Coming out of the airport, I spread my arms wide and threw my head back. “ Finally, I’m free!!” People coming and going gave me weird looks, but I didn’t care!

I couldn’t believe I was finally freed from that demon in human skin, my ex-husband! A man who made me regret jumping into marriage too quickly!

I married him believing love could be born. Maybe I was naïve, or perhaps I clung to that romantic idea that time, dedication, and patience could soften any heart, even one as cold as his.

Timothy Owen was powerful, rich, and elegant, just like how I imagined my future husband should be! And I was the ideal wife in his eyes.

Beautiful, well-educated, discreet. Everything fit. At first, he was distant but polite. Dinners were quiet yet respectful.

He often traveled while I stayed behind, waiting for him. Whenever I was bored, I read.

Each month, I thought maybe this would be the month something changed that he would look at me differently, that he would come closer. But the only time he touched me was in bed, with the sole intention of conceiving. Sex, then back to his room. No kisses, no caresses, not even eye contact.

I called my cunning father and told him what was going on, but he didn’t care. Timothy’s mother had insisted I marry him because they were best friends and wanted to keep me close! I understood he was forced to marry me… but couldn’t he see how much I loved him?!

“ Give him more time, he will change,” his mother assured me one day. But many months passed. Twelve. Eighteen. Twenty-four. And the silence of my womb became a curse. Confused, I started undergoing tests. At first, I went to the hospital alone, in secret, wondering what was happening to me!! Timothy was my first, for goodness’ sake!

Later, I went with him, under his pressure. In the end, the results were definitive, infertility!!

My heart shattered. I couldn’t give him a child, yet he didn’t even flinch, as if my pain meant nothing. It made me sad… useless as a wife.

Until one day, a classmate sent me a message mocking me.

“ You liar! I thought you said Timothy was your husband, but it turns out he’s your sister’s husband! You’re very shameless!!” She even sent pictures!! Timothy and Rebecca holding hands in public.

What did my stepsister have that I didn’t? I was the campus belle, invited by several fashion brands to model, but to please him, I rejected the offers and focused only on him.

Days dragged by in silence, and I was sinking. He became colder than ever!

What was I doing in his house? I overlooked his strange behavior and comforted myself with movies, games, anything. There was nothing to do about it! he didn’t love me. But I wouldn’t divorce him. I would wait until he did. I have my reason.

And one day, he finally approached me with a paper envelope in his hand and threw it at me.

“ What is this?” I pretended not to know.

“ I want a divorce.”

“ Ohh, I see?” I nodded and immediately reached for my bag for a pen.

“ Since you can’t get pregnant, sign these divorce papers.”

“ Hmmm… you’re right. Wasting your time on a woman like this wasn’t worth it anyway.” I smiled coldly and signed the papers, making him wonder why I was happy instead of rolling on the floor begging him!

Humph!! In his dreams!!

“ I’m glad you understand. We don’t need to keep pretending with each other!”

“ Pretending?” My brows furrowed.

“ What else has this been if not a failed investment?” His words sliced my heart like knives.

“ Is that what I was to you? An investment?” I asked in disbelief. Seriously?

“ Do you want me to lie now? All I ever wanted was an heir. A child with my name, my features, my blood. If you can’t give me that, then it’s over.”

“ Ohhh… I get it,” I nodded.

“ Don’t worry, I’ve already arranged everything. You’ll get a generous settlement.”

“ How long have you been planning this?” I needed to know!!

“ Since you started crying at night, thinking I couldn’t hear you. I’m not stupid.”

“ Is there someone else?” I asked. He didn’t answer. The way he adjusted his tie and turned away said everything.

“ I hope you find whatever life you’re looking for. I’m done with you, Lisa.” And he left.

He really left. He left me alone with the papers. So it was true. He loved my stepsister. But why? Why waste so much of my time? We’d been married almost three years… I didn’t deserve this.

Many days passed. Alone in his house, I researched The Diamonds, my dream company, and started planning my journey to New York! I sold all the gifts his parents gave me, including the one he was forced to buy, very expensive! just to secure my flight f*e. At least that was good; it was a long journey.

While waiting for my visa, I saw his photo in a magazine. He wasn’t alone. Just as I’d heard, my stepsister stood beside him, smiling sweetly, her hand on her big stomach. Pregnant. He’d probably planned it long before throwing those papers at me. But I didn’t care anymore. I was the one blinded by love and I didn’t blame him for my inability to give him a child!!

He never saw me as a partner. Only as a means to an end… a tool, a vessel. And when I no longer served him, I became trash.

Good one, Timothy Owen! Just you wait!!

Well… why waste my energy on him? I would chase my dream first!!

…….

Relocating wasn’t easy. I didn’t plan well! I slept on the streets like a homeless person....well yeah, I was a homeless person! Until I met Sofia, my savior!! I was chasing a man who stole my peace, and she helped me catch and deal with him.

After hearing my story, out of pity, she took me to her house.

…..

“ What did you mean by failing my interview?” I asked Sofia in confusion. I had been rejected for the third time by The Diamonds, the company I had always dreamed of working for. Who knew I would fall for Timothy and abandon my dream just to marry him!!

Sofia sighed. “ All the documents and interviews were professional. I don’t know why they rejected you.”

