Chapter 1: Divorce, Leaving with Nothing

On their wedding anniversary, she received a divorce agreement.

Sheila Oscar had never imagined that such an absurd thing would happen to her.

The reason for the divorce was simple and cliché: Daniel Faulkner's sweetheart had returned.

"Are you divorcing me just because Dorothy Bacon is back?" Sheila Oscar's voice trembled, feeling a surreal sense of being trapped in a melodramatic soap opera, which left her dizzy.

Daniel Faulkner, with one hand in his pocket, looked at her. "Mm, I have meetings today and tomorrow. We'll handle the paperwork the day after."

His tone left no room for argument, and it felt like an invisible hand gripping her heart, squeezing it painfully.

She lowered her eyes, looking at the velvet dress with spaghetti straps she had specially prepared for the day. For a moment, she felt dazed and ridiculous.

But when she looked up, her expression became very calm.

Placing the divorce agreement on the table, without arguing or making a scene, she simply asked, "What about compensation?"

Somewhat surprised by her straightforwardness, the man standing by the floor-to-ceiling window raised his head.

Sheila Oscar was also looking at him, their eyes meeting.

The man stood tall by the window, with a few strands of black hair falling over his forehead, yet he still appeared cold and refined, just as he had been when she first met him.

But now, all the handsomeness that had once impressed her seemed to boil down to three words—scumbag.

After a few glances at Sheila Oscar, Daniel Faulkner quickly understood why she was so agreeable. Like him, she had entered this marriage out of moral obligation, and perhaps she had long wanted to leave as well.

Good.

Taking a deep breath, he said, "You name your terms."

Sheila Oscar gave him a complex look, clenching her fists. "You cheated during our marriage, so there's not much to discuss regarding the division of assets. All the property accumulated during our marriage should go to me, and you can leave with nothing."

"What?"

Daniel Faulkner suddenly lifted his head, grabbing Sheila Oscar's chin and pinning her against the wall.

"Sheila Oscar, don't push your luck! What makes you think you can demand such terms?"

In these three years, the Faulkner family business had grown rapidly, from a top-tier company in M city to a global leader, with its market value soaring from billions to tens of billions. Did Sheila Oscar even know what it meant to leave with nothing?

Numbers that couldn't be counted on both hands, and she was asking for all of it?

He used to think this woman was sensible, but today he realized she had two faces!

If she couldn't be Mrs. Faulkner, she was turning to robbery?

Sheila Oscar's chin hurt where he was holding it, and her face was slightly distorted, but her eyes showed no emotion.

Why not?

Hah, because every penny Daniel Faulkner had earned in these three years had her support behind it.

"You are the one at fault, so leaving with nothing is quite normal. If you agree, we'll go through the procedures the day after tomorrow."

She could make her husband's life comfortable, but she wasn't a saint who could tolerate her husband using her money to support a mistress.

Daniel Faulkner stared at her intently.

Her features were the same, but the emotions in her eyes tonight were different. She was no longer the clinging vine she used to be, but more like a poisonous poppy, unfamiliar to him.

"And if I don't agree?" he asked.

"It's simple. I'll tell our parents and grandparents that you cheated on me," Sheila Oscar said with a smile. "Then you'll face another forced separation. Daniel Faulkner, do you like repeating history?"

Daniel Faulkner locked eyes with her, then finally released her, his voice as cold as frost.

"Fine, I agree. The day after tomorrow, we'll handle the paperwork."

Watching him leave, Sheila Oscar rubbed her reddened cheek, her expression turning cold. She then made a phone call.

"Dad."

Mr. Oscar: "Dad? What dad? You disappeared for three years without a word. I'm not your dad!"

Sheila Oscar didn't hesitate. "Uncle, I need your help with something."
