Chapter 11 - I'll be glad to answer

"Princess, take care of business while I'm away, take every decision on my behalf and if you find it difficult you can always call me" Chief uche instructed.

"Sure thing Dad, I'll do just that, have fun with mummy" Chimamanda replied.

Chief and Mrs. Uche Odenigbo were travelling, they usually go on Vacations and tour and this time they will be gone for a week and as usual Chimamanda takes over Odenigbo group while Chidinma takes over her mum's company.

Chief Odenigbo turned to his eldest child, "Chidinma take care of your sisters and protect them like a mother hen will protect her chicks, you know you are the next Alpha of the Uche Odenigbo's park after me right?" He asked grinning.

"Yes Dad, I know and I'll protect them"

"Chisom you know i hate to leave you behind but I need to catch fun with my wife, I promise I'll get something specially for you on my way back" 

Chisom's face lit up with excitement as she heard what her father said "Yes Dad, please do I'll love it. 

The girl towered over their Dad in a group hug and peck. "I'll miss my girls" their mum screeched and squeezed them into her body. 

"Mum, Dad get going already you would not want to keep your pilot and flight staff waiting for too long" Chimamanda alerted.

Chief and Mrs. Odenigbo said their final goodbyes adding the fact that they loved their girls and left in their Mercedes G - Wagon with Chuka his personal driver behind the wheels.

Chimamanda walked briskly to her office after a long meeting, she picked up her phone to surf through social media since there was nothing important on her schedule. She unlocked her phone and saw 15 missed calls from Chidinma and 6 from Chisom.

Worried a little bit she decides to call Chidinma, she was about to dial her number but the call from Chidinma intercepted her attempt. She picked immediately.

"Jean where have you been without your phone I've been calling you since forever?" Chidinma asked in a hoarse voice, from the sound of her voice Chimamanda could tell that she has been crying then her worries turned to fears. 

"I'm sorry I was in a meeting with investors of our company's project, what's the matter?" She asked with shaky breath.  "Mum and Dad had a fatal accident come to our family hospital now" Chidinma replied almost choking with tears.

"o..o..o.. ok I'l.. I'll b.. be  ri.. right th.. there ASAP" Chimamanda stuttered. Chimamanda fell down in tears she felt her world crashing down on her, her life was turning upside down. Her environment was looking blur to her she knew she couldn't drive to the hospital in this state. She couldn't bear the pain of loosing her parents another set of persons that she loved and cared about in the whole world to the cold hands of death again. 

She picked up her phone swiftly and dialed Ryan's number, he was the only one she could think of at the moment. 

He picked up at the second ring. "Hey princess how are you?" Plea.. please com... Come to my office and pick me my parents had a fatal accident" she managed to say.  "Okay, stay right there I'm coming" Ryan instructed in panic and hung up.

Chimamanda felt a bile build up in her throat, her panic attack was returning. She kept breathing in and out to steady her breath but it was futile she ran to her office toilet and threw up contents from her gut. She felt so pathetic and didn't want anyone to see her in her current state. She splashed water on her face, grabbed a towel beside her to clean her face then exit the toilet.

Just as she comes out of her toilet, Nnenna her P.A enters with a worried Ryan in grimace, she quickly notifies her P.A to leave them. She runs into Ryan's waiting arms, sobbing on his chest while he ran his hands on her hair soothing her with comforting words. 

"I can't loose them she said in between choked sobs" "They won't die Princess, let's get your things and drive to meet them" Ryan assured her.

They walk out of the Odenigbo building, he opens the car door for her to enter and they silently drive to the hospital with Ryan squeezing Chimamanda's hands lightly not leaving it at all.

"I'm here for Chief Uche and Mrs. Kimberly Chioma Odenigbo" Ryan tells the nurse as they approach the hospital counter. 

The black beautiful nurse looked up from her computer screen at them and looks back at the screen  "Mrs. Odenigbo is in V.I.P ward 2 while Chief Odenigbo is V.I.P ward 1 but he is in an emergency surgery right now please move the 10th floor to get to their room. "What floor is the Surgical room" Ryan ask "it's still on the 10th floor but it's the left side of the elevator doors while the rooms are on the right side" The nurse replied and went back to her work.

They walked out of the elevator doors and turned left to the surgical room, Chidinma and Chisom were already seating down at the waiting area sobbing quietly, Chidinma held her in a side embrace. On the opposite side was their Uncle, Ifeanyi Chief Uche's only surving youger brother who Chimamanda termed her wicked uncle. She looked at him in disgust as he bowed his head in pain and ran to her sisters.

"What Happened, why are they here" Chimamanda screamed holding her head in pain. Everyone looked up at her noticing her presence. "Shh it's okay nothing is going to happen" Chidinma comforted her "No they can't leave us, I won't bear the pain, Mildred's death was too painful for me, I can't bear the pain" she cried.

Ryan came to her side holding her. The soft embrace was what she needed she hugged him back not wanting to leave anytime soon, he took her to a seat and they sat down together close to her sister's while she was still in his embrace.

"The brake failed, they collided with a truck, Chuka died at the spot, Dad is in surgery while mum is in coma. The car is in total wreck" Chidinma narrated she was trying so hard not to cry she had to be strong for her sisters. Tears were dropping from Chimamanda's eyes 

Their Uncle on the other side was lamenting "fake crocodile tears I'm sure he is happy, I know he has a hand in this and I will surely find out". 

Chimamanda's inner thought accused as she looked at her uncle in rage and pure disgust oblivious to him. 

After some hours of waiting, the surgical room doors opened and everyone stood up to meet the Doctor. 

Nurses wheeled out their father on the hospital bed swiftly through the doors and headed for his room, he looked pale and his eyes were were shut he had bandages on his head and some areas of his body. 

The girls watched their Dad in pain as he was wheeled out, Their family Doctor who is their father's friend and personal family doctor since they knew the word 'Doctor' came out in company of another Doctor both in scrubs.

They rushed to him, "Dr. Anayo please what the status of my father's health? Chidinma asked. 

"I'm sorry girls this had to happen but Thank God he had two successful surgeries, we had to carry it out immediately so we won't loose him, The girls sighed in relief respectively. 

Dr Adebayo here, he gestures to the tall dark skinned doctor close to him Carried out the first surgery on him while I took over after he was done to repair his torn tissues and tendons" 

He paused for Dr Adebayo to give his report, "I performed a neurosurgery on him to remove blood cloth, stop bleeding in his head and also relieve pressure building up in his skull due to the gravity of the accident. It will take a lengthy period for him to recover and might include rehabilitative therapy to relearn or strengthen specific physical or cognitive activities"

"Medically he has passed danger zone Dr. Anayo continued but we will still have him under close supervision and monitoring so nothing goes amiss. We just have to wait for him to wake up.

We will now settle him down in the room and then you all can meet him at a time". The doctors walked into the room while nurses kept going in and out of the room with equipments and files. 

They waited patiently outside with their Uncle standing in a worried state, Ryan still holding Chimamanda and Chidinma holding Chisom too. 

Dr. Anayo finally came out, "If you have more questions I'll be glad to answer and if you need my assistance call me immediately, you can now go in to see your parents be careful while you are at it" He concluded with a small reassuring smile and left them.