  • Age Is Just A Number    Author's Note

Author's note: Thank you so much for completing this journey with me. This is one of the chapters of my new romance novel, you will love it!!)Chapter 5: Heated Night. She didn’t answer with words. She sighed like she’d been holding her breath for hours. That sound alone made the heat coil low in his gut go cold. He climbed onto the mattress, his knees sinking into the plush surface, crowding her space until she had to tilt her head back to keep some distance between their faces. He still couldn’t see her clearly. “Good,” he murmured. He wanted it that way he didn’t want to see the person’s face or even know her name. What he wanted was to get the drug out of his body. His fingers found the zip of the dress at her back and pulled it down. The fabric peeled away from her skin with a soft rasp. He repeated the motion on the other side. The bra loosened, then fell forward, revealing full, soft breasts which bounced into his palms, he cursed under his breath at how perfect they fel

  • Age Is Just A Number    The end

The morning after that intimate wake-up, the air in the villa felt lighter somehow. Vincent was already up and dressed by the time I stepped out of the shower, looking as composed as ever in a crisp shirt and trousers. He glanced at me when I walked into the bedroom, his eyes softening just a fraction as they landed on the ring still sparkling on my finger. “Wear something comfortable but nice,” he said simply, his voice low and steady. “We’re leaving in an hour.” My stomach did a little flip. “Today? Really? I thought....” He gave me a small nod, no room for debate. “They’re expecting us for lunch.” I stood there for a second with my heart racing, then hurried to the closet. I chose a modest knee-length dress in soft cream, something that felt respectful without trying too hard. My hands shook a little as I did my hair and light makeup. Vincent wasn’t a man who liked rushing explanations, so I didn’t press him for details about his parents. I just kept reminding myself: He ch

  • Age Is Just A Number    Hot morning

I woke up with a sudden soft moan slipping out of my lips as something warm pressed against my neck. “Huh?” I yawned and opened my eyes. “Vincent?” I whispered, but the words turned into a surprised gasp. The man had already undressed me. My nightdress was gone, the blanket pushed down to my waist, and his body was covering mine, one strong hand gently holding my hip while his mouth moved slowly along the curve of my neck. His lips were warm, deliberate, trailing soft kisses that sent little shivers through me before I could even fully wake up. I blinked, still half in the haze of sleep as I felt him already inside me. He was moving slowly, deeply, each thrust measured and unhurried, filling me completely. The stretch was there, warm and insistent, making my body respond before my mind could catch up. A soft, involuntary sound escaped me again as he pressed in deeper, his hips rolling against mine in a gentle rhythm that made my toes curl under the sheets. “Vincent…” I breathed

I stood there with my hand rested in his, my mind trying to settle after everything that had just happened. The ring on my finger felt real… heavy… meaningful. “…I thought you were angry at me,” I said, my eyes searching his face, unsure if I had imagined everything from before or if this was some kind of dream. Vincent chuckled softly. “Why would I be angry at you?” he asked, his tone calm. “I knew my son well.” He paused briefly, then added, “And even if you wanted to use me…” He suddenly spread his hands slightly, as though presenting himself on a stage. “Go on,” he said lightly. “I’m all yours.” Ahhh, I blushed and hit his chest dramatically. “Vincent!” I exclaimed, my cheeks instantly heating up. “Don’t say things like that so casually!” He didn’t even flinch much, just looked at me with that same calm, slightly amused expression that always made it hard to stay fully annoyed at him. I exhaled and shook my head, then i explained everything that had happened. Laurence’s beha

The taxi stopped and came to a stop in front of a massive gate. I stepped out, adjusting my bag on my shoulder, and the moment my eyes lifted properly… I froze. A huge villa stood beyond the gate, so tall and elegant. The kind of place that didn’t just look like wealth… it felt like it. My lips parted slightly as I stared, taking in the structure, the landscaping, the quiet authority the entire place carried. For a second, I just stood there, completely stunned. So this is where he lives… I exhaled slowly, shaking my head faintly as realisation hit me. “No wonder he’s arrogant…” I muttered. “Living in a place like this…” A deep sigh escaped my lips as I gathered myself, then I walked up to the gate and knocked. A moment later, a voice came from inside. “Who are you, and what are you looking for?” I straightened slightly, clearing my throat. “I’m his…” I paused for a brief second, my confidence wavering just a little. Then I forced the words out. “…girlfriend. Let me in. I won

Sofia didn’t even hesitate to raise her hand and knock lightly on my head. “What type of nonsense is that?” I flinched, holding my head with a small wince. “Ouch! You don’t understand the situation!” Her brows lifted sharply. “What situation?” I sniffed, quickly wiping the remaining tears from my cheeks as I tried to steady my breathing. For a moment, I hesitated… but then everything came rushing out. I told her everything. Laurence’s behaviour, the misunderstanding, the way he twisted my words, how Vincent looked at me, the disappointment, and how he left without giving me a chance to explain properly. I explained how Laurence deliberately made it look like something else, how everything spiralled so quickly, and how Vincent didn’t even stay long enough to hear me out. Sofia listened quietly, her expression changing as I spoke. At some point, her eyes widened slightly, clearly surprised by how badly things had been handled. When I finished, she exhaled slowly, crossing her arm

I looked up at him in surprise. I already knew what he wanted to do, but the fact that he looked pissed bothered me. “What...hmmm...” Before I could speak, he had already dipped his length into my mouth, grabbing my head as he thrust in and out continuously. “Fvck! What am I even doing?!” He

Entering the luxurious living room, I saw Mrs Donovan carrying two huge vases, and I froze. I forgot to give the old woman the flower and it was even at the hotel. I’ve been quiet throughout the journey, thinking about my final decision about our current situation.
