MasukAs long as she begs me one more time, I'll never divorce her again. We'll be together forever.
I reached for her hand before freezing as she stirred.
Lovie walked in at the same time. “What took you so long, Lovie?” I spoke up, pulling her into my arms. Loren’s eyes opened as I continued speaking, “I was waiting for you.” “I went to get coffee,” Lovie answered, leaning against me as Loren sat up, glancing at us. “But I’m glad that the cripple is finally awake. She created so much fuss, Asher.” Lovie said, her eyes glistening with fresh tears. “Lovie is right,” I glared at Loren. “It’s clear that you’ve gone to such great lengths — even landing yourself in the hospital and ruining our shoot for only one reason,” I stepped closer, meeting her gaze. “Just because you couldn’t stand to see me taking a couple photos with Lovie.” Loren glared back at me, her hands grabbing fistfuls of the sheet at her sides. “I almost died and somehow you managed to make it about you?” She retorted. “Don’t you think you’re the one making a scene?” “Why are you here anyway?” My jaw tightened. “Don’t be ungrateful, Loren,” Lovie spoke up. “Despite everything you did, we brought you to the hospital, you should be thanking Asher, instead—“ “There’s no point trying to reason with her, Lovie,” I growled, shifting my attention to Loren. “I gave you the chance to take a photo with me earlier but your ego got in the way.” I sat on the chair, staring straight at her as I continued. “No worries, I’ll give you one last chance.” Loren frowned, tilting her head. “You’ll give me one last chance?” “I’ve given you ninety-nine already. So make this one count, okay?” I pulled my chair back, gesturing at the ground. “I’m being the bigger person here. Kneel, apologise and beg me properly, then I’ll consider forgiving you.” Loren stared at me and for a moment, I thought she would actually get on her knees and beg. In fact, I was almost certain until she spoke. “Get out.” It was quiet and for a moment, I thought I misheard. “If you’re so happy with each other, why not be with each other?” She continued, her blue eyes hardening the longer I stared at them. “Why do you have to drag me into everything? Or could it be that she’s not enough for you?” “Loren!” I snapped, standing up. “Sorry, did I say something wrong?” she retorted, glaring at me. “This is all my fault, I got between you.” “Both of you deserve each other, you should be locked away together forever!” “Shut your mouth, Loren!” I barked, ready to give her a piece of my mind when it happened, The sound of glass shattering followed and Lovie shrieked. I stumbled back and it took me two full seconds to realize Loren smashed the glass of water on her hospital table. And the glass shards grazed Lovie’s face, small bruises were forming on her forehead and cheeks. I was fuming now. I pointed at her, my body barely able to contain my anger. Loren leveled my gaze, “Or what, Asher?” She challenged me. I knew she was cold-hearted, but I never imagined that she could harm someone. “Asher! Asher, my face!” Lovie sobbed “This cripple tried to kill me!” Loren scoffed, rolling her eyes. I picked Lovie up, glaring at Loren as I spoke. “You’ve gone crazy, Loren.” She didn’t answer. She didn’t even meet my gaze. Somehow, it made me even more furious. How dare she ignore me? “Asher,” Lovie sobbed in my arms. “In fact, you’ve crossed all the lines,” I pressed on, “and forgot your place.” “You want your mother’s document don’t you?” She perked up at that, her eyes widening. “Ashe—“ “If you want it so badly, then come get it tomorrow.” Her forehead creased, her eyes searching mine. “And what’s so special about tomorrow?” She asked. I grinned, “It’s Lovie’s birthday.” Something flickered in her eyes. “I don’t want to attend her stupid birthday. Can you stoop any lower? Just return it to me.” “I’ll be waiting for you, Loren. If you don’t come tomorrow then you’ll never see that document ever again.”Loren's POV I wiped my tears and snatched the document from her. I glanced through each page, my knees buckling as realisation sank in. Camille let out a sob. “The copy we sent and the one you signed were completely different. An insider must have switched them.”I stumbled back and stepped away from Killian when he tried to touch me. My chest tightened and the world around me started spinning. Camille wasn’t done. “Loren, they don’t just want your position,”I froze. Our eyes met. “They want your mother’s catalogues too.” My heart didn’t just sink, it fell and crashed at my feet. My mother’s catalogue? “If you can’t find a partner in twenty-four hours, they’ll take everything.”Camille hugged me. “I messed up, Loren. We did for Killian, to bring music back to him. We risked everything and we lost!”“I won’t let you lose, Loren,” Killian said, stepping forward. The warmth in his eyes was back, but somehow, every part of me felt cold. Realisation had probably hit him by no
