Loren’s POV

I traced my black, off-shoulder dress, my gaze lingering on the mirror.

The day had finally arrived.

I was officially divorcing Asher today.

“A-are you sure you want to wear that Madam?” my personal maid spoke up. “Mr. West—“

“I’m not Mr. West.” I turned, “So his preferences, likes, and dislikes have nothing to do with me.”

Her eyes widened.

“Whether I black dress or a red one, it’s my choice.”

I brushed past her, exiting the mansion and entering a cab.

Asher hated the color black, and especially off-shoulder dresses.

He’d once asked me to burn the dress, but I loved black so I never had the heart to do it.

My decision back then had finally come in handy.

“We are here, Ma’am.”

I glanced at my watch. I was already thirty minutes late.

I paid the cab man and exited the cab, strolling into the divorce office.

This time, my head was held high.

The moment I walked in, Asher’s eyes narrowed.

“Didn’t I tell you not to wear that outfit?” he spat, “Are you trying to seduce me into changing my mind? Was all this trouble necessary? Wouldn’t it have been better to just beg me earlier instead of pulling a stunt like this?”

“I’ll tell you one last time, I won’t let you off the hook until you beg,” he crossed his arms.

I sat down and a staff member approached us, setting the divorce papers on the table.

She dropped the pen on the table, beside Asher.

“You can start the signing process now,” she said, “Once you are done, I’ll retrieve the papers.”

I scoffed internally.

They had already determined that I wasn’t going to sign after all so they were handing him the decision.

I glanced from the pen to Asher, before deciding to reach for it.

But Asher grabbed it before me.

He scribbled his signature with zero hesitation, tossing the papers at me.

The silence between us stretched but before I could say anything, the sound of his phone ringing filled the room.

Asher picked it up, his eyes widening as he listened. “Lovie is about to jump off a bridge?”

Asher shot me a nasty glare as if everything was my fault. He slammed the pen on the table and moved to leave when the staff member spoke up.

“Sir, you haven’t finished signing the papers, if you leave now—“

Asher didn’t miss a beat. “We’ve gone through the process of cancelling the divorce so many times anyway—just handle it however you see fit.”

He was already outside the building before anyone could stop him.

I couldn’t help but smile as he left, he was so confident that I wouldn’t sign.

That I couldn’t bear to lose him.

I glanced at the staff member who was also packing up the papers.

She sighed, “Do you want to cancel the proceedings the same way you’ve done the last ninety-nine times?”

My voice finally filled the silence in the divorce office.

“No,” I answered, taking the papers and pen from her. “This time,” I scribbled my signature. “I choose divorce.”

Her eyes widened as I turned, walking away.

It was all over.

I hailed another cab, leaning against the window as it sped by.

The events from the past few days flashed before my eyes. All the lines Asher crossed, every single time he hurt me.

My lips curled upwards as the cab pulled up in front of the mansion.

It was truly over.

I paid the cab man and entered the mansion, taking quick strides toward my bedroom.

I pushed open the doors and entered, strolling into my walk-in closet and pulling out my dusty suitcase.

I carefully cleaned it up and packed up my things.

From the day I got married, I’d shoved it there, determined I would never use it.

Because I was so sure that I would never leave Asher, now that I was leaving him… it was suddenly useful again.

Just as I packed another black dress, the sound of my phone ringing filled the room.

I picked it up.

“Hello,” I whispered, waiting for the person on the other line.

“I’m sending a car to pick you up,” The familiar voice said, “Will you be ready to get in?”

“Yes,” I didn’t miss a beat, my grip on the phone tightening as I said, “I’ll be waiting.”

I turned and my leg hit a familiar box.

I crouched, pulling it out.

It was my memory box. Inside that box, I stored every moment I shared with Asher.

Every gift, photo, and love letter that I never even dared to give him.

Everything that I clung to for the past seven years.

Since the marriage had ended, m it was all meaningless.

I poured everything into the garbage bin in the room.

My eyes caught one of the photos and my hand trembled as I brushed my fingertips over it.

My eyes stung with fresh tears and I wiped the ones that fell down my cheek.

I would never let someone break my heart over and over again.

And above all? As I tossed the last photograph into the bin, I promised myself…

I would never again be foolish enough to care so deeply for someone unworthy.

I grabbed my suitcase and dragged it through the mansion. The maids had lined up, eyes wide as they struggled to believe what they were seeing.

I didn’t stop for a second until I was in front of the waiting car.

Before getting inside, I placed the divorce papers in plain sight by the entrance.

Then I entered the car.

