Chapter 21

Scarlett:

I sat on the edge of the bed as I got lost in my thoughts.

Alexei’s words played in my head and the idea of him not wanting to come to the bedroom bothered me more than I dared admit.

The way he looked at me and the way he spoke, his body language, his cold eyes, everything about him, I just didn’t know what to think.

The fact that I wanted to do what I could to break him and make him pay was something that he couldn’t blame me for; however, I could tell that he didn’t understand the pain that I was in, and knowing that he was doing everything to try and mend my scars only broke me more than I could describe.

Forcing myself to get out of bed, I had to drop my ego down, I didn’t know how I would do so, but one way or the other, I had to make sure to fix things between us before I ended up being the loser here. The man was to replace me if he wanted to, and that idea alone was enough to make my wolf whimper. Her bond with his wolf having grown stronger, I couldn’t help but fee