Loren’s POV The next day, I took a cab straight to the conference hall. I didn’t want anyone, not even Nigel to follow me. Camille’s idea still had me rattled but as I clutched the share agreement I’d signed, all I could think about was Killian. I was doing it for him and if I had to sacrifice our love for his happiness, I would do it all over again. I stared ahead. I wanted things to happen differently but at this point, I was forced to do this. First Camille had to secure twenty percent shares so I had the power to make the announcement I was about to make. It put me on the board and gave me one shot at bringing music back to Killian. The car pulled to a halt and I got out, immediately surrounded by nosy reporters. The guards led me into the conference hall where all the other reporters were waiting. I remained standing for a moment, every fiber of my being filled with hesitation. However, as I thought of younger Killian’s smile, the path became clearer and I stood straigh
Loren's POV I spent the entire drive home furiously wiping my tears. As I leaned against the door, watching the streets blur, Killian’s words echoed in my head. The image of him walking away, and my repeated attempts to reach out, haunted me. I held back a sob, allowing the tears to fall as I glanced at my vacant finger. I wasn’t sure what went wrong, but I knew Killian was hurting. And it was all because of me. I wrapped my arm around my torso; The one person who had only ever given me happiness — I had hurt that person. I caught Nigel’s gaze from the driver’s mirror. “Time often helps,” he said, keeping his gaze on the road. “Hopefully.”The call pulled to a halt inside the estate and I stepped out, rushing up the stairs toward my old bedroom. I instructed the guards to break down the door. They nervously glanced at each other for a moment before breaking it. I entered and despite being in a vacant room, I was reliving all the moments. When Killian had gifted me the cello,
Loren's POV “Over here, Mrs Whitmore!” a reporter yelled, positioning their cameras to take the millionth photo. The cameras continued flashing, almost blindly as they dominated the entire space. The guests were grinning, and Killian pulled me closer. He had just announced me as the face of Whitmore. The banquet we worked so hard for was almost done. But a question was still burning at the back of my mind. Why did Killian get so upset over the room? He fired all the maids before dawn and even Nigel was instructed to leave for a few days. Pilar seemed equally upset. Their reactions were so heavy that I couldn’t bring myself to announce I went there. And maybe part of me wanted to believe it was about another room. “What's wrong, Loren?” Killian murmured, “Do you want us to stop?” Our eyes locked and I shook my head turning to the camera. While the thoughts plagued me, I became even more determined to surprise Killian. Perhaps playing the Cello would give him some pe
Loren’s POVI blinked away tears as I stared at Killian; he still had the ring open. I covered my face, running my hands through my hair as a sob racked through me. I wasn’t sure I could remember the last time anyone put so much effort into me, or wanted to know me. I..“Loren,” he said, “Are you okay?”I smiled through watery tears and nodded, offering my hand for the ring. Killian accepted my hand with reverence, slipping the stoned diamond onto it. He kissed my hand, pressing it against his cheek as he shut his eyes as if to sink into the moment. I leaned closer, our noses brushing. Just as I attempted to capture his lips in line, the sound of loud clapping filled the rooftop. We pulled apart to see a furious Pilar storming forward. She had confetti in her hair and looked like she had been run over by a car and survived with the sole intention of combusting in front of us. “Great, great, just great!” She snapped. “I’m down here, breaking my back to plan a banquet for the c
Loren’s POV “Loren, you—““Madam?”I turned to see Nigel rushing forward.“Nigel, actually I… I’m a little bit busy. Pilar—“ I turned but she wasn’t there anymore. Where had she gone? She wanted to tell me something. And she looked so upset. I decided to check on her but Nigel continued, “Sir is waiting for you in the garden.”“I’ll be there in a minute.”“It’s urgent, ma’am.”I turned to him.“I’ll check on Ms. Pilar.”I glanced at the stairs one more time before speaking. “Thank you, Nigel.”He froze. “For the court. You managed to convince Lovie to testify against Asher.”He smiled, “It only happened because of you, Madam. You handed her the shares and she took the bait.”I nodded and started walking away, increasing my pace toward the garden. The moment I saw Killian, I would tell him about the cello and Pilar’s reaction. I had never seen her so upset. There was only one person who could answer my questions now. I froze as I noticed there were rose petals scattered aroun