As the driver put my luggage inside and finally

started the car, speeding down the road, I realised — This time, it was truly over.

My throat tightened.

I glanced at the rear-view mirror and my eyes caught Asher receding into the distance behind the car.

I turned, facing ahead.

From now on, we no longer shared any connection whatsoever.

Loren’s POV I paced to and fro, my heart pounding in my chest as tears leaked from my eyes. I glanced at the hospital door for the millionth time, the image of Killian crumbling, the rush to the hospital, the stretcher wheeling him in. I dragged him into my mess and now, he was hurt. It was all my fault.“You’re so shameless, it's disgusting, Loren.”I froze, my gaze narrowing to Asher’s. What was he even doing here? “Who let you in?”“You’re not happy to see your own husband? Why is that Loren? Is it because you're crying for him?”“Look at her, everyone!” he raised his voice, causing people to turn. “She’s my wife but she's not upset about me,” he stepped into my place. “She's worried about her lover.”My hands curled into fists at my sides. “Leave. Right now, Asher.”“And what if I don’t?” He snarled, stepping even closer. Our eyes locked, and he leaned. “You know what, Loren?” he sneered. “Cry all you want, I wish he dies in there!”Asher's face snapped to the side before I

Loren’s POV “I don’t think this is necessary, Killian,” I said, glancing at him as the driver pulled out of the Estate. Killian didn’t look at me. “Of course it is,” He answered. “Whenever something good happens, It's important to celebrate it.”He finally glanced at me. “And we just closed a major deal. It's only natural that we celebrate.”My heart swelled, a small smile breaking at the corner of my lips. He could call it whatever he wanted. But I knew what it was. I knew this was an attempt to cheer me up after Asher’s call. Just when I thought Asher couldn't stoop lower, he proved me wrong. And then, there was Killian. I couldn't help but think about the call again, the way he had calmly called me his wife. Like he was talking about the weather. The way it rolled off his tongue…And for a moment, even though I knew this marriage was just an arrangement, I couldn't help but wonder if he thought it was more. Did he mean it? I shook the thought off. It was impossible. This

Asher’s POV “Asher!” Lovie cried, rushing toward me. She grabbed my bleeding knuckle, her fingers tracing it as she locked eyes with me. “What the heck happened here?!”I glanced around, the entire living room floor was covered with broken bottles, vases, and pillows scattered about. My gaze caught my reflection in the mirror and I almost couldn't recognise myself. Loren had done this. She did all of this. Everything was her fault.I was trying to find the wretch and she was in another man’s arms? “Tell me, Asher, what happened?!”I pushed Lovie off me, growling. “Someone called claiming that Loren was his wife, but what difference will it make? What can you do?” I plopped on the couch, the man’s voice replaying in my head over and over again. I snapped my fingers. “Margaret! Bring my whiskey right now.” The maid rushed forward with a bottle. I reached for it before freezing. “What’s this?” I snapped, “You’ve worked here for so many years and you still don’t know the brand

Loren’s POV “Face the camera,” the photographer said, “To the left, what a wonderful shot,”“More like a wonderful couple,” another staff member said. My grip on my marriage certificate tightened. I glanced up to see Killian. He had the driver take my things to his estate since I insisted I wanted the marriage certificate as soon as possible. My eyes widened a bit as he leaned closer before gesturing at the photographer. The smile breaking through my lips was halted as my phone rang. I held back a groan. It hadn’t stopped ringing since I left Asher’s mansion. No matter how many times I ended the call, Asher was relentless. Killian glanced at my phone but didn’t say anything. I ended the call again, frowning when his texts popped up. “If you come back right now, I’ll let you sleep in our bedroom.” It read. There was a time when it would light me up, but now it only made me nauseous. I stood, so engrossed in my irritation that I lost my footing. Before I could hit the gro

Loren’s POVI stepped out of the cab, glancing at the birthday hall. For a moment, I hesitated before taking a deep breath. It was just three more days. After three days, I would be completely free from these people.Swallowing the lump in my throat, I walked into the hall, my eyes catching Asher speaking to some guests in a corner. From the decorations, it was clear he’d spared no expense to ensure Lovie had a lavish birthday. But it didn’t hurt like it used to. Instead of the tears that usually pricked my eyes, I found myself taking quick strides toward Asher. “I’m here,” I said. “Give me the documents.”He paused, staring at me from head to toe like he was searching for something. “Wait a minute,” He said, looking past me as guests started clapping. I turned just as he finished, murmuring right beside my ear. “The real show hasn’t started yet.”He was right. I watched as several men clad in suits walked into the hall in a single line, holding out large velvet boxes. Guest
