called me his wife. Like he was talking about the weather. The way it rolled off his tongue…And for a moment, even though I knew this marriage was just an arrangement, I couldn't help but wonder if he thought it was more. Did he mean it? I shook the thought off. It was impossible. This

Asher’s POV “Asher!” Lovie cried, rushing toward me. She grabbed my bleeding knuckle, her fingers tracing it as she locked eyes with me. “What the heck happened here?!”I glanced around, the entire living room floor was covered with broken bottles, vases, and pillows scattered about. My gaze caught my reflection in the mirror and I almost couldn't recognise myself. Loren had done this. She did all of this. Everything was her fault.I was trying to find the wretch and she was in another man’s arms? “Tell me, Asher, what happened?!”I pushed Lovie off me, growling. “Someone called claiming that Loren was his wife, but what difference will it make? What can you do?” I plopped on the couch, the man’s voice replaying in my head over and over again. I snapped my fingers. “Margaret! Bring my whiskey right now.” The maid rushed forward with a bottle. I reached for it before freezing. “What’s this?” I snapped, “You’ve worked here for so many years and you still don’t know the brand

Loren’s POV “Face the camera,” the photographer said, “To the left, what a wonderful shot,”“More like a wonderful couple,” another staff member said. My grip on my marriage certificate tightened. I glanced up to see Killian. He had the driver take my things to his estate since I insisted I wanted the marriage certificate as soon as possible. My eyes widened a bit as he leaned closer before gesturing at the photographer. The smile breaking through my lips was halted as my phone rang. I held back a groan. It hadn’t stopped ringing since I left Asher’s mansion. No matter how many times I ended the call, Asher was relentless. Killian glanced at my phone but didn’t say anything. I ended the call again, frowning when his texts popped up. “If you come back right now, I’ll let you sleep in our bedroom.” It read. There was a time when it would light me up, but now it only made me nauseous. I stood, so engrossed in my irritation that I lost my footing. Before I could hit the gro

Loren’s POV I traced my black, off-shoulder dress, my gaze lingering on the mirror. The day had finally arrived. I was officially divorcing Asher today. “A-are you sure you want to wear that Madam?” my personal maid spoke up. “Mr. West—““I’m not Mr. West.” I turned, “So his preferences, likes, and dislikes have nothing to do with me.”Her eyes widened. “Whether I black dress or a red one, it’s my choice.”I brushed past her, exiting the mansion and entering a cab. Asher hated the color black, and especially off-shoulder dresses. He’d once asked me to burn the dress, but I loved black so I never had the heart to do it. My decision back then had finally come in handy. “We are here, Ma’am.”I glanced at my watch. I was already thirty minutes late. I paid the cab man and exited the cab, strolling into the divorce office. This time, my head was held high. The moment I walked in, Asher’s eyes narrowed. “Didn’t I tell you not to wear that outfit?” he spat, “Are you trying to sed

Loren’s POVI stepped out of the cab, glancing at the birthday hall. For a moment, I hesitated before taking a deep breath. It was just three more days. After three days, I would be completely free from these people.Swallowing the lump in my throat, I walked into the hall, my eyes catching Asher speaking to some guests in a corner. From the decorations, it was clear he’d spared no expense to ensure Lovie had a lavish birthday. But it didn’t hurt like it used to. Instead of the tears that usually pricked my eyes, I found myself taking quick strides toward Asher. “I’m here,” I said. “Give me the documents.”He paused, staring at me from head to toe like he was searching for something. “Wait a minute,” He said, looking past me as guests started clapping. I turned just as he finished, murmuring right beside my ear. “The real show hasn’t started yet.”He was right. I watched as several men clad in suits walked into the hall in a single line, holding out large velvet boxes. Guest
